I changed my mind on Kyle again. I don’t like this post. Even if he receives thorough responses from each of these people about their “history”, I have my doubts that he’d be likely to apply it to his hunting. It’s a question being asked for the sake of asking a question.

and they don't. well... sometimes they do. some things that might seem suspicious for a new player might not be suspicious for a player who's been playing mafia since 1983. the answers themselves are meaningless for games on a local level but in the grand scheme of things knowing what archetypes players belong to helps to understand what actions to expect from them and what things they do and don't so might be notable, ya know?

I looked into this Mac/Russ dynamic that MP mentioned. They've played in a game together three times:

Talking Heads - both mafia
Star Wars - Russ Jawa indy / Mac civilian
Romance of the Three Kingdoms - Russ civilian / Mac Nanman mafia

This wouldn't seem to point to whatever parallel MP was thinking of.

Yeah I just checked and I went at Russ hard in Star Wars when MP was pretty defensive of him. That's probably what MP is meaning.

That MUST have been it then. I'll go take a look later and see what I'm trying to recall. I must have just remembered Russ being not town; didn't realize he was 3p.

He was part of a third party faction though and they won the game along with the Hutt Mafia. He felt like Mafia and I took credit as it being a good catch regardless of him not outright being a Mafia faction member.

Oh, right! I had forgotten I even played in Star Wars. So iirc, the Jawas could've won with either faction, and town celebrated but I thought it was a mislynch because they were running out of time to get baddies. So to me the point you were making doesn't stand, MP, but I guess it's somewhat a grey area.

impressions of each player who posted in the last 9 pages in order of how soon i notice them while listening to Snail Mail's entire discography on shuffle:

Mp7 seems good because of huge energy having he is a steam engine and I believe in him

Jay.... good? Or enthusiastic back from break bad. good jay consistently....um..... I'm not going to say for meta reasons. but he's doing a thing he does often when he's good. i think his level of energy and huntingness is more indicative of a jay who is just coming off break and ready to kick ass rather than a jay who is just off of a break and ready to successfully lie to his friends online. I've also found myself agreeing with basically everything he's said so far.

Abyssum.... soft good, one of their posts in particular seemed informative and they have a good vibe in general. wish to see more from them

Turnip Head is as ever an enigma, his posts are succinct and to the point, far from each other. Iso him, Kyle.

Mac feels good, he's so far been the Mac that's not afraid to throw sticks in spokes, and carries a giant sword, I see this especially in his posts with jay. a berseker wolverine mac is a mac I trust. the "i'm faking my town meta to live up to expectations" also kinda puts him in the same place for me, and i've felt myself agreeing with many of his words he said out of his mouth

infected alien: I like their thing with Mac, I dont agree with it, but I like that it exists. I think when people walk into a new environment and make a big accusation based on borderline tinfoil telescopes, it's a brave thing, they don't know how that player will reacts or if they'll get lambasted. a civ is more likely to take that risk than mafia imo. they did a similar but sort of opposite thing later with defending dh against some of Jay's points, that confidence is a little more confusing...? people who've played with infected alien before, how would you characterize his gameplay? I think in general I like that they're not afraid to be contrary. but I'm also finding myself disagreeing with a lot of their thoughts, and in general i don't trust anyone who townreads me early without knowing me beforehand. so... idk. there's a lot here

DharmaHelper the things jay brought up about him are interesting and I'd like to look into him more in depth later via iso. this is a reminder here in this notepad app note for me to do that, don't forget, Kyle.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on Robot and Turnip Head, please.

Robot seems to be genuinely engaging with the thread and posting with substance. I liked the point he raised about people making themselves integral to town (although I disagreed with it in the case of MP), and the interaction below about focusing on Mac. Instead of immediately backtracking, he made a plan to follow up and reconsider based on that. It read to me as genuine.

Why am I the focal point of so many people's attempts to read the game yet everybody is on the fence with it? If you have suspicions of me voice them, if you don't then go look at others and find someone you do. We'll be voting for people soon.

who are you the focal point for? wouldn't define most people's play so far as being Solely Focused On MacDougall; maybe at some point that was true, but i think it's progressed and there are plenty of other topics that people are throwing around

I think I pointed more of a finger at MacDougall than I did at most people, and the resolution to our interaction was "robot probably is just straight-up wrong and should read the whole gotdamn thread before posting"

ISOing MacDougall is definitely something I plan on doing in the night though.

TH is basically playing the same as DH so far, I think....posting stuff that isn't revelant to scumhunting and generally giving the appearance of not reading the thread. I put him slightly lower for now because he seems less playful/more calculated about it. That could just be his personality, though. Alien is the only person I'm currently ready to vote for with no further evidence; I'd like to see more from TH, DH, Colin, sprityo, and Kyle to firm up my reads on them. I know that's like half the people in the game, but hey, it's Day 0. I forced myself to make some kind of call on them for the moment.
