Rules and Guidelines

Spoiler: show
Character assignments

Character assignments are randomized to all alignments; character has nothing to do with whether someone is a civilian or a mafioso. Role play is encouraged but not required or requested. If you've seen the show and you have the desire, have a good time. If you don't feel like doing that, have a good time your own way. :nicenod:

Voting Rules

1.) Votes are changeable with no limitations.
2.) Voting is not obligatory. There is no requirement to vote in any phase whatsoever. There are participation standards though, which I'll cover separately.
3.) The player who has received the most votes at the deadline shall be lynched.
4.) In the event of a tied vote, the lynched player shall be decided among the tied names at random.
5.) A "no lynch" option will be included each day phase. This option must lead the tally with no ties to be enacted at any time.

Participation Standard

There is no rigid standard for participation; this will be at the host's discretion. All players are expected to make a sincere effort to contribute to the game thread consistently enough that their content can be fairly judged. Non-participation has an adverse effect upon the balance of the game. If I decide a player is not participating enough to facilitate this balance, that player will be replaced. If a replacement cannot be found, there might be a modkill. With this in mind I reiterate: it's very important that everyone try to participate. At least a couple posts per day/night cycle are a bare minimum.

Information rules:

1.) Roleclaiming is legal in all forms.
2.) Publicly revealing information gleaned from a role is legal in all forms.

Other:

1.) Respect all guidelines and rules found in The Syndicate's announcements section. Above all else, treat your fellow players with respect -- this is just a game.
2.) BTSC (behind the scenes chatter) is only permitted in host-designated locations.
3.) No editing or deleting of posts in the game thread.
4.) Dead players should post in the {Dead} Red if they are posting in the game thread. If you do post as a dead player, I insist that you ensure what you say cannot possibly affect the game in any way -- even the most innocuous off-topic things have that potential so please be careful.
5.) Non-Players should similarly post in {Non-Player} Blue if they are posting in the game thread.
6.) Living players wishing to discuss something off-topic should do so in {Off-Topic} Green.
7.) This is the Host Color. I don't actually care if you use it, just don't impersonate me.
8.) If you ever have any questions about the rules, roles, or setup, please ask me in private. You may ask publicly, but I will only answer publicly if I deem it appropriate.

Game Facilitator:

Epignosis

If you are feeling frustrated or otherwise bugged and want to talk about it, Epignosis is here to talk it over with you. He is fully prepared to listen, advise, or just shoot the shit if you have the desire. :)

Role Matrix

Image

We will be playing in the 10 player matrix. I will randomly determine which setup we play: A, B, C, 1, 2, or 3. The roles will all be derived from that setup. All roles not listed here will be vanilla, filling out the alignments as prescribed.

NOTE: all double-voters in all matrices do not function during any elimination phase (a phase in which one team can win after a lynch).

Sample Vanilla Civilian Role Card:
You are a vanilla civilian. You have no special abilities. Win the game by eliminating all threats to your faction.

Tragedy has struck at Paddy's Pub. One of the establishments very few regular customers will be a regular no more. JaggedJimmyJay lies in a pool of blood on the floor and in plain sight. Upon discovering the body, the gang wastes no time to erupt into a cacophony of argument over how this happened and what to do about it.

As usual though, everyone has a plan. I'll leave them to explain it to you.

Day 0 begins now, and it will last until 6:30 PM EST tomorrow (Monday). From that point, all cycles will be 48/24, ideally ending as close to 6:30 as I can manage. The thread is unlocked.

Note: if anyone struggles to see the yellow color on the silver skin, please let me know.

Hello everybody. I am not familiar with this show so I won't be role playing. And JaggedJimmyJay I cannot see that yellow at all on the pro-silver skin.

So, actually, you don't have to be familiar with the show. I'm not. I'm not at all. I'm just... I watched some videos on Youtube, okay?

something authentic about his excitement to be playing with us again. i feel like drawing a scum role after a long hiatus wouldn't be something that made MP especially happy.

that's a-ok, my dear, because i find your reason to why you were acting stiff suspicious in the first place. you didn't display the same resistance to be natural in 1-post mafia and that was post GG mislynch.

don't worry, i'm not a complete ass. i would never allow you to get lynched day1 2 games in a row. but it's fairplay from day 2 :p

Not yet, but I will amend when I do. I've played with them recently, so I could see a cabal thinking "Let's put a little pressure on Mongoose - she will get defensive and act weird and then we can vote her out early." I could also see them just desperate to grab onto any inkling of a ping on Day 0/Day 1 like we all are.

linki - Calibrating my playstyle to more suit this new world of mafia seems not only sensible but prudent. I'd expect anyone to do the same after playing one short game and literally one day period of another. My old style, which you would be unfamiliar with, seems a little antiquated for this new mafia landscape. It's more different than I could have ever realized.

p.s. mongoose. i love your style. do you and screw everyone who says it's "antiqued". you're unique and awesome and it's always fun to see how different people play mafia. don't let anyone pressure you into changing your style.

i'm not even taking this game seriously, i'm here to mess around and have fun with people i like.

I did not/am not playing Gossip Girl. From your perspective, why were you lynched there?

How was the syndicate’s mafia landscape changed from what you are familiar with, and what changes in your own strategy has that brought you to?

I assume that if I give any reads you’ll all just tell me that I look like some sort of bird, or that I have nothing to contribute, and that I should just give up trying.

Mongoose, don't feel like you have to change. As dunia said, everybody's style is different. I can't name people on day 0 who look bad or good after one post like Jay, dunia and Mac can do - no way. Be your normal wonderful self.
