When i was little, we used to spend a week every summer at a resort in the Catskill Mountains. The year i was 9 was the first year my mom & stepdad would let me out of their sight for that week, and that year it was magical. I made new friends, explored the woods, hung around the stables, went fishing, did all the things a kid could do, and did it with pretty much minimal adult supervision.

For my grandmonthers birthday, my sisters and I gave her a 75th anniversary Mickey Mouse watch. It was her 75th birthday. She was so happy that she cried a little.

What is your worst childhood memory?

My parents were divorced when i was 4, and my Dad was away in the Army. When he came home, he visited me every week for a while, then 2 weeks before my 8th birthday, he dropped me off, said "See you next week" and never came back. It was a few years before i stopped waiting for him on Saturday morning.

What was the best pet you ever had?

I had a rabbit while in college, his name was Eli T. Bunny and I loved him dearly. Animals like cats and dogs are natural predators so they prefer to chase things, animals like rabbits are natural prey and they love to be chased in play. I would chase him until he stopped and looked at me and then I would call him back and we would do it all over again. He was also house broken and understood commands like come and no, and recognized his own name obviously. Rabbits also are extremely social creatures and don't like being left alone, they want to be where others are, people or otherwise. And they scream bloody murder when terrified. Seriously, it sounds like a human screaming. He was the only pet I cried over when he died.

I was about 4, I was hiking in the woods with my Mom, and she stepped on a piece of styrofoam. The sound of styrofoam crunching STILL makes me cringe.

This question makes me think back to a conversation I had with my BFF boy version - when we got to see Kurt Vonnegut speak. He looked so small -from our nosebleed seats. But it sparked an idea in me. It was like Uncle Kurt was "pocket sized." Then I started thinking about all the other people who would be AWESOME to carry around in my pocket.

I decided that I would most want (cuz we had a limit of 3) Obviously Uncle Kurt, and Shakespeare, and Mark Twain.

The person I'd MOST want to speak to is Twain. I would ask him: Did you see this coming? Now what do we do? Has the time that's passed made you love us humans more? Or are we still as fucked up and flawed as you died hating us? How can we get better?

Kazakhstan~ it is multi cultural as opposed to most -stans (apparently Stalin used the place to deport people to during ethnic cleansings and pogroms), and is not on Human Rights watch lists, either. It has an upcoming economy, and for Central Asia, seems more OK than the rest of the -stans. I liked this question; I had to do some research to answer it.

I told someone that life is too short to waste time dithering, you never know what could happen next, you could die tomorrow. It was a lesson I learned the hard way, and good advice always comes from experience.
