Timmer is the bear that we don't have to outrun. We just have to not be the person he eats until the last round.
our Linkitis is our lives.

Wish I kept Viggo. Coulda picked up Green Book, Shoulda got Eight Grade.
Next year now that I'm used to playing and know the tips and tricks I'll probably pick up less box office $ and more awards garbage.

Re: Fantasy Movie Thread - In-Season Thread
Let's go over the win points for the Golden Globes in 2 days:
"- Nomination: 1 point each (films earn 1 point for every nomination in any category, actors earn 1 point for every nomination they specifically earn, but not for ones their film earns)
- Best Film win: 10 points (film selections only; for the Golden Globes, 10 points will be given to the two films that win Drama and Comedy/Musical); if a studio owns a doc, foreign or animated film they only earn 10 points for BP-equivalent wins, not their genre-specific categories (that counts as "All other categories" below)
- Actor win: 5 points to actor selections, 2 points to film selections (lead and supporting, and only 2 points to an actor and film when part of the SAG ensemble win)
- Director win: 5 points (film selections only)
- Screenplay win: 5 points (film selections only)
- All other categories: 2 points (film selections only)"
So DH has received one point for each of A Star Is Born's various nominations. If A Star Is Born wins Best Picture, DH would gain 9 points as it would now be WORTH 10 instead of 1. If A Star Is Born wins Best Director, DH will gain 4 points (a director win is valued at 5, and he's already counted 1 with the nomination).

Also, the first of the guilds announced nominations today, the PGA.
“BlacKkKlansman,” “Black Panther,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Crazy Rich Asians,” “The Favourite,” “Green Book,” “A Quiet Place,” “Roma,” “A Star Is Born,” and “Vice” have been nominated for the Producers Guild’s Darryl F. Zanuck Award as the top feature film of 2018.
Holders of those films will each earn a point, if they make it to round 4.

@insertnamehere @M plus 7
Thx for playing guys but you've been eliminated.
I'll double check my numbers tomorrow but I believe the final tally for round 2 was:
Timmer 42
Golden 15
JJJ/DH 14
Rico/Dunya 13
Inh 8
Mp7 2
Those points are now wiped away and we 6 move onto round 3.

To be fair I think the critics awards are going to be all over A Star is Born and CYEFM is basically "Critics: The Movie" so, slam dunkerino.

Re: Fantasy Movie Thread - In-Season Thread
Yeah Grant has a few wins to get, still, though McCarthy will have to be happy with noms. And I'm a bit surprised at how badly ASIB played out at the globes,... it only got song? That's shocking.
If this year is going to come down to Bohemian Rhapsody vs green book, it will be one of the weakest years ever.

Re: Fantasy Movie Thread - In-Season Thread
Squeaking by just on Noms alone, I'll take it. That is, if I can get past the absolute razor thin race of R3.

Re: Fantasy Movie Thread - In-Season Thread
I had Bohemian Rhapsody for the longest time and ditched it because I figured it'd only be good for Noms which I felt secure in anyway given CYEFM and ASIB.

Re: Fantasy Movie Thread - In-Season Thread

1. Not gonna catch you in pts regardless
2. Not gonna lose out in points most likely given my actors/other films.
Bit of a misstep but not heartbreaking.

Re: Fantasy Movie Thread - In-Season Thread
timmer A cursory google/glance at 2019's release slate tells me two things:
1. If we do this again and get more people, everyone will be lucky to have maybe 1 good movie in their rosters
2. I'm gonna need a high draft position.

Oh absolutely. On my film site, the only parts of my roster even in awards contention are If Beale Street Could Talk, Christian Bale and Emily Blunt.DharmaHelper wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 3:57 pm @timmer A cursory google/glance at 2019's release slate tells me two things:
