Hello students! This is a reminder that you have 5 hours to send in pms, and not 7 like you normally would. Sorry for the inconvenience, but due to the fact that the night currently ends near 2 am for Lizzy, the new ending time will work better for us.

Effective immediately: Anne Whittle has been replaced by... Anne Whittle :D, and as such you cannot target her tonight or vote for her on Day 4.

Likewise.

So, what does everyone else think happened? A lynch switch? Entjen is unlynchable? There were hidden or double votes somewhere?

Another note on the Day 1 lynch. There was a tie for second since Agnes was unlynchable, so no one died. However this time, Krystyna was an easy second, and so she died.

Goodbye Anne Whittle! And welcome, Anne Whittle!

Jennet it's possible there was some vote manipulation, but it did not seem like Entjen was worried at the end of the lynch despite being the top vote-getter, so I think there might be an explanation for what happened that does not involve hidden votes.

What conclusions are you drawing with this statement? Just that vote manipulation could be at play? I agree it's a possibility, just not the likeliest possibility.

I do not think it is likely that Entjen is unlynchable. Based on what happened before, I think that would have resulted in no lynch. It seems more likely that it was either a switch or hidden votes. Hard to tell with so many roles with secrets.

Roughly 20 minutes later she was here to make these comments but not to address anything game related as the lynch is coming closer to close time.

Since she was online and posting, I asked her again to take a look at my post as it's hard for me to respond to her initial request w/o having any answers to the questions I have.

This feels to me like avoiding actually talking about what her opinions are. Like she just threw some names out to look like she was hunting, but didn't want to discuss anything too in depth. I tried to give her a chance to elaborate more, but she has not done that. She has avoided doing that.

There's where my vote is going and that is why.
You "gave me (barely any) time" to post of mine that you seemed to agree with? Or at least weren't bothered by? :P Makes sense. I'm at work. Using my phone. A dick joke or two before I clock in I have time for. I always have time for a dick joke. I dont have time to make worthwhile posts about the game. I'm on break at the moment - since you need my minute by minute schedule. ;) Don't be such a witch. :P
I am not sure if this is meant to be sarcastic or jokey, so I'm going to take the high road and presume that you intended to be light hearted and jokey.

I was using the information available to me in the thread. This is the first I'd heard of you being at work or anything of the sort. The first time you left it was to eat and you said you'd be back in roughly an hour. Without knowing that there was work and being near a computer avalibility issues, how am I supposed to take your words and your posts other than how they appear in the thread?

You asked for opinions but the two people who commented on your request didn't get a second blink. It was drawing into the last hour and a half of a pretty tight lynch. Given the info I had at the time, that read to me like you were fishing for someone to latch onto a case so you could justify voting it.

And no, I don't need a minute by minute breakdown of everyone's schedule every second of the day but posting something like "I'm at work,...." "I'm on my phone,....." does help to factor in when someone's got avalibility issues. That's why I posted that I was on my way to work when I voted. ;)
Everything I say is meant to be lighthearted and jokey :fiesta:

This is the time I get ready to leave for work everyday - gotta be there in an hour.

Thank you for reminding me of those, I'll reply when I get home tonight. If I'm still alive :ninja: I know I will be though, nobody would kill lovable old me :lorab:

I was looking for a conclusion that I think you've provided. I missed that post from Entjen, so that looks to me very much like she is just an unlynchable, or has the ability to shift the lynch. Whatever it was, I would agree that it was in her control, whether it was proactive or reflexive.

I would guess it would be random or the choice of whoever was switching the lynch.

Night 3: Jennet’s Gift

Image
After the recent events, everyone was seriously shaken. One morning while having breakfast in silence with her peers, Jennet’s attention was caught by the owls that flooded into the Great Hall as usual, but this time a particularly large barn owl, dropped a small parcel in front of her, almost spilling half a bowl of porridge in her lap. Taking the light package in her hands, she noticed a small note attached to it: ‘DO NOT OPEN THE PARCEL AT THE TABLE’. There was no signature. Jennet stared at the note. ‘What on earth could it be?’ She excused herself from the table and rushed to the dormitory. After checking if the coast was clear, she started to unwrap it. Something fluid and silvery grey went slithering to the floor, where it lay in gleaming folds. She grasped, picking the shining, silvery cloth off the floor. It was strange to the touch, like water woven into material. She threw the Cloak around her shoulders and turned to look into the mirror. Jennet gave a yell as it was only her head suspended in mid-air that looked back at her.

‘Blimey! This is amazing!’ She had to try it, now. She pulled it over her head and headed out right past Mrs Norris, who stopped for a second sensing an odd draft, but then cat-shrugged and continued patrolling down the corridor.

Jennet felt like her heart was going to jump out of her chest, the adrenaline filling every inch of her being as she got to the Entrance Hall and got out through the wooden doors and went straight to the Forbidden Forest. It was a gloomy morning, but the fresh air and the sense of freedom felt marvellous. She slid past Hagrid’s cabin and found herself at the edge of the Forest. Taking a deep breath, she let curiosity get the best of her, and went in. She didn’t have to walk for long, when suddenly she heard a rustle. It wasn’t the wind. She stopped. A cloaked figure appeared from behind the trunk of a large tree.

‘Are you lost, child?’ the hissing voice seemed to have frozen Jennet to the marrow of her bones, when she realised that her head was exposed and floating in the air.

‘You are just too easy. It almost takes away from the excitement. Alas! It saddens me I have to deal such stupid and pathetic creatures. No-one should mourn you! Actually, no-one will!’ he said again, laughing maniacally. He raised his wand:

AVADA KE…
EXPULSO

The hooded figure was thrown back, and before he could figure out what had just happened, he got up and was swollen by the darkness of the Forest.

Jennet turned around to see who save her.

‘Oh! It was you…’

Jennet Bierley has survived a night kill attempt from Voldemort and the Death Eaters.

It is now Day 4. You have 48 hours to lynch someone.

And this just in: Agnes Sampson was Harry Potter.

Congrats on not dying Jennet.

@ Rebecca, I do still have my initial questions, so yea. That would be grand. :) Also, I wanted to say that I appreciate the clarity in tone. Part of me hates to admit how much I do rely on meta game experience to help me play, but I know that I'd probably have had less issue with tone or even timing if I had that stock bit of info I carry in my head about each of the players that I play with.

Yay Jennet! At least we aren't losing folks at night. Except poor Harry, it appears :( Yet a part of me doesn't want to take that info at face value. I mean why are we just now being told? What would cause that to happen?

linki: Yeah it's possible Hermione is involved... but unless she checked Agnes night 1 and is somehow just now sharing the info, then it must have been a dead role check, which could be a different power, perhaps an unlisted one. Either way it's weird that we were told, that almost never happens in games, and I'm not sure whether I should trust it or not.

These are your last three posts, spread out over roughly 29hours. You didn't answer "a few posts" and you haven't said a thing about this.

You have tagged along on Jennet's skirt this whole time, even when she was making the opposite point as you. Which is what I have been asking you to explain. I'm not interested in your vote.

I believe it was Harry that was killed for you to dismiss it so quickly cricked my brow along with the general tone of your posts.

I also do not like how Barbara completely ignored Bridgets last post.

I do not think Entjen should be overlooked just bc she is under some sort of posting restriction. She was front and center for 2 lynches both times we lost important civ roles. I imagine they gave her the restrcition hoping she would be giiven a pass today. I do not like it. It feels all icky and covered with baddie hands.

My vote will go one of these people.

I didn't dismiss anything, Anne Whittle. I agree that it is likely we've lost Harry, but I'm wary of how the information was given to us. Why would the hosts reveal that? And do so on Day 4, when she died on Night 1? Don't you think that is worth looking into, at least a little bit? If you don't want to question it, fine, that's your choice. But I think it's worth looking into and I don't think it's suspicious to want to discern why we are being told now.

I think you might be wrong about Entjen, but either way she is insanified and so I think that discussion should wait until another day. By the way, the insanifier is a civvie role in this game.

I would like to hear from Barbara today as well. I didn't see how big the connection was between her and Jennet until Alizon just brought it up. Barbara has indeed been lurking in Jennet's shadow for most of the game. The only thing Barbara has done differently from Jennet was her vote for Margaret yesterday, a suspicion she never mentioned until she set it up exactly one post before she voted. When Alizon called Barbara out for not responding to Bridget's post, all Barbara said in response was "I stand by my vote".

Tonight is the quest for the resurrection stone, what if that item would let us bring Harry back? :ponder: I'm willing to accept that Agnes was Harry, mainly because I have seen this sort of setup before of waiting to release information. I understand some slight hesitation, but unless we can do something about it, we'll just have to accept it for now.

As for Barbara, she never struck me as bad, but I've paid little attention to her. I'll give her a posts a lookover today.

Lovely theories in regards to Agnes' reveal, but before things might get out of hand, I'd like to take this moment to tell you that you should take it as the hosts' gift to you all. Together we can build a peaceful and better world; a world dominated by balance, fairness and overall respect for universal fundamental ethical principles. :noble:

Resurrection Stone Event Signups

Image

Due to the nature of this event, I am asking any and all willing participants to please pm me (NOT Lizzy and me) with the day/time most convenient for them this weekend. The event may need to be rescheduled if I am not unexpectedly busy.

The event itself is a game that will be played in real time (or at least as close as possible) and is very similar to hot potato. A random player will be given the snitch containing the resurrection stone, and that player has the option to either try and open it, or to pass it to another player who then has the same options. The snitch will only open after a certain number of passes (that is unknown to the players), and if a player attempts to open it before that number is reached, they are out of the game. The winner is the first person to attempt to open it after the number of turns has been reached.

Thank you Entjen. Clearly Luna is up to no good again.

I think there is a chance that she went with Entjen because it was easy and people were talking about her, and today she wanted to avoid the lynch and lazily threw her vote away. People wanting to avoid lynchtrains are generally not civ.
I don't think going after the random, isolated votes are the way to go. It seems that there are multiple roles with the ability to change or effect votes. Participation would tell us a bit more I believe.

I think, I think! Now this is my chance, but I would like to send your bags. (C) on the battlefield. Not a bad idea, as well as roads, entering student of Slytherin. Sukamisuh, I think that this category is not necessary.

I can't really say anything more about Jennet. Her play has struck me as civ and in this game, trust is hard to come by. But, the irony is that I apparently misunderstood some of her points and leapt to a conclusion that she had not made, so... XD yeah, I'm not sure what to say except that I'm a bit of a spaz...

I don't really see baddies making that sort of mistake, as they tend to be more careful in their play. Then again, that very well could have been a slip...

Where is everyone? Lots of people haven't even checked in today. 9 witches have 10 or fewer posts: Alice Nutter, Alizon, Brita, Karin, Margaret P, Sarah Good, Kael, Anne Whittle, and Merga. There's likely at least one baddie in that group, lying low and blending in. I'm giving Alizon and Anne W a pass for now, as they were recently replaced and seem to be participating. Anna Koldings has 14 posts, and said she would be more active today, but that has not happened yet.

Of the higher posting players, I am getting more civ vibes than baddie ones. Rebecca however stands out to me for the way she acted at the end of the last lynch and into this one. She came through yesterday with some suspicions and pointedly asked for thoughts. When thoughts were given, and she was asked in return to respond or said she would respond, she twice used the excuse of having to go to work instead of ever getting around to answering those things. I've been trying to give her more time so she couldn't use the ol "Don't rush me, I didn't realize I was being timed" excuse, but she has not shown up yet today and I have to bring it up eventually. Here's where she said she would reply to some stuff:
Rebecca Nurse wrote:Everything I say is meant to be lighthearted and jokey :fiesta:

This is the time I get ready to leave for work everyday - gotta be there in an hour.

Thank you for reminding me of those, I'll reply when I get home tonight. If I'm still alive :ninja: I know I will be though, nobody would kill lovable old me :lorab:

Well she survived the night but she has not made another post since this one, not even to make a dick joke. :P But to be honest, she is not the only person who is missing. Lots of players aren't talking at the moment, and silence is not going to help us get on the right track to nabbing a baddie.

Are you sure you haven't gotten your witches crossed? Some of your thoughts sound like they refer to me, I.i. the being timed comment?

No I meant Rebecca but I do think I mixed up one of her posts with yours. This was the post of hers I was thinking of:

Katharina Henot wrote:

It was in response to Katharina. I agree that, at the time, Katharina hadn't given Rebecca much time to respond. But that was over 48 hours ago and there still hasn't been anything from her. You'd think that if it was just work that kept Rebecca from responding at the time, that we would have heard from her by now.
