look for a decent movie,
Look at the cast
Look for an actor/actress
Check that actor/actress' credits for 2018 for multiple films
Cross your fingers for a good awards contender

Question for you guys. The original rules I copied and pasted had a special bonus. Whichever player had tut most box office at the end of round 1 got a bye directly into round 3. I eliminated it thinking that we didn't have enough players for it, but would you like that bonus in there?
