Thanks.
Thanks for being a good sport too.
(for the record, nutella isn't lying. I was trying to get her to put her vote on me and switch at the last second. Grr.)
And for the record, Kites, I've been directing you wherever I want every night since you were recruited into badguyia. Secondary power. Frustrating that you THOUGHT you targeted Kylemii, and it just happened to almost get me killed.

Epi’s Test was correct
Also “hey guys, speedchuck has been alive for awhile” and “there’s no way you could’ve lynched I_D without stealing my vote”

Hell yeah!
Lmao what a lucky thing though, with sig not changing his vote and all.
Will have a lot to say about what our team did and stuff when I have more time. I'm hella proud of this one. Thanks jack!!
And thanks to dunya and also Jay for setting us up for victory.

sorry for leaving the game, guys. I really didn't want to but Jack and I decided it was for the best because I knew something I shouldn't have known.
Thanks for stepping up speedchuck!
fwiw, we decided to kill rabbit n1 because we were terrified speedchuck would replace him and we didn't want a townie speed against us. No one sniffed that, huh?

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Game Over]
fwiw2: "why is speedchuck still alive?" is the worst argument ever to lynch anyone. sorry. regardless of whether or not speed was town, that argument is awful and I hate it and I will frown upon anyone who resorts to it at any time, in any game.
I've been close to being mislynched because of it plenty of times, and it's impossible to defend against it.
Town was so close, there were moments where Jack was in the dead chat saying "yea looks like scum lost, town won" - so I was definitely on the edge of my seat the whole way through.

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Day 11]
Nah. Nobody ever knows what my thesis is seemingly.
dunya and speedchuck both played wonderfully and they deserve a great deal of praise. dunya especially blew up this thread in a way I have never seen before, and it was probably the single best cycle of mafioso play I have observed as a player to this point. Awesome work, and from a player who has loneliness-and-cheesed in the past. Perhaps my theory in some capacity inspired the effort.

My thesis was never that this is impossible though. It was that it hardly ever happens.
It still hardly ever happens. I am unlikely to overhaul my perspective of the game of Mafia as a result of an outlier. I am already annoyed in advance at the tinfoil mislynches which will follow from this performance in future games. They're coming.
dunya is a very rare exception to a very reliable rule. And for that, she kicked my ass in this Mafia game. I tip the cap.
The replacement was never necessary though.

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Game Over]
In hindsight, I'd say the warning sign I should have given more attention was that it took dunya too long to acknowledge me as a civilian read. It's similar to the Sloonei dynamic wherein it tends to be a two-way when it's real.

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Game Over]
Dunya got replaced because of some knowledge slip IIRC.
One other moment I wanted to look at. I nearly toasted myself by claiming DDL was town when Dunya targeted elsewhere. I managed to sell it as a host error somehow, while at work and unable to access Chatzy.
Granted, I was never given Dunya's targets, but still. I used and abused host discretion there.
That is my proudest mafia moment now, eclipsing my Phenon: Origins role use. So many times I thought my goose was cooked this game, but that one takes the cake.

BTW, I don't know what the protocol is, but I think Dunya deserves credit for this scum win as well.
I did decent enough, but if I had not inherited a supahtown role, I'd have probably kicked the bucket much, much earlier.

Good game indeed to the whole Mafia squad. Y'all endured a lot of pressure, both in the words and in the votes, throughout the game. You squeaked by time and again, and that's the name of the mafia-aligned game. Nobody cares who suspected who. Just get to another day.

Jay, I believe in your thesis tbh. But we should stop giving people easy civ reads whenever they blow a thread. If it happens once a year, that's one game a year that civs are handing to baddies on a plate. It's too much.

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Game Over]
dunya was replaced because of an accidental blurt by me in a private conversation about my general Mafia experience in the present. I said something careless which in a vacuum could have affected her read on me in this game (even though she already knew I was a civilian mechanically), and I informed Jack of my oopsie. They decided on a replacement. I'm not sure that needed to happen, but it's my fault anyway.

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Game Over]
I am sure I will be more vigilant moving forward, even if I am not truly sure I should be. It's a double-edged sword, because greater vigilance can often lead to greater paranoia, and then real civilians are wasting their time fielding stupid suspicions (or worse yet being lynched over them). Indeed that happens much more often than this happens, and I think it causes more civilian losses.Dragon D. Luffy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 22, 2018 7:21 pm Jay, I believe in your thesis tbh. Nonetheless, I doubt I will maintain a perfectly Vulcan mindset. Getting one's ass kicked has an effect for better or for worse.

Holy shit man, your role "known for his constant crits" as a description. What kind of civ doesn't read that and go "FUCK YEAH". I was orgasming about it all game (though in my case I had protection from roleblock and conditional bulletproof so I wanted to turn into a murder machine")

i'd have done the same thing as town. everything i said about the potential of misdirect onto someone i was promoting as town came from alignment irregardless quin who doesn't like vigilante's very much.Dragon D. Holy shit man, your role "known for his constant crits" as a description. What kind of civ doesn't read that and go "FUCK YEAH". I was orgasming about it all game (though in my case I had protection from roleblock and conditional bulletproof so I wanted to turn into a murder machine")

Thanks for the praise! I couldn't have asked for a better replacement.speedchuck wrote: ↑Thu Mar 22, 2018 7:19 pm BTW, I don't know what the protocol is, but I think Dunya deserves credit for this scum win as well.
I did decent enough, but if I had not inherited a supahtown role, I'd have probably kicked the bucket much, much earlier.

Proof of that is how we killed rabbit off so we didn't have to face you, and assumed lap may have been replaced and you'd take her place.

Greater paranoia should always be accompained with greater reason.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Thu Mar 22, 2018 7:26 pmI am sure I will be more vigilant moving forward, even if I am not truly sure I should be. But we should stop giving people easy civ reads whenever they blow a thread. If it happens once a year, that's one game a year that civs are handing to baddies on a plate. It's too much.
Nonetheless, I doubt I will maintain a perfectly Vulcan mindset. Getting one's ass kicked has an effect for better or for worse.
My scumdar is mediocre at best. Look at this game, all of my reads were wrong. But people are praising me because I made effort and theorized the fuck out of player interactions. As long as I add 2 parts of Occam's Razor for each part of paranoia I put in my posts, I have a shot at winning.
Paranoia: dunya may be bad.
Reason: would she do this and that post if she were truly bad?
Etc

Also interesting how all of the new mods happened to be the scum MVPs of this game.
