Why did you choose your username?
What is your favorite flower is it is not a daisy?
What is something that most people would be surprised to know about you?
If you could have any animal in the world as a pet what would it be?
What is a good book you would recommend for me to read?

Re: Interrogation Room
When I was in high school I collected a variety of random nicknames. When I was choosing a screen name to use for online, I realized that for some reason they were all very masculine nicknames and would give the wrong impression. This was purely coincidental, I am not particularly masculine, even if I am not super girly either, lol. Anyway, my friends and I had read On The Bus about the Merry Pranksters and though my friends had transferred the nickname Captain Flag (Kesey's) onto me, I chose a lesser known Prankster name to use as a screen name, Spacedaisy. And I am huge fan of Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide series, so slapped 42 on the end. Which I don't use here for whatever reason. Anyway, that is the story of my screenname.fingersplints wrote:Why did you choose your username?

My favorite flower is actually Lilac. I like daisies well enough too, but I would not say they are my favorite.
This is a hard question. I just asked my sister (Captain Bunny Killer) what she thought people might find surprising about me and she said, "I think you're surprising in general because you're just so freaking random." Some people might be surprised to learn I went to school for and worked in youth ministry up until I moved here from Florida. Others might be surprised to learn that I moved to Florida without having a job or even knowing where I was going to live when I got there. Some people would be surprised to learn I used to practice accents when I was using the toilet as a kid, maybe even up through high school. And sadly, I'm still no good at them. Maybe some would be surprised to learn that I love languages and have taken three years of French, one of biblical Hebrew, one of Koine Greek, and used Rosetta Stone (with help from my Filipino friends in Orlando) to learn some Tagalog. Or it might be surprising,y to learn I have made people cry, usually by saying what needed to be said. So... I don't really know what the best answer to this is, lol.
I am kind of boring, and pets require work. Exotic pets even more so.i would probably go with a chinchilla (because they are adorable) or rabbit, because I love rabbits.
Just one book?!? I will list a few because I simply cannot choose just one book. Obviously any of the Hitchhiker's Guide, because they are the funniest things ever written IMO. I am a huge C.S. Lewis fan, and if I was going to choose one fiction and two non-fiction (because I can't choose just one). Fiction: The Great Divorce, Non-fiction: either A Grief Observed or The Weight of Glory. I also love love love Agatha Christie murder mysteries, and I would recommend any of them, but my first one ever was The Seven Dials and I was hooked. I mentioned On the Bus earlier, which is a humorous look at the Pranksters. And for the Beatles fan, I really recommend reading The Longest Cocktail Party which is a really freaking funny book about working in the 3 Saville Row Apple offices. I also enjoy Malcolm Gladwell's stuff, I found them intriguing and his style of writing is engaging. Lastly, would list Our Mutual Friend as one of my very favorite books. I'll try to stop there...

haha. I didn't realize how tough this question was when I asked it of spacedaisy! Ummmm... I think I am one of the least surprising individuals out there. I am a creature of habit. :P and pretty OCDMongoose wrote:what is something that people are often surprised to learn about you?

I love animals, but HATE most birds. (I was going to say all, but I think penguins are cute.) A lot of people here know this about me.
I have awful balance. My friends have teased me that its because I am tall but have really small feet.
I don't like to make left turns when I drive. And I have a horrible sense of direction.
I hate to eat alone and often will forget to if I am left alone all day.
I can't stand amusement parks. I almost fell off a roller coaster when I was little and I have been scared of rides since.
Hmmm I'm sure I can think of more random things to tell you, but I'm not sure I am actually answering the question anymore and I want to watch some hockey so that's it for now.
This summer. Hopefully the date will be set this week :Pnutella wrote:when are you getting maaaarrrriieeddd

Simon is my favorite. He likes video games, embarrasses people frequently, is very cheap to feed, is literate, and goes to sleep to the Bioshock Infinite soundtrack.
The other two have time to catch up to all that. Ephraim will come close and may surpass Simon as my favorite.

This is my present list of gear:
Seagull Artist Mosaic QII
Fender DG 10/12 (12-string acoustic)
1956 Sears Silvertone
Fender American Stratocaster (with Texas Special pickups)
Ibanez Artcore (AS83)
Yamaha SA-2100
Squier Strat
Ibanez GSR 200 Bass
Hondo Banjo
Fender FM-52E Mandolin
Peavey 212 Stereo Chorus Amp
Orange Crush 12L (Amp)
Line 6 POD XT LIVE (Processor)
Yamaha DGX-205 (Keyboard)
dbx 266XL Compressor / Gate
Shure SM58 (Mic)
MXL 880 (Mic)
++++
The gold items are guitars. So seven. I learned on the Silvertone, which belonged to my dad. The Yamaha 2100 (a Gibson ES-335 replication) belonged to my late grandpa.
My favorite guitar is the one I first bought. I got $650 in gift money for graduating high school, and spent it all to the dime on a white 1999 Fender American Stratocaster with Texas Special pickups.
I equally enjoy my Seagull acoustic. I had gone to the music store with the intention of purchasing a Martin (I was learning how to play "Clap"
), but I tried out the Seagull because I was intrigued by its shape and headstock. I was impressed, and the electronics are stellar. I ended up getting a big discount too, because the body of the guitar had some blemishes.

There are two. I have wanted to be able to play the violin, but I cannot seem to get the hang of the right hand technique. I play the mandolin, and the tuning is the same (so I know where all the notes and scales are), but I cannot master the bow. I can pizzicato the hell out of one though.Hedgeowl wrote:What instrument do you not play but wish you did?

I cannot play any instrument that requires breathing, but I've always loved the sound of a clarinet, and a few times I even said I would buy one and force myself to learn. Hasn't happened yet.
Could be the one starting Sunday, who knows? We're going to Florida to visit family and then we'll be off to hang out with Mongoose.Hedgeowl wrote:Dream family vacation?
I want to take Eloh on a transatlantic cruise, just the two of us. We love cruises and are not disappointed. If you're not having fun doing one thing, there's twelve different other things to do, and failing all of that, you can put Dionysus to shame.Hedgeowl wrote:Dream vacation without the kids?
Simon doesn't recall it of course, but he went on a cruise when he was three weeks old. My mother-in-law planned the cruise before we knew we were going to have a baby. Initially, I thought it was going to be a bummer of a trip, because we would be cooped up in the cabin for most of our time there, but I got a book from the ship's library and read during that time (Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake, and still enjoyed myself.
There was nothing planned about anything with our kids. The only thing that was really thought out was us having our youngest at home with me catching.Hedgeowl wrote:Was it your plan to name your children with names that spell SEA?
If you're curious, I picked all three names (both first and middle). Simon Ezekiel, Abigail Sophia, and Ephraim Malachi. I like names that sound like they would belong to a sorcerer out of the Bible.
I love biblical literature and the study of typology. I am also fascinated by anachronistic interpretations of the Bible.Hedgeowl wrote:A favorite book?
Outside of that, my favorite books are A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving and The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky.
