I am in the latter situation (have been for a while), so I feel qualified in saying I'd rather have the former. I'd rather be miserable for eight hours and be able to go home to a beautiful NY strip and a bottle of red (synechdoche) rather than be content at the workplace only to go home and rack my brain about how to get the car fixed (again, synecdoche). After all, worry follows you into the workplace, so whether you like your job or not is irrelevant when you have to wonder how to meet that unexpected expense.

Neither really, but if I had to, 48 hour days. Long nights mess with your head, more than long days. I used to live somewhere where we had 14 hours of sun during high summer, and 14 hours of dark midwinter, and longer days are better.

Well, that's a tough one. Personal experience with cancer would lead me to finding a cure. I guess if it came down to it and I actually got to make this choice, I would base it on whichever option would save more lives. Are there more people dying of cancer or starvation? It's hard to say for sure because malnutrition causes a multitude of health problems...certainly more than the simple answer of starving to death. In the end, I suppose I would choose curing cancer provided this covers every single type of cancer there is in the world.
