General tabletop games discussion
I've definitely stepped up how much I'm enjoying board games in the last little while. It started with the concept of Legacy gaming which has just made me so much more enthusiatic for board games full stop.
I decided to join Kickstarter and make me first ever pledge because of a board game I liked the look of, called Mothership.
Really looking forward to this one. I think it's going to be awesome.

I just bought Settlers of Catan for myself for Fathers Day. I also bought my boy some Pokemon cards and played my first game with him. It's basically Magic: The Gathering for kids.

Catan is one of those games that gets old after a time for me, but I applaud households that have that as their standard over the alternative, dreaded- dare I mention it- Monopoly...the worst game in existence.
Try out Love Letter for a lighter, faster fare as well. It's a short filler card game of deduction that plays 2-4 when you get burned out of other games.

Oh man I've played Everyone is John I think 3 times now with big groups of friends. Last time my boyfriend GMed and made some small changes to the rules but idr exactly. It is REALLY funny, you can be really creative with it and it's easy for people who don't really play rpgs (like me). Great party game.

Re: General tabletop games discussion
Having spent a lot of time helping out with the rules of the game Mothership, I really do think it's going to be a great game.
So, basically, I'm pimping/advertising for people who might want to buy it, because I don't want people who might think it is as cool as I do to miss out... pre-orders are going to close in two days. There is no guarantee it will get a retail version, but also in particular the very cool custom dice and silver embossed asteroids will no longer be part of the game or separately purchasable after that point.
You can get pre-orders, and read about the game (in the "Our Story" tab) here:

So I haven't had much time for tabletop games lately... but! I bought Power Grid yesterday to treat myself for my birthday, and it's as amazingly awesome as I had built it up to be. So glad I have this game now.

Another excellent Kickstarter game that I couldn't resist - build your own theme park, take down other people's theme parks.

Re: General tabletop games discussion
I actually just played that a few weeks ago!! Pretty fun, parts of it were surprisingly similar to Dixit if you've ever played that (the cool surreal art style of the cards and trying to get certain people to guess an association with it)

I just got Dixit this year and its quite fun, except that I discovered thinking of good phrases is amazingly hard!
I'm buying so many board games at the moment that I don't know where I'll store them all. But it's worth it. Unfair, that I linked above, could end up being one of my favourite games ever I think.

Dixit is my favorite board game. I played all the time with my friends in England. We had four or five expansion decks and just shuffled them all together. The art is so cool.

The art is so awesome and I really like how you want at least 1 but not all of the players to guess it so you can sort of tailor an inside reference to associate with the card. Super fun for friend groups.

How good one is at Dixit is entirely proportional to their brain commonality with the other players.MovingPictures07 wrote:I played Dixit for the first time a few weeks ago, and it was definitely fun! I'm pretty awful at it though.

looks great to me. You have to bring up a family in a village and send them to do work. In the church or town hall for example. Then they die. So you have several generations.Metalmarsh89 wrote:Agreed!thellama73 wrote:7 wonders is pretty fun.
