Lol, so true Bea. He did a great job lying about it though. And I tried repeatedly to get him to open it instead of me. He kept insisting I should open it, Lol. And it was so very Alex. He couldn't wait for really elaborate plans. He just rushed in the door and did it immediately.

Oh I live in Tallahassee now. It's weird. I drove all around Capital Circle last night and accidentally ended up in Georgia. I pulled over to a random gas station and asked a police officer: "Excuse me, Officer? Can you corroborate that I'm in Georgia?"

Then I got back in my car and MattMatt looked up directions. Last time I'm ever spontaneous, I tell you what.

My stepmother is only 10years older than I, and she has insinuated her kids so much into my Dads life. She had a hissy fit that my brother asked for some jewelry that had belonged to our grandfather, she felt that her son, who likes jewelry, would have gotten them. WTF?

Out of curiousity, how long have they been a part of the family? keys recently had a similar issue with his aunt and cousins taking everything of his grandparents, so I know he'd feel you and your brothers pain. I hate greediness. Especially in a situation like this because it should be about wanting a memento to remember by not about wanting it for the monetary value.
My siblings and cousins were probably mad at me when my grandmother died I got her favorite jewelry and I am one of the youngest, but I also took care of her.

Tbh your brother shouldn't have even felt the need to ask for something that belongs "in family". If the step-brother had taken care of your Grandfather or was his bestest friend - then maybe, otherwise they should butt their greedy noses out of business that does not apply to them.

I know the cross necklace my Grandmother had set aside for me is my most precious possession I own - its not worth crap but the sentimental value is astronomical.

My Dad is still alive, he never wears the stuff, so Joe asked for it. Perhaps it was the way he asked for it, "So it will stay in the family", with "that" tone. My brother could never play Mafia, he can't sugarcoat things, and has never had any desire to do so.

Diane has her good points, and one of them is that she is an awesome mother, she loves her kids with a huge passion, and would fight to the death for them. Them, lol. They have been married 15 or 16 years, I want to say. Together for a few before that.

One good thing, this has started the will discussion. He is understanding that writing a detailed will with specific bequests of "things" not just $$ might be a good idea. He just had the simple will, and told us that he trusted Diane to do the "right thing". This thing kinda opened his eyes a bit.
