For those unfamiliar with Daily Fantasy Sports, the concept is simple: You select real life athletes from any teams in a given league while staying under a salary cap, and you compete with other contestants based on those athletes' performances in a given day. In this game, spectators will be drafting players as part of their own individual teams, hoping to score enough points to beat all the other spectators (henceforth called "Contestants").
If you sign up as a Player, be aware that before the game begins, you will be assigned a salary largely based on a formula, and you will not know your salary until endgame. Your assigned salary in no way reflects what I think of you as a person or player. The salary will also not be entirely based on the formula, because I will apply a second formula that introduces a bit of "noise" into the salary, reflecting my experience with the industry's algorithms not catching up to a certain athlete's recent production / injuries / or other factors. The bottom line is this: If you sign up for this, don't take your salary personally, and don't take how many times you were drafted personally. This is a game. Two games, really.
If you sign up as a Contestant, you will receive a player list with each individual's respective salaries. You will also receive a salary cap. You will have 48 hours (Day 0) to put together your roster. You must draft the required number of players- no more, no fewer. Everyone will have the same number of players. You may change your lineup at any time during Day 0, but once Day 1 begins, you cannot change anything (we call this "lock"). At lock, you will learn who is a civilian and who is mafia. As the game progresses, the players will accrue points or lose points based on the outcomes of each phase. Additionally, you will have a chatzy to comment on the game as it goes on, but at no point may you advise players of any aspect of the game, whether it's their salary or what's being said about them in the chat. The contestant with the highest number of fantasy points at endgame wins as an independent.
The game is for fifteen players, but an unlimited number of contestants are welcome. Feel free to ask any questions to clear up misunderstandings.
