Breaking Bad
So is this the best show on television right now or what?
I absolutely cannot wait for the final eight episodes!!! At the same time though, I can't believe that's all we have left. I am sure Vince Gilligan will deliver to high expectations though.

It really is awesome, and stays awesome throughout which is rare. I'm not sure I'd give it the number one slot but definitely top 5.
We should do one of those best show ever countdowns like we used to do on LP. Maybe I'll start one up? MP, you ok with that?

And I'm not sure I'd give it number 1 overall in my all-time favorites, but it's in my top 5 as well. It's definitely in my number 1 slot of any shows currently on right now though.

Seriously, watch the whole series. It's absolute golden television. I can't wait for the final season in August.Epignosis wrote:Just watched the first two episodes.

I thought it was going to be hardcore and serious. It's brilliant black comedy. Does it stay this way?MovingPictures07 wrote:Seriously, watch the whole series. It's absolute golden television. I can't wait for the final season in August.Epignosis wrote:Just watched the first two episodes.

I'll refrain from spoilers, but I just have to say: Wow. I cannot believe this last episode and that there are only two more left.

Re: Breaking Bad
jesus fucking christ, even after five seasons of steadily increasing intensity, it's still shocking how much emotional stress this show can pack into 45 minutes

Re: Breaking Bad
Did you think the ending/finale was too easy? I mean the whole series we get these moments out of left field, but then the finale wrapped up rather predictably (in great contrast to the penultimate episode).

Re: Breaking Bad
You could think about it that way, but I disagree. There was no better way to end it IMO. The big collapse came in Ozymandias; the finale wasn't designed to be this huge twist out of left field, I think, and I personally believe it's better that way.

Re: Breaking Bad
You guys, Terry Gross interviewed the writers/producers of Breaking Bad on Fresh Air today. It was so good. I listened to it at noon and then I listened to it again at 7. Please give it a shot. It's probably the only time someone has said "Bye B****es" on NPR. Ha.

I was, yes, especially at first, but it was necessary to drive the story and to give Walt what he really deserved, starting the beginning of the collapse of his family -- it needed to happen. But it was still upsetting.Mongoose wrote:That's fair. Were you upset about Hank?

We just finished the season.
1. This was one of the greatest TV programs of all time.
2. This had one of the most unsatisfying final episodes of all time.

Surprising you think that about the finale though. Why? I personally loved it.

I suppose I'm being harsh. If anything, the finale was decidedly honest and believable. And perhaps appropriate.MovingPictures07 wrote:It is amazing, isn't it?Epignosis wrote:We just finished the season.

Re: Breaking Bad
I can relate entirely. I was really, really sad when it ended. I rewatched the second half of Season 5 with Annie since she didn't watch it live -- and it was even better, somehow. Made me even more sad though. I still am.Epignosis wrote:I suppose I'm being harsh. If anything, the finale was decidedly honest and believable. I'm going to rewatch the entire series at some point, but I'll probably wait a month or two.

For sure. I always liked Bryan Cranston as an actor, but after this show I have a completely different level of respect for him. And that's just the protagonist, let alone the other actors and all of the writers.Epignosis wrote:You know you're hot stuff when Sir Anthony Hopkins writes you a letter singing your praises.
The ending was perfect, really, even though it does make me sad. A huge contrast to the LOST ending, IMO.
