I had macrobiotic vegan sushi today. Tofu, kale and purple rice wrapped in seaweed. It is the whitest thing you can eat. I feel like Gwyneth Paltrow. Everyone is making fun of me, but it was dang delicious.

Re: Random~
I don't really know how to feel at this point.
The past few months, a rapid succession of people have left my life (for better and worse), and while it's not as though I'll never see my dad (hell, he's often gone most weekdays anyway), it's this final act that really makes me examine the reality of it all.
Sure, my dad was hardly around before he left. Yeah, he and my mom fought a lot in a traumatizing manner and the worst has been long gone, but him leaving the house we've lived in for 12 years is definitely the final nail in the "this is a reality" coffin. I've been pretty angry today and snapped a couple times. I don't even know if that was related to what's happened, but I'd assume it would be. I still am, in fact.

I've been pretty angry today and snapped a couple times. I don't even know if that was related to what's happened, but I'd assume it would be. I still am, in fact.

And while as I grew even older, it didn't get easier, but it was easier to understand what happened and how they ended up where they were. It was easier to forgive them of their faults and love them as they are rather than the parents I expected them to be. But it wasn't better. It's never better and it's something that affects us as a family even today.
I'm near 40 years old and getting married in 2 weeks. And when we first planned the wedding it was strictly no family allowed for a long time. In part because the groom's family was not able to travel and in part because I was worried about my parents being together again for such a long weekend even *with* their new respective spouses (whom I adore.) Also, because while my mother has fallen into a pretty comfortable retirement, my father has not and I knew he would not be able to afford the trip. I'm blessed in many ways as I have the most wonderful siblings who decided that their wedding present to me was going to be sending my dad to the wedding. Now I'm not sure due to other circumstances if my mom will be there or not. It's not easy because it's not right to have one parent there and not the other. While I understand what's happening and I'm a big girl and I will make the very best of the situation I'm given, it's not easy, nor is it better. And it's something only children from split homes can understand.
Be angry when you need to be angry. Be sad when you need to be sad. Be happy too, when you need to be happy because maybe now both of your parents can find a match that's right for them. Or find some happiness in their solitude. The people that love you will understand that you are going through a rough time right now and need a little space.
Please don't hesitate to shoot me a pm or anything if you need someone to vent to or talk to. I have been where you are and I know what a crappy hand you've been given to play with right now.

I was born to speak all mirth and no matter....

The theme is how old gods linger like ghosts in our supposedly "enlightened" civilization- no one needs a graven image to worship what they do. What's interesting is that almost all of the material going on this album is very old- some of which I wrote when I was 19. It's fascinating getting to revisit this stuff and rework it using my accumulated experience and technology.Mongoose wrote:Does the new album have a theme? Could this be your magnus opus?
