U-Pick will be for all intents and purposes a full sized role madness game. The only difference is, you pick your character. I have spent quite a while thinking about how I can pull of writing the game, roles and flavour in the time period without making this game a total fail and I do believe I have managed to accomplish the feat, but my confidence aside I would still err on the side of expecting the balance of this game to be potentially flawed. I have not intended to create a bastard experience, but it might end up becoming one if things get out of hand, so please don't be upset if this occurs. This is an experimental game, and I am making a point of inventing a lot of roles I haven't seen before, untested and on the fly. Like this pine cone married couple.
The game is a closed role setup. There may or may not be independents. There may or may not be multiple scum teams. There are ZERO vanilla roles. Some roles will suck to play. Some will be awesome. Most of the standard TS rules will apply (all the stuff about BTSC, the MOD etc.). This is going to be hard enough without having any challenging rules at play. The only real thing to note is that I am encouraging role claiming and role playing. So if you happen to select this can of deodorant, you might find the role playing experience rather tedious ... or maybe your role playing game is up to it?
Starting right now, the poll is open for 21 days. Anyone is welcome to sign up during this period. I have 15 pre-commits and have already started writing the game but I would like a lot more. I don't want to place a role cap on this game, nor a role minimum, so we will just start with whoever is in after 21 days. I would then ask for another 7 days to finish off the build. I will aim to start this game in approximately 28 days from now. If you have pre-committed, please affirm your commitment by clicking that there yes button. I have created a universe to portray the chaotic flavour of the game. My aim here is to create a challenging, immersive, surprising and entertaining game experience. Hint, I am a big Neil Gaiman fan.
