I'm not sure if it would be better for me to just make one big post, or if these little responses are fine. I guess on some sites I've gotten complaints when I've done bigger posts, so I guess it kind of depends on how many phone users we have on this site.

It appears that you and Luna both think the same way. Let me ask you this, since the concept of liking the way a person arrives at a conclusion without necessarily agreeing with that conclusion is difficult to grasp, do you believe there is more than one way to achieve a goal?nutella wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 9:52 pmI am tending to agree so far. If someone says “This is how I wash a window. This is the only right way.” Would you agree with them? Or would you think, hmm, that’s not how I wash windows, and my windows are clean.
If someone thinks a situation through, and explains their thought process (whether I agree with them or not), it may or may not be the same way I would think it through, but I can still appreciate their reasoning. I’m not going to say they have to think the same way that I think.
So, with that thought covered, I’ll now voice an opinion, although it is apt to change. I frequently find people who are aggressive on day zero and day one, to be bad. At this early point in the game, I’m looking at the aggressive people.

Re: Gossip Girl Mafia [Day 1]
This argument has been taken too far and too literally. Of course I understand that it's possible to like the way someone thinks without agreeing with their conclusion. That's not my problem. My problem is how you used that phrase to mean that literally when it is often interpreted in casual conversation to mean agreement, and somehow you didn't dispel the natural implicature and freaked out when people drew that conclusion from your statement. Maybe this is just a cultural/idiolectal difference between us but the way you are increasingly logicking your way out of this argument is giving me bad vibes.Matahari wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 12:04 amIt appears that you and Luna both think the same way. That’s okay, I don’t mind getting voted. It’s been a long time since I played, but you might remember me as someone who never explains things well, that hasn’t changed lol.
I remember you as someone who was always on the offense early in games, and it was never indicative of being town or mafia.
Can you tell me what you think about JJJ? His making snap decisions, and naming off a variety of players, is that a diversionary tactic that mafia would use? Or is it him just being silly?

I got a more fake vibe from it than I have gotten from civ jay poo-flinging in other games though. Like it was more forced than usual and I feel like he usually tries to generate more varied/interesting content at the beginning of d1 than just "Z bad, Y bad, X good" for several posts.

Re: Gossip Girl Mafia [Day 1]
Here's a helpful answer: I've been gone for a few years, so I have no idea.

Further thoughts on my previous post:
I just disliked the way it was 3J trying to guide / run the day's conversations. I know from past experience he has a tendency to do that, however it did make it hard for me to form opinions on others, because it felt like he was the ring master. I don't want to look to anyone else to tell me how to feel, or "create content" or direct the thread, or lead discussion. Makes it too easy for others to just sit back and watch, if that makes sense.

Re: Gossip Girl Mafia [Day 1]
I don't see any gross anomalies except Jay which I covered earlier but I accept his explanation for his quietness today while he focuses on the other game. ( [mention]indiglo[/mention] keep in mind I am comparing him to his other recent and current game). I don't have a good base for judging you and Mata because I haven't played with you recently. The problem is so many people have mastered the art of posting in the same style regardless of alignment.

That's an advantage. Who cares about what's typical? Tell me what you feel in your heart.

I suspect indiglo but I don't wanna lynch her in her first game back in a long time.

Re: Gossip Girl Mafia [Day 1]
That might not be a bad sentiment. On the other hand, my proclivities historically to scrutinize overly aggressive behavior (which was also said previously and more eloquently by Matahari - hi, by the way, it’s so nice to see you), but that might not be fair to those with their tester one set to Turbo.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 12:59 pmThat's an advantage. I don't believe we have played together before. Nice to meet you Matahari! I've been playing online mafia here for about a year.Matahari wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 6:37 pmIn my case, it means I like the way he explained his thought process. I don’t have to agree with his or anyone’s conclusions, but it is nice to see how they arrived at those conclusions.Lunalee wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 6:03 pmMatahari, usually when someone says, "I like the way you think," it means "I agree with your thought process." I have never been told "I like the way you think" followed with, "but I disagree with you."Matahari wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 4:50 pmNot necessarily. Liking the way you think isn’t the same as agreeing with how you think. It’s too early for me to decide whether someone is bad or not.
Just saying this feels like a strange backwards progression in response to Jay's question. Was there something else Jay said that you agree with other than his indiglo suspicion?
But I am not usual![]()
Have we played together before? If not, it’s nice to meet you.

What is your exact reason for suspecting me? Because I make jokes?JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 1:00 pm I suspect indiglo but I don't wanna lynch her in her first game back in a long time.![]()

I'm still deciding. But I think it's unhelpful either way, a point on which we clearly inherently disagree.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 12:52 pmDoes your "dislike" imply that you suspect me for my Day 0 behavior?indiglo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 12:32 pmFurther thoughts on my previous post:
I just disliked the way it was 3J trying to guide / run the day's conversations. I know from past experience he has a tendency to do that, however it did make it hard for me to form opinions on others, because it felt like he was the ring master. I don't want to look to anyone else to tell me how to feel, or "create content" or direct the thread, or lead discussion. Makes it too easy for others to just sit back and watch, if that makes sense.

Re: Gossip Girl Mafia [Day 1]
That discredit up there where you "dislike" my Day 0 approach or whatever because it "made it harder to read other people's opinions". That looks quite fake to me.indiglo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 1:31 pmWhat is your exact reason for suspecting me? It's quite genuine. If that is your play style, obviously you like it. But I shall attempt to explain my thought process as best I can.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 1:33 pmThat discredit up there where you "dislike" my Day 0 approach or whatever because it "made it harder to read other people's opinions". When 1 player becomes the driving force of the thread, most people posting are responding to that player. What I have found helpful during your absence was seeing players (2 in particular were nutella and Mata) interact with each other. When you and nutella, for example, were having that back-and-forth, obviously nutella was getting frustrated with some of the things you were saying. It's hard for me to get a read off someone if they are genuinely frustrated. All I can see is their frustration and annoyance with the person they're going back-and-forth with.
Once I saw nutella interacting with other players (like Mata, for example), she was able to express herself differently, and I felt like I got a better look at her current playstyle, rather than her frustration with 3J. Plus, I was able to see Mata expressing herself in the discussion, which I also found helpful in forming an opinion on her.
You, obviously, are free to play how you see fit. I am free to form opinions about that playstyle when I am involved in the game as well.
