I did it with white eyeshadow, a red make-up crayon I borrowed and later kept (she said I could keep it), and then I think it was black eyeshadow for the rest of it.

Re: Owner of a Lonely Heart - Interrogation Room
This one I sent to my bf this week.

So it is potentially a new favorite one.

I still enjoy this one.

This one is another good one.
It's hard to pick just one. I'm probably forgetting several really great and epic ones.

Re: Fractal - Interrogation Room
Thanks for playing a round of interrogation room Owner of a Lonely Heart, it was great learning more about you and I hope we get to play a game with you soon! <3 feel free to respond to any open questions in the meantime (:
For the next interrogation, let's welcome new member and fellow Swede, Fractal to the hot seat! Recruited to us through M Plus 7's champs game which Fractal was a part of, some of us have already played with Fractal in Courage the Cowardly Dog or the current hydra game (no talking about the latter till it's over). Just recently, he finished up Courage, a side mission hosted by Rico, and his first scum game on here which was really entertaining and interesting to see. Apart from playing mafia, we don't know much about Fractal so I can't wait to dig deep!
Fractal, to get things started: are you an only child or do you have siblings?
have you traveled much? where to?
what's your favorite swedish season?
what are 5 of your favorite foods?
have you ever eaten surströmming before? (for the people who don't know what this is, youtube will be interesting
)
what's your fav genre of music? do you go to any concerts?
are you blonde and blue eyed?
alright everyone, let's make Fractal feel the Syndicate love. get those questions rolling in!

Re: Fractal - Interrogation Room
Thanks to dunya for arranging this, hey all ^^
Also been on a couple of sun/bath vacations but they usually leave me bored pretty quick. I like to know i'll have activities that i enjoy if im going somewhere, otherwise i'll just stay home and save the money :D
-Flygande Jakob (dont think it has an english name)
-spaghetti carbonara
-chili shrimps
-most spicy stews with chicken/rice
I only spectated, but otherwise correct, his level of investment was pretty inspiringRecruited to us through M Plus 7's champs game which Fractal was a part of
2 siblings, both youngerare you an only child or do you have siblings?
Depends on who you compare to i guess. My favorite trip was to the US, where my family together with my cousins family hired a place in florida for 2 weeks. We went to universal's big amusement park and other fun trips. Also enjoyed a shorter skiing trip in sweden where we skiied on the days and played boardgames on the evenings.have you traveled much? where to?

Was summer while i went to school simply because of the 9-10 week vacation, but simply weatherwise i enjoy spring/autumn the most.what's your favorite swedish season? :p

I would very much like to try joining some poker tournaments in Las Vegas to see how I would do and it sounds like a cool experience.
- Favorite book? TV show? Movie?
Book: Harry potter and the methods of rationality.
Tv show: if anime is included its a tie between Hunter x Hunter (2011) and Deathnote. If not then House and the simpsons are both pretty good.
Movie: The dark knight (heath ledger's Joker is legendary)
- Do you prefer to be town or mafia?
Town.
- Most treasured moment as a member of the town?
Town games are less rememberable to me for some reason, even if i enjoy them in the moment more. One that comes to mind is when i was vigilante and the town just would never agree with the lynches i wanted during the days, so i just shot them in the night. I ended up shooting every single one of the 4 mafias. One of my proudest moments if nothing else.
- Most treasured moment as a member of the mafia?
During a game of IRL mafia i got the feelkng the person sitting on the other side of the ring from me was preparing to say something important. I just went with my hunch and instantly claimed cop with a red-check on the person who wanted the word in 1 breath. Turned out i was right and that person responded "no IM the cop", but it was too late and we ended up lynching the cop, who tried his damndest to convince people but the town just couldnt believe that I was mafia and randomly decided to fake claim a redcheck on the actual cop. Best feeling ever.

Not studying atm, but going to study half-time starting september (at least 1 course, I'll see what I decide to do after that).are you studying at the moment or working or both? what do you do?
Right now I only got 2 minor assignments:
-Part-time I'm a contact-person for a person with special needs that i meet a couple of times a month to do activities with
and
-Teaching table tennis to small kids that's starting out once a week during the summer.
My older cousin made me try mafia at a family gathering with small cousins etc, and I liked the concept of it (mainly that it's rules are so simple, but there's no strict right way to play, and you can be creative and make unconvensional strategies/tactics work) so she recommended me to check out the mafia room at a convention i was going to anyway. Once i found the room I was basically stuck there for the rest of the convention at all times they were playing. This was summer 2015, then I read some articles online and kept going to more conventions mainly for mafia. Then eventually I tried some online mafia aswell, on EpicMafia aswell as standard forum mafia.how did you start playing mafia?
2, English/Swedish. Could speak a very small amount of spanish while I had it in school years ago, but not anymore.how many languages do you speak?
I don't think i'd hate it, espcially if i had a book to read at the same time, but I've not really done it since i was 8 or 9. I do remember being proud catching a really small fish that I insisted we cooked and it was mostly bone, but it still tasted like victory.do you like fishing?

oh, wrong account, whatever.
Bonus facts about Foxy (Some part of the family says she's spelled "Foxie", but she's not):
-Likes cucumber
-Often goes outside for 1-3 minutes and then comes inside acting like she's dying of hunger (preferably to a person that doesn't know she hasn't been out for long)
-When someone is scratching her behind her ears, and she feels the person isn't giving it their all, for example only using 1 hand, she'll gently bite the person in the chin until they give her all the attention/respect she feels she deserves.
-As soon as she smells the faintest trace of shrimps, she'll sit and look up with as big cute eyes as she can muster, for up to 10 minutes.

Re: Fractal - Interrogation Room
Social deduction games are generally my favorites. I enjoy Resistance and secret hitler (both with some house rules to make the weak points of the games more interesting IMO), but favorite game in that genre is "don't mess with chuthulu". It's not as widespread as the others, but it's really good in that it fits newers players more, while still having a lot of depth for experienced players. I just love that game to my core.- Do you enjoy tabletop and other board/strategy/card games other than mafia? If so, what are some of your favorites?
Apart from social deductions i really enjoy Codenames, i've played it loads with both family and friends.
(i guess you'd count League of Legends as a strategy game, i play that quite a lot)
uhm, if you define pro as earning money (no matter how little), i guess I technically am a "table tennis pro" until the end of summer :haha:- Table tennis! That's cool. Are you a table tennis pro then? Do you play standard tennis as well?
No, i don't play normal tennis even though i've thought it's been fun the few times i tried it. I played table tennis from when i was 8 to like 15, then i quit, and now i recently started again 9 months ago or so (i'm 21 now).
Nope, no other sport- Do you enjoy any other sports? If so, what is (are) your favorite(s) to spectate and/or play?
I generally think it's more fun to play sports myself than watch them so i don't really watch much sports except for sweden in the football world cup for example. The "exception" if you can call it that is league of legends e-sports, which i watch decently regularly.

Re: Fractal - Interrogation Room
I use long pimples on backhand, and a slow spin-heavy normal rubber on forehand. It's kinda hard to decide which of back/forehand i prefer since they're so different, but both are needed to complete the playstyle. Most of the time I use my pimples (backhand) to gain advantages and then try to finish it off with a forehand attack.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Thu Jul 19, 2018 2:23 am Table tennis is the only sport I love as much as ultimate frisbee. :nicenod:

I'm currently really enjoying reading The Rook by Daniel O'Malley. I just picked it up this weekend, and I think I'll want to do something mafia related with it sometime.- Favorite book(s)?

I'd argue that Codenames also has a social deduction element, at least in my experience there's a very psychological/personal bent to deciphering the clues. I love that game as well, and Resistance is fun too (haven't played it as much)

and since owner just mentioned game design, have you ever been into that/made your own games of any kind (computer/board/whatever or i guess mafia design would also count)?

I think people generally use "social deduction" as a term for hidden-role games that's derived from mafia, but yeah Code names is certainly a social game including a lot of deduction.nutella wrote: ↑Thu Jul 19, 2018 9:16 pm I'd argue that Codenames also has a social deduction element, at least in my experience there's a very psychological/personal bent to deciphering the clues. Was a while since last time but now and again I go back to wc3/sc2 custom games that i've always enjoyed, so i'd call those my 2 favorites after league. I recently replayed Cave Story, and it's still great. Undertale is pretty awesome too.
Game design is cool, and even though I've never made a bigger project/game it's always interested me. When i was like 5-7 y/o i kept making levels in a game called "Rocks and Diamonds" and made my dad play them. If i play something it's constantly in the back of my mind if there's something simple that could be changed to make it more enjoyable somehow.

Infected_alien8_ & Tsaiah - Interrogation Room
Thanks to Fractal for being last month's new member to take the hot seat (super cute cat btw!) and I'm happy to announce we have some new blood among us...
For the next two interrogations, we're doubling the trouble, and pairing our familiar faces up. Let's welcome new members Infected_alien8_ & Tsaiah to the hot seat! Recruited to us once again through M Plus 7's champs games, both Infected_alien and Tsaiah have already recently made their Syndicate debuts playing the Epi-hosted Fantasy Mafia which a lot of us were betting on or participating in. What a great intro for both of them, hell of a performance all around by both sides; well done.
Infected_alien8_ / Tsaiah to get things started: where are you from?
how often do you use facebook?
do you read the newspaper?
can you speak any other languages?
what's one physical feature you wish you could change about yourself?
what do you do for a living/study?
ok folks, time to get those questions pouring in.
(p.s. male pronouns for Infected_alien8_ and female pronouns for Tsaiah)

I've never had waffles, so pancakes I guess!
Do you prefer vanilla mafia or wacky madness mafia?
Wacky madness mafia!
What was your most memorable mafia moment/game?
Probably when I tricked a member of the Mafia into revealing all of their teammates to me and exposed them all, for the second time

Pasta probably. Like, spaghetti bolognese or something.
do you think people are inherently good or evil?
I don't know. I don't want to give an answer for that because I don't have one so whatever I write would be something I've only come up with right now and would probably be something I'd find a flaw in later. I also don't have a personal definition of 'good' or 'evil'.
I will say that I think I tend to gravitate towards a pessimistic view of the human race in general, but I wouldn't go so far as to say I think people are inherently evil. There are some people I see as absolutely good through and through and have nothing but love for them.
But I don't know whether I think people are ever 'inherently' good/evil, and if people are, in general, one or the other, I don't know which I'd ultimately decide on. I think a lot of people are capable of doing good things for others for example, kindness and thoughtfulness, and I think those same people are often capable of doing bad things for others and having selfish acts as well. I don't know if that means those selfish acts are 'evil' though. I've met some people who lean far one way over the other (far more giving than selfish, and vice versa). I'm not really sure where that leaves me.
So yeah, my answer is still 'I don't know' lol
I definitely want to hear the long version of this story!

Also about the 'good vs evil' thing, I don't think I'm 'inherently good' or anything and when I say that I tend to lean towards viewing the human race in general in a pessimistic way, that includes myself, just in case anyone thought I was sitting on a high horse saying I thought I was better than anyone else lol, that's not the case!Infected_alien8_ wrote: ↑Tue Aug 28, 2018 12:11 am what's your favorite food? we're all big foodies around here.

@Tsaiah, are there any players who you feel have most influenced your approach to Mafia (from any site)?
Each of you: what was the first Internet forum you regularly visited?
I learnt a *lot*, but one thing would be to keep my attention on things that are actually alignment-indicative. In my first game, there was a player called SR, and I found myself mindmelding with him a l o t, like the things he'd say were things I wanted to say too, and because of that, I was able to view my own thoughts laid out to the thread but coming from someone else, which proved to be a really useful experience. I learnt that, as he admitted, a lot of the thoughts I had that I pursued - ones I had withheld from saying in that particular game because he was already saying it all, but on my homesite they were things I'd flood the thread with - were actually more about picking at people's logic than actually determining their alignment. I realized I spent a great deal of time playing Mafia pointing out logical flaws or loopholes in others' arguments and acting as though logical flaws meant they were Mafia, when really a lot of it was just not indicative of alignment because we all sometimes make errors in logic regardless of alignment (myself included obviously). And it was only through seeing SR pursue things like that, that I questioned 'okay but, is this actually relevant to their alignment?', and a few others questioned it to, and he basically said that a lot of the time he didn't really think that far ahead about that, just saw logical error and wanted to dig into it, which is exactly how I was too, and it was like 'woah... that's what I DO!'. So I learnt that some things aren't alignment-indicative and some are, and even though keeping everything logical is useful in Mafia, spending all my energy and flooding the thread with pushing at someone for a logical flaw isn't the best use of my time. I should have learnt that already since I've mislynched someone for logical flaws before, but it took seeing someone else do it to make me realize what I had to change. It was pretty amazing.
I mean who knows maybe I completely misinterpreted what SR was saying and we weren't actually on the same page about that and it was just me but I still learnt a lot from him lol
what was the first Internet forum you regularly visited?
My homesite, though it went by a different name back then, but it's been my #1 forum ever since I was 12 or so, and up until like two years ago was the only one I'd ever used.
Re: Infected_alien8_ & Tsaiah - Interrogation Room
Facebook: never? xD I -have- an account, but i primarily used it to get back in contact qith some old high school and college friends, and i've just never been interested in posting frequent feed updates, so xD
Newspaper: i enjoy reading online newspapers (tho i tend to do my news catchups in spurts). The harder part these days is finding media that is actually primarily text-based--i go to news outlets to -read- the news, not to watch videos, for the most part, and so many of them (even online newspapers) are heavy on videos now ;;
Lanuagues: speak, no. xD But i've always been fascinated by other languages, and i enjoy learning them. :3 i did get to a point where i could understand juuust enough Japanese to catch vague gists in anime, but i'm rusty now. Studying Latin (dead languages woo!) and German in school was also fun.
Physical feature: Uhhh, hmm. xD I've grown more comfortable in just looking like i happened to look, over the years, but if i could -now- I'd probably just Avatar-movie-style transfer me into a younger version, loool
For a living: Right now i work at Chili's, and almost all my jobs have been in customer service of some type.
Study: i majored in English, and i'd rather be a fiction writer, but that doesn't pay the bills! xD I do still write regularly for fun, tho.
Re: Infected_alien8_ & Tsaiah - Interrogation Room
Oh i missed where from: Mississippi, US
Re: Infected_alien8_ & Tsaiah - Interrogation Room
- Umm, pancakes most often (tho occasionally a really strong waffle mood hits me). They're both good tho!speedchuck wrote: ↑Mon Aug 27, 2018 3:49 pm Hey guys.

What was your most memorable mafia moment/game?
- Both--very mood and game dependent. I enjoy a good mountainous (no prs at all), a lower-power classic game, or intensely brain exploding mechanics. Probably like the two extreme ends the very most, thinking about it--all the crazy mech, or none at all!
- Ooh, memorable moments...there are so many, tho! Just randomly picking a few:xD
FR's TV Tropes 1, an intense, looong, 24-hour phase crazed mechanics fest, where I first started getting to know my significant other, Polygone. :3
MU's first anniversary game, the celebration and screaming when the last mafia was lynched on d7 (i was town doc, had claimed on d4, and mafia had left me alive to try to mislynch x3; )
FR's TV Tropes 2, the point at which as scum, i was forced to walk back a hard push on my bud and longtime rival Fish, when he outted as alignment cop. Took me an hour or two to nail the tone, but somehow i managed it successfully in one post--and simultaneously pocketed Fish in the process xD (still consider that my best scumgame hue)
FR's Lollipop, Lollipop, where my beloved mafia friend Stanari got sort of mechanically outted, and proceeded to utilize the editing-allowed rule that game by editing almost all of her hundreds of posts into BIRD GIFS. xD Then later claimed that her wincon flipped between mafia and town so believably, that even after all that, I BELIEVED HER xD (we didn't kill her for days!)
MU's introduction to FR-style role madness games in the form of Poly's Sukilimas 1 :3
5 people 400-800 posted on d1--and only -one- of them was town. xD By far my favorite hard-fought LOSS to a great mafia team hue
And pretty much any game where i've gotten to have an amazing neighborhood chat! Top among those: chat with town abyssum!

Re: Infected_alien8_ & Tsaiah - Interrogation Room
- Pizza! Almost all cheeeeeses. Sushi. Asian style noodles. Danishes with coffee. And red bull? xD
- GOOD. The vast majority, at any rate. And i feel very, very strongly about this. :3
