Re: Ancient Greece Mafia [Day 1]
I don't like the case for nova right now; reading the thread, it looks like it's based on the whole sig thing, but then why wouldn't people just vote sig? Feels weird to me, but sig doesn't seem like scum either. I don't think using hedge words is necessarily a scum tell, I think some people just talk like that (you might notice I say the word "just" about a thousand times a post, for example.) Nothing after that changed my view of him.
I don't think Epignosis is scum right now. I think he doesn't give a shit, but there's a big difference there. I can't support lynching him.
So as far as people who did ping me ... The case against lunalee was interesting. I really don't like the scenario she outlines where Persians conspire on day 1 to lynch dunya, I don't think it's likely and it seems like big buddying. She kind of reminds me of my scum play in FWWM, possibly acting overly friendly as obfuscation. GTH, scum read right now, and that's the best I can go for.

Re: Ancient Greece Mafia [Day 1]
Colin's post, boiled down
"I have a reason not to vote nova and a reason not to vote epi and... err... there's one specific post about sig that isn't bad and then nothing changed my mind... so I'll vote off wagon"
All while sig is one vote behind.

Switched from town to vote on nova with minimal explanation
The top one gives context to the third but is also suspicious in and of itselfwhen does sig ever look town?
In all seriousness, though, I can't vote sig when I'm townreading him, despite the couple of things that bother me - and nova was there to defend sig's vote for him, which is meaningful I think - a vote has enough explanation if the votee can understand it's rationale.
So at least for now, and probably for final, I'm going to [VOTE: Epignosis] aubergine
Epi just slayed in GoC by providing real cases that looked good. His case on dunya is, frankly, basically meaningless but he's acting like it's a silver bullet.
And I will answer, "No."

There is literally no worse place to be than ten minutes before a vote where your vote could betray your connection to a teammate, and I feel like you squeeze a lot of blood right there.

Re: Ancient Greece Mafia [Night 1]
Darius’s invasion force completed the journey across the Aegean and landed at Euboea, where the Greeks had hardly even begun to mount any kind of defense force or to fortify their cities on the island. The Persians marched essentially unfettered and laid waste to much of the island, including a siege of the coastal city of Carystus. The Persians, under the command of Datis and Artaphernes, had demanded that Carystus supply them with troops to aid in their assault against neighboring Eretria and eventually at Athens. At first they refused, but the siege forced them to capitulate. The city of Eretria, caught in the warpath, was razed and its people enslaved. This diversion however provided Athens with time and warning to prepare for the eventual Persian landing in Attica, and the expected point of combat was at Marathon.
Moving on from Delos, the Barbarians stopped off at a number of islands, where they press-ganged the men into their army, and took the children of the islanders as hostages. In the course of this cruise from island to island, Datis was also provoked to dock at Carystus by the refusal of the Carystians to give him hostages, or consent to provide troops for an attack on cities that were their neighbours – by which, of course, they meant Eretria and Athens. Only when the Carystians were put under siege and had their land stripped bare were they brought round to the Persian view of the matter.
- Herodotus, The Histories, Book Six, Paragraph 99
Athenians were not known for their prowess in military combat at this point in their history. Their stance as a power north of the isthmus was primarily governmental and mercantile. The Spartans to the south, better respected for their capabilities in ground combat, had been summoned for aid, but they delayed in deliberations over tradition.
But to return to the time when Philippides story of Pan’s appearance was set. The second day after leaving Athens on his mission from the generals, he was already in Sparta. ‘Men of Lacedaemon,’ he said, once he had come before the officials, ‘the Athenians beg you for assistance. Do not, by looking the other way, allow the most ancient city in Greece to fall into bondage and the clutches of the barbarians. Already, Eretria has been reduced to slavery, and Greece thereby made the weaker by the loss of a famous city.’ This was the message he delivered, just as he had been instructed to do; but the Lacedaemonians, although keen to come to the help of the Athenians, were unable to do so right away, because of a law that they were most unwilling to break. ‘It is the ninth day of the month,’ they explained, ‘and because of that, we are unable to set out until the moon is full.’
- Herodotus, The Histories, Book Six, Paragraph 106
Eventually they did send troops, but it was too late for them to be of any immediate service. The Athenians had to fight alone at Marathon, under the command of ten generals including Militiades. It would become one of the most famous battles ever fought.

Re: Ancient Greece Mafia [Night 1]
Who switched off Epi at last second? Was it you, Golden? Marmot?
This is assuming Epi is bad, but I feel much better in his badness now

This is why I hate changeable votes. I always convince myself out of the thing I believe in. I should have voted Epi.

Someone talk shit about me so I won’t be NK’d tonight please. No one’s read me as bad yet

The answer: all of them, if you are a marmot.

Re: Ancient Greece Mafia [Night 1]
I will point out that there is no correlation between sig's affiliation and epignosis' affiliation and there's no guarantee I would have been right either way. I pushed epi hard all day and did not have any way of knowing I would be presented with the option of moving off him at the end and switching the lynch.
What annoys me most is I felt like sig reminded me of violet baudelaire in ASOUE and that's basically exactly what he ended up being. Sig was a shit lynch, I'll cop to it. A really shit lynch. So would nova have been. And I'll maintain that I think there's a very good chance there wasn't a single vote on mafia today.
I'm looking at Jack. I'm looking at Sloonei. I'm looking at Colin. Today did not go well.
