Bid For Your Life Mafia-idle thoughts for now

I'm considering creating a game in which all roles are vanilla except for the mafia kill, and every day period ends with a secret auction.

Each player gets a certain amount of a budget at the start of the game. It would be up to them... bid heavy early on for cool powers? Wait a bit? Does the mafia go big, or play the long game...

There would be events where people could earn extra money as well.

Thoughts? Does that sound possible?

Poor Logan's Minimalism game went kerpunk when we found the baddie on the first vote, but that's the only downside to 1 baddie games.

I def hope you develop. Would it have a movie theme? Makes me think of those post-apocalyptic road warrior films but also that newish film by Herschell Gordon Lewis.

I have played a full 30 player game like Minimalism, there was a Mafia Team (and an SK ), but they only had a kill. One Godfather, X number of vanilla henchmen. It is old school in that you can't logically deduce who is whom based on what happened at night, or roles with multiple votes, etc. If the baddies kill totally randomly, it is really hard to find them other than via things said in thread.

I'm thinking that the baddies could bid for role blocks, curses etc as well. The trick will be to get the dollar values right for the bidding... anyway this will be aways off but I'll work on it at some point!

Cool idea! There will be a similar mechanic in the Hobbit game, though probably not to the same degree you seem to be talking about. If you wanna talk about it sometime, feel free to PM me!
