Wow okay things got a little crazy after I fell asleep. No one was even suspecting wolbre and then all of a sudden they're lynched and civ. RIP wolbre! I feel like that came out of nowhere. There's so much to read and catch up on.

Re: Mafia: A World Asunder - GAME THREAD [Night 1]
All right I am still 2 pages behind, but I have to go walk the dog, so will take this back up later:
This post, of all the Wolbre votes I saw reads as the most hypocritical; voting for a guy becasue his player impressions post was not all that from a guy who made no posts even similar to it. If you had just said "save myself" that would have actually sounded better to me. This post sounds like trying to sound legit, and that's baddie.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just passed the point where Wolbre self voted
Do you not make an effort when you are bad? TH keeps saying this too, that post count while under irl stress = civvie. That is just not true. Lotsa posts when busy =/= civvie. No.Sloonei wrote: ↑Mon Dec 10, 2018 12:25 amDo you think I could fake this level of effort while also dealing with finals? If so then you really need to stop putting me on such a pedestal. And you guys actually did it? CFD someone who actually sounded pretty civ? Yikes.MacDougall wrote: ↑Mon Dec 10, 2018 12:34 amThis is... actually extremely Mafia sounding lol.
Can you point out which of his posts sounded like busy work? I saw that you poked his long post where he made observations as "busy work". Where was your better one?
Re: Mafia: A World Asunder - GAME THREAD [Day 1]
This sounds like some pointless piece of context. Why do you need to say someone else's post is "similar to what put DDL under scrutiny"? Who put me under that scrutiny? It wasn't you. So why are you using someone else's scrutiny of me to analyse a third person?Sloonei wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 10:37 pm Taking a closer look at Luna to see how I feel about her contributions as a whole:
Cites a rule that could be broken if we're not careful. This can be seen in the same vein as DDL's mechanics-talk which got him into trouble. I'm not sure I want to treat it that way, but it's there.
It doesn't feel like a civ way of thinking imo. It's like you are trying to create connections that don't mean anything just because you need connections to create.
I'd say town but not strongly. Her stuff about defending the poor wishy-washy populations reads genuine as fuck, but is also not entirely related to the game. It's not like mafia can't be genuine. But I feel no reason to read her as bad so far. I did say she was super fluffly early but that wasn't exactly AI.
Re: Mafia: A World Asunder - GAME THREAD [Day 1]
Supatowning is when somebody looks like they are making a huge amount of town effort. Very subjective.Dana wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 11:31 pm I have a few questions from way back in the thread:
What is supertowning?
What is a truth meta? Is it literally just saying "I'm gonna tell the truth"? Because isn't that the whole point of this game?
I'm still a few pages behind but I've been taking some notes and attempting to form some opinions so I will be back again soon but this game is wild.
Hi, I am!
Truth meta is when a person refuses to lie in games ever. They just hate doing it. If they are mafia they will say "I'm mafia" if you ask their alignment. If they are town they are confirmed by default when they claim. In this site only Glorfindel does that, afaik, and he's not playing. Enrique did say he has a truth meta "for only one game" but that doesn't make sense, because like you said, that's the point of the game.
I’m a little offended that you all think I would do such bush league stuff as a mafioso.
I enjoyed this assessment and at this point in time would have voted in agreement.Quin wrote: ↑Sat Dec 08, 2018 10:05 pmbecause if you want someone lynched you need to make a case on them. that is how mafia works.timmer wrote: ↑Sat Dec 08, 2018 7:17 pm Actually, to be more clear, Luna's vote seems fine. I was trying to reference this POST of hers: "Sorry, but that is not a god reason to vote someone. Anything Jack has done this game to make you suspect him?"
I don't like when people try to make big deals out of anyone's day 1 vote, because frankly, to me they ALL are weak votes. Why call one specific one out?
Voting for me is NEVER cool.Sloonei wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 1:07 am I've added another town read to my list.
I have a genuine Day 1 suspicion of Colin, but am I little anxious about the ease with which his case gained momentum. His post about bandwagonining DDL is patented shady-nasty business, but I don't know how to feel about the seemingly exaggerated scrutiny it's received. Then again, there's also the fact that we have two scum teams. It's entirely possible for scum to pile on an easy bandwagon that ends up being correct. I'd like for Colin to say things. I'll lay out my own gripes against them so he has more variety to respond to. I was voting for Colin before it was cool, after all.
Well that’s just like, your opinion, man.Sloonei wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 1:21 am Colin beefI never cared about lynching Tranq and my vote was just a thing to get people talking. Colin offered tentative support but backed away from saying anything meaningful about it. This post is indifference disguised as activity.ColinIsCool wrote: ↑Sat Dec 08, 2018 3:29 pmI like it as far as where your mind’s at hunt-wise, but being unfamiliar with Tranq I’m reluctant to support it.
And then this. There's one argument to be made that Colin is too cool to care about petty Day 1 votes against him because he knows (assumes) that I'm not being serious and just want to get him to squirm (if that's the case, what's with his response to my Tranq vote?). There's a counterargument that Colin is trying to feign this nonchalant attitude by downplaying the fact that he's got a vote against him.
These two posts do not register as the consistent mindset of a civilian to me. The first suggests an attitude of partial investment in the hunt, but with a slight aftertaste of waffles and indecision. The second suggests a calculated indifference to the hunt.
There is a world where my indifference and nonchalance are not calculated. Is it the world we live in?
Because it’s Day 1. You’ve lamented yourself how difficult Day 1 often is. I wasn’t distracted from my suspicion on Colin.I was simply discussing it within the context of the game. I then laid out my case in another post shortly after, but you’re not looking at that because it’s not included in Epi’s (intentionally) bullshit case.timmer wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 2:56 am Just reread it. You say you have a case but then the next sentences are all qualifiers and concerns about side angles which serve to weaken it. You spend more time on the side stuff that concern you about it than your actual suspicion. I don't know how else to explain your post to you, lol. I'm heading to bed, g'night. Hopefully you will see things clearly soon.
My read on Sloonei has progressed to more uncertain waters in the wake of this Epi case. Almost as if Sloonei is belaboring what he knows to be a bad lynch (even if I’m not on his supposed Mafia team, I presume he thinks I’m not on the other one either) so that he doesn’t look bandwagony.
RIP Brennan, I was hoping to play with you longer. I read through EOD and understand what happened and I'm really sorry.
Sloonei, I find it odd that after being here all day you chose to present a case on me after I left after I said in the thread I wouldn't be around for EOD. I will address your case but it will have to be later today because I have a doctor's appointment I have to get ready for this morning. I also need to re-read EOD before I offer comments on the other goings on because there was so much happening.
[mention]Long Con[/mention] usually there is a polls thread that goes with each game where the host publishes the polls,, like the one for yesterday. Are we going to have that this game and if so, did you save last night's poll? If the answer is "no", did anyone save a screen shot of the poll at closing?
OK, I will be back later in the day to walk through the case against me.
Is it scummy ... to say that I like a post?colonialbob wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 3:55 pmThis was the main ping. Up to this point he had asked a mechanics question and said he voted for the N0 poll randomly. His first engagement with the actual game was to say he liked Epi's post on DDL, with no elaboration or follow up. Since I was going to be out of pocket all day, I figured I would rather have my vote out there and doing something than locked up tight and useless, so I voted. I didn't want to say my reason, because it gives him an easy out if he's mafia to make the suspicion go away. I wanted to see a response not based on my suspicion, and sure enough I got it. Not giving a reason also sort of forces people who jump on the wagon to supply their own reasoning, rather than just saying "yep I agree." D1 I think that's particularly valuable.ColinIsCool wrote: ↑Sat Dec 08, 2018 9:58 am I didn’t say what I voted for but it was the Become More, sorry.
Maleficus Revellus sounds like it reveals baddies, or their actions. I would HP-translate it as "Badness revealed".
Although "Revellos" could also mean "revel", like "badness celebration", lol.
Gonna go with Aurium Unmysterium, sounds like some sort of clarity, and clarity is good.
Also again, asking people who were here eod to give their takes on what happened in here. That could help us who weren't understand it better.
Also why were people trying to lynch someone who had no votes at the time she clearly said she would not be here at EOD (on day one no less), for her normal meta of asking alot of questions and trying to reason out both sides of a story? This is Juliets IRL meta as well as her game meta. What was that all about?
Although "Revellos" could also mean "revel", like "badness celebration", lol.
Gonna go with Aurium Unmysterium, sounds like some sort of clarity, and clarity is good.
Also again, asking people who were here eod to give their takes on what happened in here. That could help us who weren't understand it better.
Also why were people trying to lynch someone who had no votes at the time she clearly said she would not be here at EOD (on day one no less), for her normal meta of asking alot of questions and trying to reason out both sides of a story? This is Juliets IRL meta as well as her game meta. What was that all about?
...ebwop, although "Minoritus Injuraboo" is so intriguing, I can't imagine what that means.
I would contend that scum are more likely to let real life be overruled by Mafia, but maybe that’s not the case in your personal experience. (It is in mine.)Turnip Head wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 7:52 pm Sloonei boi is town, he had a real life excuse for not being active yet he has a buttload of posts
I like how playing my game is a punishment on the rest of us (if you are town here).Sloonei wrote: ↑Mon Dec 10, 2018 12:05 am It reminds me of that time when MP and I were literally the only two people in the thread in Search for Quin and he insisted that I must be scum because I was the only person in the game actively pushing any theories. Because I was the only other person bothering to do anything at all. I got lynched because nobody else was playing.
That's essentially what Mac is suggesting right now. It's obnoxious and idiotic and if I get lynched I'm gonna be annoyed and sign up for Colin's heist.
I’m amazed that Mac thought this. I’ve liked his jusgment a lot up to this point.MacDougall wrote: ↑Mon Dec 10, 2018 12:41 am I kinda don't want to lynch Wolbre because I like him, he's hilarious and he hasn't played in ages but dude is mafia.
