I'm going to vote insertnamehere being that he is the only other player with a vote, for self-preservation.
But you all are wasting your time.

Re: Occultism Mafia - Night 5
Night 5
It was quiet on a Satur(n)day. Too quiet.
Shaken by the sudden appearance and disappearance of demons, the death of the mafia, and the knowledge that they were now hunting an untraceable killer who or may not have amazing powers, the group was cautious.
“This isn’t what I signed up for,” said MetalMarsh.
“Oh yeah,” said insertnamehere. “What did you sign up for? How about a nice lynching?”
“No, I-” Metal Marsh protested, but it was too late. The others set upon him like jackals, and before he could say “Bob’s your uncle” he was no more.
Nope, just kidding. MetalMarsh is fine. No one has been lynched.
You have 24 hours to send in PMs.

Re: Occultism Mafia - Night 5
OK, I see three ways that MetalMarsh survived that lynch.
1. The lynch was stopped by Theoprastus Paracelsus.
2. MM won something, or was given something by someone.
3. MM is Abramelin, and is immune to his first lynch?
I probably won't be voting for MM tomorrow.

Yeah, of course I would miss another vote. I mean, I've only missed 6 of my last 8 possible votes on this site, so clearly I shouldn't bother voting ever. Or playing for that matter.

6 out of 8 because it carries over from The Hobbit.Dom wrote:Hm.birdwithteeth11 wrote:Yeah, of course I would miss another vote. I mean, I've only missed 6 of my last 8 possible votes on this site, so clearly I shouldn't bother voting ever. Or playing for that matter.
Sorry, I probably shouldn't have said that. I hate missing a vote, especially when I actually have a little extra time. But the fact that I've missed so many now makes me really mad at myself. And honestly makes me feel like it's not even worth playing if I'm not going to participate in the most basic, essential mafia task.
I'll feel better and get over it soon. Right now it just feels like I'm venting, and that helps a lot.

Re: Occultism Mafia - Day 6
NATURAL MAGIC

Natural magic is a broad category of magical effects produced from simple combination of elements of the natural world. Unlike ritual or ceremonial magic, where the actions and will of the operator produce the effect, natural magic is self-working. A classic example is the way that iron disrupts the connection between the material and etheric planes.
The basic principle of natural magic is sympathy, the notion that like affects like. In voodoo, which contrary to popular opinion is largely drawn from European witchcraft, the voodoo doll is made by collecting hair or nails from the victim, binding them up into a facsimile of him, the theory being that action taken upon the doll will be transferred to the victim through sympathetic magic.
Sympathetic magic was used extensively in rainmaking, and the curing of diseases. Food can cure the body's ailments through the principles of sympathy. Since the heart is believed to be characterized by courage, it was believed that eating the heart would grant courage to the eater. The eating of animal genitalia was believed to cure impotence. And so on, and so on. The list of plants, stones, and animals that can produce magical effects is enormous.

I feel silly but i do not get the allusion that people are making. There is a civvie role that can live, there is also an Indy killer that gets more powerful every day or some suck. How do you know it is one, but not the other?
I am not voting for INH, I believe him to be civ with a certainty.
Who else do y'all suspect?

My top suspect would be BWT, he's been just as blendy as I've been accused of being.
There is this post.
And thisbirdwithteeth11 wrote:Alright, so we have a little bit of time before the vote ends. I don't know where I stand on a MM vote at this point, mostly because the only case I see for him is that "he's blendy". Is that the greatest extent of it or am I missing something else?

Of course I'm probably coming off as blendy. :P Speed games are usually terrible with my schedule, which is why I don't play them much anymore. I often don't have the time or energy to post nearly as much as I like.
I'll think about what you said. I'm not really committed to voting for any one person in particular yet, and I have a bit more time before I have to come to a decision.
Then there is also SVS.
SVS, here you accuse me of defending myself more than actually offering thoughts on my own suspicions. Your thoughts are a little conflicting though.S~V~S wrote:I don't think he's blendy, I think YOU'RE blendy
You both came in at the same time, he has 9 or 10 more posts than you. He talks, but does not say much. More of his posts are addressing mentions of him than discussing suspicions. He got Bloopers eye, and then tried to push off his vote for Nutella as a cred thing, when it really had no bearing on a LMS role.
Here you are not happy that I didn't understand what INH was talking about and questioned him about it. This I still don't like. You said a similar thing to me when I questioned you because I didn't understand what you were saying. Please tell me, why should I assume I know what someone is talking about when I really don't? That ideology just seems to have a little bit of malice to me.S~V~S wrote:What I think INH meant, and I thought it was fairly obvious, was that Abremelin would PLAY the game that way, not that he was ALIGNED that way by the host. The host clearly aligned him as Indy/secret role. But playing the game as a civ would be the best viable way IMO, especially if the theory that Abremelin could not kill until the Mafia was gone is the correct one. It is also possible he chose not to kill to lull the civs and to hide a bit better.
I asked people to reread Blooper to see if they could come up with a reason someone might kill her; have you? Do you have any ideas on who might have wanted to kill her?
Feel free to offer some input Dom and MP. You two seem lost, so maybe we can get this ship turned around?

Did you look at the reason why I admitted to being blendy? I think it's a legitimate reason. Granted, I'm doing my best to try a bit harder. But I hate that it has to come with my head possibly being on the chopping block today.
If you have some reason for looking at me other than me being "blendy" which I'm honestly starting to get tired of, given I get called "blendy" several times in almost every game of mafia I play, then I will gladly listen and offer explanations. But if I get lynched again because I came off as "blendy", I'm going to call BS.

Re: Occultism Mafia - Day 6
It makes more sense to me than you, but i could be missing an unknown too.birdwithteeth11 wrote:I'm holding onto my vote in case I need to save myself. If I don't need to do that, I might go for Hedgeowl. I don't like the vote for Vomps. I think he's still genuinely interested in the game, and that alone is enough to make me think he wouldn't self-insanify.

Re: Occultism Mafia - Day 5
I wish I had noticed this before I voted. Might have made me reconsider. What's done is done unfortunately. Depends on how the host handles a tie I guess.Metalmarsh89 wrote:This is the only sane time vomps has mentioned INH, and it doesn't make sense.Vompatti wrote:I'm voting MM like I did last time, but I'm also keeping an eye on INH for reasons not stated in this post.
Maybe there won't be a lynch and we'll get a freebie.
Link: MM, I voted alongside him for self-preservation. I wasn't interested in potentially setting myself up in a 4-way tie for this lynch.
