I haven’t considered bussers yet. Sprit and chuck are the two I’d immediately see supportive teammate connections with Luna. I talked about the peculiar (even for them) relationship between speedchuck and luna in one of my posts towards the end of the day. I’d like to look further into it to see if there’s really anything there.

Sprit is up there for the same reasons as before. I approached this day with an eye for people who I felt were pushing me dishonestly. Luna was one of them, sprit was the other.

Neither of these are fully formed reads yet, just my first impression after that lynch.

This is another post where I wonder whether sprit is being authentic. Perhaps it is just a difference in playstyle, but to arrive at a point on the second day phase (which is called Day 3 in this game) to "not see" room for a player to be town, in the absence of any definitive connections or out-of-thread information seems, to me, counter-intuitive. My concern is that sprit is over-emphasizing the strength of his Sloonei suspicion. This is how sprit framed his hypothetical of me being town:

Here's the unlikely scenario:

Sloonei is town, he gets pursued by mac who is not someone to back down off his intuition. Sloonei isnt lynch, much to mac's dismay. then during the night, mac still paints him as someone bad, essentially a guarantee he's gonna try to lynch sloonei on day2. He even goes as far as to taunt sloonei to kill him. Mafia kills mac and waits for someone to attack sloonei.

Right off the bat he characterizes it as "unlikely". He is discrediting it before it's even introduced. He then describes a series of events which, by my reckoning, are entirely likely. "Sloonei" is a passive agent in this scenario. His only role is to be the subject of Macdougall's suspicion. I feel like this is a dismissal of the figure of Sloonei entirely and don't know why this is the reduction he provides, but it does not actually seem to address the involvement of the player against whom he is making an accusation.

He then poses this rhetorical question:

so would mafia kill mac to blame sloonei? or would sloonei kill mac to take the pressure and focus off himself?

This reduces the scope a bit too much, to two binary points of direct opposition. There are a myriad of possible scenarios that do not align completely with either of these. Certainly these could both be possible influences which went into the decision to kill Mac, but neither is a complete picture. I would not offer a complete speculation into why Macdougall was killed, but my very general theory is that it's because he's a player the mafia team wanted to have removed and who was unlikely to become the target of a lynch himself. I think it would then be likely that the mafia team would then take the opportunity to pursue suspects who had been named by the nightkilled player, Macdougall. sprityo, however, does not directly acknowledge this possibility and instead places it under the umbrella of "an unlikely scenario". But I do not see why this scenario would be deemed unlikely.

I've moved sprit to the same level as Luna because the case I presented in my most recent post felt more convincing than anything I'd previously articulated. I especially do not like his framing of the "unlikely scenario" which would allow me to be read as town.
There's also a lot of light green that I don't love to have, but I have no direct reason to scum read anyone in that group of players, and I prefer to offer a stance whenever I can. There's also too many players on whom I can offer no stance at all. The darker green tiers and the orange/red tiers are the reads I would regard as solid at this point. Everything else is weak and ill-defined. That's, you know, how rainbow lists work.

Marmot came in and asked why he should vote for Luna, then said he liked Sloonei's case and hopped on without so much as an original thought. Smelled fishy.

Bullz's vote in retrospect doesn't look as bandwagony as I had thought, but he just gives the one reason that Luna was avoiding responsibility for her Nova vote, and in the same post he says some conditional thing that if luna flipped civ he'd go back to looking at you (sloon).

Actually I haven't mentioned this yet because I otherwise townread him but the other person who looked bus-ish was Kyle. His reasons are his "tie meta" (a real thing to be fair) and "also i trust her voters a lot more than i trust sloonei's, and the case makes more sense" which sounded just a little fake to me somehow. it looked like a decision that he didn't really back up with anything and this is what he came up with. Idk, I guess it could be consistent with town kyle to just state that he agrees with whatever case more in order to pick a candidate in time after doing his reading/weighing/reasoning, but it also struck me as the kind of thing a bussing teammate would say.

[mention]Dyslexicon[/mention] can you explain what exactly it is that makes Nova incompatible with Luna? Is it just how EOD1 went down because I can see a world in which her progression on him is a bus or a world in which it is a save attempt on one of the other candidates.

My approach to the day was to look for people who pushed against me in ways that seemed dishonest to me. If it seems like I’m just repeating myself, it’s because I am. I’m not shre what your point is here.

I appreciate that. I'm not used to relying so much on instinct. It makes me appreciate being able to ask people about their targets at night and threading together the facts. In this game, it's more about how the players are posting, which I've been trying to wrap my head around.

I appreciate that. I'm not used to relying so much on instinct. It makes me appreciate being able to ask people about their targets at night and threading together the facts. In this game, it's more about how the players are posting, which I've been trying to wrap my head around.

It’s a different animal for sure. My first HC Realms experience was a huge culture shock. I nearly got lynched on Day 1 and had no idea why, all because people wanted me to roleclaim and I wasn’t used to playing in games where that was even legal. Our rules against info-dumping provide a challenge when trying to fully implement Realms-style gameplay here, but I definitely think there’s insight that can be provided through the lens you guys bring with you.

At the same time I encourage you to try to dabble in our style(s). There’s no right way to play mafia, and experimentation helps keep it fresh.

I said "tie meta" as a joke. that wasn't actually an example of tie-meta, outside of the fact that my vote created a tie. the purpose of tie meta is to put two equally suspicious characters in jeopardy in the final moments forcing the mafia to scramble or else leave the results in the hands of the gods in a scenario where i don't feel like i can make a decision more effectively than the um.... the aforementioned gods. my vote for Luna was more about moving sloonei out of a lead that i didn't feel was justified than about creating a lasting tie.
