Thank you! It's a bit shorter than I intended.
I think the AG interview went about as good as it could go.

A recap for those at home:
- Find out best friend is in a mildly abusive relationship
- Seats in AP US changed, distancing me from the girl I like
- Act irritated to the girl I like because I wouldn't look up from my book
- Girl wants me to come to her house but won't tell me her address

I don't think switching seats in an option. The teacher is kind of an ass and while he kinda likes me, he really hates the girl. I could possibly look that up but I don't want to be the person who looks up someone's address. Plus, these issues pale to the others.Mongoose wrote:Aww Cam. Can you work toward any of that? I don't wanna be all afterschool special on ya, but maybe even talking to a guidance counselor at school (do they still even have those?)

oh jeez this is imploding on my part.
"Scare Ya Straight" not having to do with sexuality but more like straight edge, walking the straight path.
It's jsut an expression when you need to have a serious talk to someone about getting **** done or stopping ****

:giggles: at all the possible meanings of "Come to Jesus" talk.
Goosey - you're from the south aren't you? I've heard that expression used before in the way you used it, just almost exclusively from people who grew up in the South.
Another set of phrases I used to hear a lot were variations of "Take me to Church" or "It's time to go to Church." But those were always in relation to music.

I hope Cam took all that the right way, I bungled it a bit!
But yes @ what Matt said -- an intervening talk is probably in order by some autonomous entity.

Re: Random~
I though you were in FL (as daisy and socky had seen you recently) didn't realize it was the panhandle though. Yes - that makes lots of sense now.
Like I said, I've heard the phrase before and I knew *exactly* what you meant.
I always also used to love it when the musician friends I'd be with were all like "We just went to Church" after a particular jammy jam from a band we were hearing.
I think you did well, but I also think that it might not only be regional, but generational as well. I'm guessing these are (from a linguistics POV dying phrases. Which is rather sad.)
Also - linguistically speaking, I'd love to research them. I'm betting money that they arise specifically from Southern African American communities.
and to Cam I think goosey is Right. You should have a talk with your friend about what you are seeing. It may not produce *any* results that you can see now. BUT from experience: I was once in an abusive relationship. I actually let myself get engaged to the guy. I didn't see it at first, but then, I slowly saw all the disconnect from my friends, I saw the cold reception from the family and I was still only half convinced. It took a particularly painful birthday in which my BFF Male Version - actually *got into a fist fight* with the abusive BF because of how he was treating me on *my* birthday - at *my* birthday party for me to *really* see it. Then - eyes wide open, I saw his behavior the next time I delt with him a half a pound of potato salad went against the wall, my cell phone went against the wall and I was really really HONESTLY skeered that I'd be the next thing to go against the wall. My BFF Girl Version didn't attend the party - but she was the MOST vocal "I hate this relationship" person - and also the first person I called to "get me out."
When I got home again - everyone was happy I was no longer with this person. I kept asking "If you knew it was bad? Why didn't you say anything?" they all felt it was a decision I had to come to on my own. When I was leaving the city I was in to *go* home again, everyone that the abusive guy concidered his friend said to me "We were only there for you. We never understood why you were with him." I wish more people WOULD have spoke up. It would have helped to give me strength to get out. There was really a point I KNEW it was bad, but I didn't know how to get out of it. So - for her sake Cam. Even if she initially rejects you and wants nothing to do with you for being honest. Talk to her seriously about what you see.
And if she does get into trouble, then she KNOWS she can call on you to help get her out.
