Mafia Championship: Season 6

As many of you will remember, earlier this year the sixth annual Mafia Championship began thanks to our friends at Mafia Universe. The Syndicate has assembled a rich tradition in this tournament over the last few years:

2015 - Turnip Head nearly survived as the sole remaining mafia member in his qualifier, and only lost to the eventual tournament winner.
2016 - Golden cruised into the finals with his signature civilian play, and helped his team to a win in that game.
2017 - Epignosis challenged the base assumptions over there of what makes a player capable, and drew a kill on Night 2 from a terrified mafia team.
2018 - M Plus 7 set a new standard for the entire Internet for effort, compiling around 6,500 posts across three civilian games and finishing as a finalist.

Every year we've shown that our site boasts some of the most skilled Mafia players around, and that was doubly true this time around.

We sent [mention]nutella[/mention] as our representative, and [mention]MacDougall[/mention] was a substitute who ended up getting a spot.

nutella personally impressed a jury of last year's finalists enough that they sent her forward from her qualifier game into the wild card round. In both games she was the excellent, formidable civilian that we've all seen her be so many times now. Both of her opposing Mafia teams had to specifically target her for elimination, because she was a threat to them that they could not control. She was a favorite of many spectators on Discord.

MacDougall also played a strong qualifier and was selected by his peers in the game to play in the wild card round (he and nutella played together). He outworked the other civilians in that game to such an extent that he was again chosen to advance -- this time to the finals. He did it again there. The game ended earlier this week, and tonight the voting concluded for the individual winner of the tournament. Our very own MacDougall was voted as the second best player in the entire tournament (which featured representatives of over 200 websites). Moreover, he was the highest-ranked civilian in the tournament.

Needless to say nutella and Mac kicked ass over there. Our reputation already preceded us. Now it can't be ignored. People know about The Syndicate.

Hey all, it doesn't feel like it's been very long since Season 6 ended, but it's about time to start thinking about who we want to send as our representative (and alternate) for Season 7!! I think MU is going to contact us soon with an official invitation but just putting this out there so we can start thinking about who we want to nominate. Anyone particularly feeling up to playing in the championship? It's extremely fun and I made a lot of new friends

So....we never really made a decision here. It's my understanding that our rep is Jay and our backup is Sloonei because seemingly nobody else was all that interested.

Tony's playing for HCRealms so if nobody else is interested, I'm interested.

I've played twice. MU champs is a hell of an experience. It's an experience I'd always choose to give to another player who wants to play instead of reliving it for a third time.

IMO a new player getting to experience champs > somebody else excited to play in champs > me playing in champs > somebody else playing in champs because they feel we have an obligation to send somebody but they're actually dreading the time commitment.

It gets lifted 2 hours before EOD at which point you can post as much as you want
