Tbh I think the setup worked well in part because of the playerlist, you guys did a great job with the mechanics and turning them to your advantage. On both alignments.

It was a fun game, thanks for it Nannynooker. I was glad to be able to approach it from a distance for the sake of my own rest. It made it easier to give the greatest possible effort for one crucial day.

Re: Assassin's Creed Mafia (OVER!)
LC had me tricked the entire game. The rest of the mafia team covered well and got some lucky switches, but LC clearly carried.
Hopefully this meta change entices Sloonei to not lynch me next time.
I will say — not as a complaint — there were some mechanical foibles that complicated this. I think that they made the gameplay more enjoyable, but perhaps not as straightforward. Obviously no setup is clear from those and it’s on me to ask questions about my role if something’s unclear.
Overall, great simple design with a unique mechanic and great play from everyone who didn’t lynch me. I continue my streak of making it to endgame as town and then losing.
I’m in a realms game right now and the claims are flying everywhere. Frankly I like it less for games like that — bigger, more complex. The game is in progress so I won’t speak on it, but in a lot of ways it creates a more mechanical structure without as much room for the kind of work I’ve come to see as standard around here.
Last thing: I seriously almost did shoot LC. I had the PM written out, let it sit over a class, and came back and changed it. Oops.

I don’t envy Sloonei’s choice here, and under the same circumstances I could have gone the same way.
I’m proud nonetheless of what we avatars were able to accomplish in 72 hours with so little clarity on the game before that.
I never truly read the thread even once. Down with ketchup.

Re: Assassin's Creed Mafia (OVER!)
"No claims" works (or perhaps only used to work) better when the player base is all part of an insular community that is familiar and comfortable with the rule. It was the norm when I first arrived here, and I hardly recall there being any problems with it. People just knew how to avoid those gray areas. But as we've expanded and new styles have come in, it's clear that most folks don't play that way and often don't want to play that way. The gray area becomes a lot more gray and people wander into it without even realizing. That's nobody's fault and it shouldn't be received as a criticism of anyone anywhere. "No claims" does feel like a bit of a relic these days, but I still like the environment it offers.NANOOKTHEGREATANDFEARSOME wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 6:16 pm Idk, I think that “no claims but really it’s only no explicit claims” is pretty town sided in an open or semi-open setup where roles are publicly available. But stricter “no claims whatsoever” enforcement leads to more modkills, which isn’t particularly fun for anyone tbh.
So idk, mixed feelings but I usually prefer claims.
But it's obviously much harder to enforce, and I think the best balance between the two is to allow roleclaiming, but to build in mechanics that deter people from doing it en masse. I'm hoping to explore those options in my next game.

Everything I did early game was awful, when I tried to pretend to do Civvish things it only got me more suspicion. Only when I shut up and stopped trying did opinions on me turn around, culminating in the ultimate "I don't care anymore" gambit.

As you were painstakingly trying to determine who had the better non scum claims at lylo it dawned on me that in that scenario looking for who is not the scum will benefit the scum as they have intentionally been playing to both look not scum and also to make a reducing number of players look scum. Should I find myself in those shoes again I will be lynching the player who simply looks least like a townie, not most like the scum. I think Jay summed it up well earlier when he basically reduced the scum to their sum parts on the basis of who was actually trying to game solve.
I don't envy the situation you were in but I learned that much from it so thanks.

Yeah, if I'd have cast my Day 4 vote at the end of Day 3, we'd have won this game. I should have stuck with that feeling, I guess. But even as this phase wore on I felt like LC's answers resonated more truthfully with me. GOOD LORD though I almost ruined everything when I fake-claimed to have checked ts account for Assassin. I really checked funnygurl - which led to a successful Speedchuck kill, so I couldn't tell you that or it would have easily looked bad.
So I looked at ts account's role - Researcher - and it seemed safe to say he wasn't an Assassin. Then after I posted, I got a bad feeling, and looked up the character. Assassin. I went immediately into the chat and said "Sorry guys, I fucked up". Came back to the thread for Tony's "FALSE!"
The ironic thing was that I was right about ts account not being an Assassin for official game purposes.

These were the two moments that influenced my decision the most:
Long Con's explanation fits perfectly with his behavior and retroactively disarms me a bit. I felt a little bad for having made him feel that way.

Pay it no mind. In the end you made a substantive push to case LC, and that's all one can ask of you. You also fought long and hard the previous day phase to earn some credit then -- it didn't quite hold up, but them's the breaks.TonyStarkPrime wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 7:08 pm JJJ said something in spec chat about the second thing. I want to say that I did not target MacDougall with my power.
My team volunteered me to target Mac with the kill, and I didn't remember they did that.
Hence I was goofy about that business.
