I suppose I can switch to Lavender even if my gut wants 1612 gone, hehe. 15 minutes.

Good cop/bad cop. If they assumed Lav was getting lynched today, and then have 1612 hard defending and Michelle hard distancing. I mean, this is a lot of assumptions, but I don't think it's out of the question at all

Re: The Lion King [Day 3]
No, see, I disagree with that so bolded/underlined sentiment vehemently, and in fact I couldn't disagree more, but that's what makes playing so much fun -- different perspectives.Alison wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 6:45 pmI'm not allergic to emotion. In an ideal world mafia would be played solely without emotion, but we do not live in an ideal world, and it is even more irrational to pretend emotion doesn't exist and to not use it to help you get better reads. I often use emotion to read people even if I don't have much myself. I am just saying that it is incorrect to express this particular kind of emotion regardless of alignment, and that it negatively affects town members.

Push jeraldo, push cobbler, shoot the towncore. Maybe push Urist to set him up for a fall in FX. It's what I'd do.Dyslexicon wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 6:42 pmA lot of the players are not pushable. Anyone can express any emotion they want, and they should, so long as they are trying to be respectful to their fellow players. 1612 has been a joy to play with, he seems like a good person regardless of his alignment.

Yeah, I guess that's what I'd do as well. But I'm me. =p I don't know, I was just considering it. We still have game to play and time to solve. We'll get a flip now, and hopefully it's red so we can work off of it

Re: The Lion King [Day 3]
Yeah I get it Alison, I don't think gameplay where you have to town read people who guilt trip is good gameplay. I've seen it happen and it makes a poor ending for the game. Leaves a really bad taste not just for myself when I am mafia but for others who are town and tricked. But sometimes reading the emotion gets you some reads which is why I have such strong opinions on Lavender.

Regardless of what happens, efforts have been poured into this game, and I appreciate them. I think we've at least collectively tried to give ourselves a decent shot at maximizing win chances.

Re: The Lion King [Day 3]
Maybe I should post that in the "most unpopular opinions about mafia" thread on MU. In any case, I acknowledge it's not how most people like to play and I don't seek to deny them their fun - which is why I don't try to excise the emotion from the game. I prefer to use it to my advantage instead. I am just pointing out that is the world in which I'd enjoy mafia the most.

This is some pretty elaborate theater if it's 1612/Lavender/Michelle.

Despite my current level of confidence, I still think there's a decent enough chance 1612 and/or Lavender are town. Let's try to keep in mind that anything is possible and do our best to figure everything out. I think we've done a good job of that. Let's power through. I think we can still win no matter what!

I'm giving mp7 the benefit of the doubt today and voting 1612... if 1612 does flip town then a mp7/lav universe seems probable.
Like i know people are saying "omg she's so solvy" but the reality is that her reads and vote aren't actually changing so it could all easily be surface-level jibberjabber

Re: The Lion King [Night 3]

History has a funny way of repeating itself...
Mufasa decided it was time to hunt rather than be hunted. He set off to Elephant Graveyard in search for Scar. "Scar!" shouted Mufasa, "I know you're here!" His voice echoed, followed by the sound of snickering hyenas. "It's over! Your time ends now!"
"Over?" Came the reply. "I'm the King and I'll be going nowhere!" Scar roared, jumping towards Mufasa from the shadows. They tumbled, Mufasa's anger visible as the light of day.
"Temper, temper," Scar murmured, his voice dangerously calm, as his hyenas all closed in on Mufasa, separating the lions from each other. "Why don't you stay here and watch the show, hmmmm, brother? Watch as I get rid of your family, one by one. The family you exiled me from!"
"No, little brother, please, don't. You're not a murderer!" Mufasa pleaded.
"And how can you be so sure that I'm not, Mufasa?" Scar gave him a lazy grin. "Your time as King is over, it's time for me to take back what was supposed to be mine all along..."
Scar turned his back and started to walk away while his hyenas all closed in on Mufasa, hungry as ever.
"I'd love to stay and chat some more, big brother, but I have a kingdom to rule..."
Lavender has been banished.
Spoiler: show

This filp probably implicates Michelle the most. I'll look at teams involving Michelle during this night phase, before I die. I think she's probably the best execute tomorrow.

Re: The Lion King [Night 3]
If Lavender was town, I'd expect mafia to be pretty comfy during the EOD. So I think this looks good for 1612 actually - he doesn't even have to post during EOD, he could easily have rested on his laurels, come in the next day and collected his towncred for being right about Lavender the next day. The frantic posting from him doesn't look like mafia watching a town get hammered before their eyes. It could be self-pres, but even so, the frustration when it became clear we were going to execute Lavender looks good.
Players who this implicates: speed, ted, Urist. All of them had a laidback attitude throughout the previous day, although replacements might have affected this (it really was a bad time to have replacements, honestly).

Re: The Lion King [Night 3]
Let's operate on the assumption that Michelle is scum.
If my point about 1612's emotion during EoD is true, that would indicate that he is not her mafia buddy.
I think MP7 and Dizzy are scum, and the game is narrow enough that I don't have the space to pursue tinfoil reads. So I will simply have to bet the game on the fact that they are town. Therefore, the POE pool is reduced to [speedraldo, cobblertenoid, Urist].
Of these, I am most confident in speedraldo being scum. Their vote on 1612 looks fishy if we walk into it with the idea that 1612 is town and Michelle is scum - it could be a chainsaw defense there. Furthermore, leaving a vote on 1612 near EOD and disappearing from the thread after being explicitly told to consolidate is very bad. It looks like speedraldo didn't want to vote his scum buddy (at the time Michelle was a very possible execute) but also didn't want to get caught on the Lavender wagon.
That leaves cobblertenoid or Urist as the last possible member of the scum team.
