Re: Misfits Mafia (Night 1)
Xexyz was a game for the NES I rented when I was a kid. It was interesting that it combined a side-scrolling platform game with a space shooter. It was also occasionally scary. This all is like Xexyz. We're moving from one point to another, some people will get shot, and it's scary because I could die. So yeah.

Roxy - could you restate your case on hedge? I read through your on-topic posts but I don't really follow what you are saying about Hedge. I have had a baddie vibe from her almost since the beginning but I don't like to go on vibes only. She just doesn't seem to be all that with-it concerning the game, that is. But that isn't enough for me to vote her.

This song makes a lot of sense. Never thought about it before. Stupid people wear expensive clothes. My grandma buys all my clothes (seriously) because she works at a thrift store. My shirts are all brand new and she paid like a $2 for each of them. I don't understand the mentality of someone who drops $90 on a sweater. Maybe you're not lucky enough to have a grandma who gets first pick when the Salvation Army truck comes in. That's okay. I don't judge.
Actually I sometimes do. Especially young people.
Such as when kids spend $200 on Nike shoes. And brag about it. I'm like, "What the fuck students?" Those shoes cost around eight bucks to make in Vietnam. But shoes are good for something. Shoes, even Nikes with a 2400% markup, keep your feet warm and comfortable. And granted, you can get those amazing squeaks on the basketball court (although they still don't have pumps on the tongue like mine used to have). Still, they're shoes.
What I don't get are Beats by Dr. Dre. Headphones are great, and I use them all the time for various listening-related activities. But $300 for headphones? Really? Again, "What the fuck students?" is what I would like to say but the principal might hear me. But if he didn't, I would add, "You fucking dumbasses. Why pay $300 for headphones when you're going to listen to bullshit, over-compressed pop and rap music in - *catches breath* - FUCKING MP3 FORMAT? You aren't Phil Spector, even though some of you could be his love child with Crazy Eyes from Orange is the New Black, so why the fuck do you have things on your head that are more expensive than the things on your feet?"
"I got these from my grandma for Christmas."
"See this shirt? I got this from my grandma for Christmas. My grandma cared enough about my fucking dignity that she got me a handsome polo to wear to work, and had enough money and thrift-store employee discount left over to get my children more toys than we could fit in our 2000 Dodge Durango. The only beats my grandma ever gave me were across the ass when I thought about doing something as stupid as buying $300 headphones. This pink shirt with a a blue equestrian on it? God damn right I'm proud of this shirt. And you got Beats by Dr. Dre (now owned by Apple). A status symbol to you because you don't know shit about frequencies or decibels or lossless audio files and neither do your friends. These "friends" who will walk alongside you in the hallway with their earbuds in their ears and your Beats around yours and you two texting each other about the boy who got a blowjob from some other girl in the bathroom and now the pictures are all over Instagram.
What the fuck students? Look at your friend. Make eye contact. Smile. And you don't need the asshole who got head in a boy's bathroom.
Just like you don't need Beats."
But I digress.
Anyway, love my grandma. All three of them.

Re: Misfits Mafia (Night 1)
Night 1: Ice, Ice Baby

Tony was enraged at Alisha's lack of respect for authority. He grabbed a fire axe from the shed and decided there was no helping these children. He was going to stop them before they grew to commit even worse crimes. He quickly claimed his first victim in the bathroom stalls, but his bloodlust was not quenched just yet.
Epignosis trotted home after his first day at the Community Centre. He cracked his knuckles after a long day of work. "Time to relax with a nice, cold drink.", he muttered to himself. Looking in the kitchen, Epignosis was shocked to see his freezer door hanging open, a fine steam pouring from it. Suddenly, his cellar door burst agape into him, knocking the poor Epignosis over. He looked up and his gaze was met by that of his probation worker, holding a giant block of ice while panting aggressively. Epignosis saw the look of primal rage in his assailant's eyes and was frozen in fear. The probation worker brought the chunk of frozen water down on Epignosis's head once, then a second time, and smashed it once more before leaving it to rest on his victim's crushed skull.
A young girl named Rachel was happy to be helping out at the Community Centre. However, she was disappointed and disgusted to see so many immoral children making a mockery of God's great earth. After the storm, she was amazed that she could convince two of her close friends to form a God-fearing, Christian group with her by simply muttering a phrase. Hearing talk of superpowers, Rachel wondered if she had one too. Rachel walked up to a peer from the Centre who had never so much as looked her way, let alone talked to her. This time, she spoke and he listened. The Virtue Organization had found a new soul to save. Rachel was proud to convert her new friend, even if they didn't have a say in the matter.
Elsewhere, a scream rang out as The Misfits found the body of Gary, a rather unimportant body, but a body nontheless. They knew this was a matter to be dealt with promptly, before any more of them were hurt.
Epignosis has been killed by Tony. You have 36 hours to lynch someone!

Re: Misfits Mafia (Day 0)
We were "buddying" as we knew each others games very well in general, although I tend to read her as bad. I have probably played more games with Sorsha than anyone else in this thread, we both were VERY active at both LP & Hedville, as well as active at TP and RM. It is possible I have played more games with her than with anyone. Over 20, certainly, maybe even 30. I have NEVER seen Sorsha lead with fun when she's bad, she is much more serious, IMO.Keterman wrote:@Epignosis
Regarding SVS and Sorsha, I'm leaning towards them being teammates because the two have been buddying quite a bit as DH mentioned earlier. Trying to read individuals is taxing enough though so I try not to overstep my boundaries and figure out entire teams until later in the game, so take that with a grain of salt at best. Of the two, SVS is scummier to me at the moment because most of what has been used against Sorsha could be chalked up to things that don't indicate alignment, whereas with SVS I just don't understand how that could possibly be town playing.
Thanks for the meta on DH and Sorsha, although are you not weary at all of DH being deceitful in this game with his "selfless" act, especially considering that he's a good liar (which doesn't surprise me)?
Answers in red:
This whole thing is based on Sorsha & I being bad teammates. and a total misconstrual of my posts against Made. She was a civ, and I thought Made was bad, specifically with Nutella, based on that one post. I thought he made a baddie slip.Keterman wrote:Okay.
SVS asks if anyone's up to volunteer for the leadership role in her first post. I was the first to volunteer, but SVS immediately voted Sorsha because puppies. It seems strange to me that after a serious establishment from SVS that she was interested in who to vote for, she tosses consideration out the window and votes for the one who's going to give her a free puppy. She knows that there's plenty of time to vote, why toss it for such a random, informal candidate? My vote was fast but it was a self-vote. Some time later SVS makes a morning post, a fragment of which defends her early vote for Sorsha. At first I liked her defense for voting early, that we're not voting to kill someone so it most likely doesn't matter too much, all that. But then...
So, you are annoyed I did not vote for you? My usual thing with day 0 polls (and this is not WIFOM, people who have played alot with me should also know this) is to overthink them, and put alot of discussion into them. That is the point of Day 0 polls, to be a discussion leader. But i was really struck by Sorsha coming in and trying to take the thread.
Now wait a second. Sorsha didn't act like anything when SVS voted for her, she didn't have the time to. All she said was that anyone who voted for her got a free puppy. That's not being a bold leader, that's being playful. SVS actually considers the free puppy post a legitimate "bribe" here, and says as much. And even if is to be considered a serious "bold" bribe somehow, how is that acting like a leader? I really don't like how SVS goes from asking for a volunteer as if it were a serious concern of hers who gets the vote, then immediately voting for someone who made what's essentially a joke post, then goes back to being serious with defending that vote by making the candidate out to be a bold, audacious leader, entirely for the following post:S~V~S wrote: Puppies aside, the main reason I voted for Sorsha so early is that she acted like a leader. She came in and boldly tried to buy the thread, no waiting and discussing for her. She saw what she wanted, and she made an effort to get it by bribing us to follow her. Whether that effort pans out for her or not is a "time will tell" thing. Initially I wanted to wait and hear from everyone blah blah but I think a bold move is a mark of leadership. Had someone else been the one to come in here with a bold move, they would have gotten my vote. Even good old El Hypocritico
It WAS a legitimate bribe~ it was a fun bribe, certainly, and not a real one, but she was buying votes. In a fun way, sure, but she was buying votes. In the context of this game, I thought it was a bold move, and I liked it. She had my vote. You can but all the spin on it you want (and so far, this "case" is just spin, based on the supposition that Sorsha and I were baddie teammates.Sorsha wrote:Everyone who votes for me gets a free puppy!
And now for some hypocrisy. In a later post defending her vote for someone based on a single post, she claims Made to be lynch-worthy just for saying that nutella "knows what's up" citing only three posts. (one of which makes a good point against Sorsha...coincidence?) She tries to make it look like that Made was serious in her tone as opposed to being playful (this is the second time SVS has done this).
I explained this to Blooper~ I thought that single post was an slip, indicating BTSC with Nutella. I think that EVERY post I made regarding Made after that made it very, very , very clear that that was my thought. Especially after Dana came in to defend him, and one of her defenses echoed something Elochin has said to me in a different game.
Here's what I find rather amusing. Look at the bold. SVS attacks Made here for saying that nutella "knows what's up". Why not attack DH instead, who said he was strongly considering voting for her? That's a much more extreme indication of a serious endorsement than what Made said, so why go after Made and not DH? Made addressed this fallacy himself, and this is the response that SVS gave:S~V~S wrote:
Now, THIS is interesting:
Made wrote:
DharmaHelper wrote:I'm strongly considering voting for nutella
Yeah, she seems to know what's up
Really? These are her posts in this game:
nutella wrote:yey game! huh, pick a leader, that's an interesting day 0 poll.nutella wrote:I would more likely trust DH than SVS I thinkCanuck though, I'd put my money on her.
Those who have voted, is this a changeable vote?Which of these make you think she knows whats up more so than anyone else playing so far? If this was a lynch, I think this post would have been worth a Day One vote, and it still might be.nutella wrote:Really? I thought I'd seen you make it to the end as a sneaky baddie quite a few times...Sorsha wrote: I think I am easy enough for most people to read, if I did happen to be bad (which I'm not), you'd all be able to tell in a day or two and could lynch me. I think I'm a good choice.
Mades answer gave a deeper implication of opinion; DH only said that he was seriously considering a vote for Nutella. Made gave an opinion about her based on pretty much nothing. Not the same.S~V~S wrote:
I voted for Sorsha, not DH, and it isn't a threat. It's a statement of suspicion; I find your behavior suspicious, and i am saying so~ as far as I am aware I can't lynch anyone by myself.Stating whom I suspect is how I play the game. Your statement was not the same as his. He said we was strongly considering voting for her. You said that she seemed like she knew what was going on. I get what you are saying, but i am not sure that I buy it tbh.
She dodges that she finds DH a good candidate without reason by saying that she didn't vote for him, she voted for someone else. Again, I find this amusing because in this same post SVS uses logic that renders that defense obsolete. A "statement of suspicion" is the same for a lynch vote as a statement of trust is for the Day 0 vote, so it doesn't matter that she didn't actually vote DH, she still excused him for a stronger offense than Made's. She tries to explain this by dividing the two statements of DH and Made: one is a vote statement, the other is "nutella knows stuff".
I said I found DH a good candidate (along with a few others) becasue I know him to be a strong leader. But ultimately, I did not vote for him, I voted for Sorsha, becasue I felt that she was a better candidate, and iirc, several people who voted to lynch ME actually DID vote for DH. So
Okay.
Let's see here.
Why would DH consider nutella a likely vote? Her posts. Which, at the time, were three. Not much to base a vote off of, but hey, it's more than a "bribe" for a free puppy. Now what about Made? I don't know how familiar is with the language that Made has been going for throughout the game...but..."know's what's up" does not imply actual knowledge. At all. It's like, she's cool, she's hip, she's funky. When you take a simple ebonics-influenced phrase like that and stretch it so far you actually imply that it meant that nutella had superior knowledge of the game than everyone else, and you use that absurd leap as a justification for a potential lynch vote? I rest my case.
No, wait, then in her next post SVS dismisses her issues with Made over a simple misunderstanding while proceeding to hail DH, the one who possessed a stronger case against him based on SVS's own logic and had no newbie-related misunderstanding to excuse it. NOW I rest my case.
I've also been taking issue with Sorsha's post, but everything that's bugged me about her has already been mentioned extensively enough, mainly that she tried to make it out like if she were scum she could be lynched easily. Also her case against Dana was horrible and it was followed by the beautifully-fence-sitting statement that she trusts SVS but that SVS could be tricking her. That was her most recent post, too.
I've already stated my issues with DH early on and they're still present. His fittingly Ned Stark-ian "selfless leader" bullshtick seems fabricated to gain trust (especially taking into account that as I mentioned before it's regarding an online Mafia game for a vote that the general consensus seems to think doesn't matter much in the first place, even as far the actual game goes), and the fact that it worked as well as it did certainly doesn't help. Feigning honor and selflessness to gain power, how politican of you, DH.
I'm strongly in favor of a 48 hour day to see which of these three (SVS, Sorsha, DH, or a possible other candidate if someone else gets very suspicious very fast) will get my vote.
The thing about this is that you said after all my defenses that I did not address your case, and i did, totally. I don't see anything that I missed. back after work to reply to your reply. Please point out what I have not addressed that concerns you, and I will be happy to do so

Also, I have no indication of DHs alignment, he can be equally out there regardless of alignment, and we both can tend to misread each other as we play pretty different games. Did he vote for me last time? I only recall Elos vote (for not defending while I was papering the thread with a defense) and Nutellas (for being subtly evasive, which actually made me laugh out loud on the bus, which is not a good idea).

Hey, everyone!!! So sorry! I've had serious internet issues (well, Time Warner issues), but everything is squared away now. I need to do what I can in the Fight Club game first, and then I have errands to run today, so I might not have time to come back here after FC stuff, but I will be in at some point today to catch up!

Since the poll ends six hours after I go to bed (even if I wasn't super tired there's no way I'd stay up) I'm probably gonna have to vote really early but I have no idea who for and obviously nobody else is here to talk...

So to Bullz and everone else: The poll officially ends Friday afternoon at 2PM ET. It's a day and a half long (36 hours from last night). I figured it'd get us back on a normal-ish schedule after Tuesday's delay. Is that copacetic?

Re: Misfits Mafia (Night 1)
Hedge is not choosing a side she is straddling the fence making sure to cover herself based on hopw the lynch goes. I have also noticed she reads or is in thread often but never posts. Ofc I read a lot when working and don't always post something major but I will post something.Elohcin wrote:Roxy - could you restate your case on hedge? I read through your on-topic posts but I don't really follow what you are saying about Hedge. I have had a baddie vibe from her almost since the beginning but I don't like to go on vibes only. She just doesn't seem to be all that with-it concerning the game, that is. But that isn't enough for me to vote her.
This is Boogs posts after the Sorsha lynch. Let us remember what he said here as we read his posts leading up to Sorshas lynch.Boogs wrote:Um so question MR, does her role mean that everyone who voted for her can't vote tomorrow and are silenced? Or am I not understanding? And RIP Sorsha! Felt like you honestly were a frustrated Civ and tried to help save you.
Here he links SVS and Sorsha using "cahoots" and also links DSH to all his voters. Reaching and unfounded tbh.Boogs wrote:This game is cray cray lol. I am off today trying to catch up and I don't know what to make of everything lol. I'm not sure to continue thinking Sorsha for the Day 0 vote was really her playing dumb or if she was really just confused. And I'm not sure what to make of SVS voting for her, I think it's ballsy that early to vote for a teammate when most of us were self voting. But it looked like DH won? I don't see the poll so I must have missed before it ended. Because if people wanted to bring up that maybe SVS was in cahoots with Sorsha, then wouldn't the same be said for DH voters? If anyone has the poll results that would help us all
This is Boogs second post about Sorsha - that's some real nice help to save her right thereBoogs wrote:Sorsha self voting and not giving much defense was odd. Hmmmm...

Then suddenly in his very next post:
Still not seeing the "help" he overstated in his post-lynch post.Boogs wrote:I forgot the deadline! I felt bad after Sorsha's non defense and i ended up taking it as civ frustration. Threw a vote for SVS to help give Sorsha a chance. Mrow!
I added this post bc it made me giggle. He said he tried to help her by saying she was in cahoots with SVS and by saying that her self vote and non defense was odd.Boogs wrote:SVS I understand you defended and Sorsha didn't as well, however I had a gut feeling she was frustrated and not bad so I had to vote you in order to help her. Putting up a good defense doesn't mean someone is Civ however. So I tried to help her and it turned out she was Civ after all. Not sure what you are yet, but I look forward to hearing more from you now that you are still alive.
And Dana thank you for clearing up that you and Made knew Nutella pre- Misfits Mafia. I took it kind of as her defending a teammate and now I understand better.
With the new info that we see Sorsha was Civ, what do you guys think should our votes go for tomorrow?
So as you can read for yourselves he never really "helped" Sorsha the way he said he did. No where prior to the lynch did he express anything about a "gut feeling".

I see what you're saying about Boogs, Roxy. he seems to want to try and gain some civvie credit for trying to "help" save Sorsha, but I'm not sure I buy it. If he really wanted to help save her he could have introduced a new suspect or something, but he didn't. IDK.

Hedge how did you go from this:
To this:
Hedgeowl wrote:Alrighty then this is a chatty game! Honestly, I read the Sorsha SVS Puppygate as the hilarious Day 0 event that it was and nothing more. I would look at Sorsha the most for being so Gungho about wanting to be a leader, but yeah SVS even shared pics of her dog and cat, so obviously this got "personal" I would say and would definitely not be the SVS baddie strategy some of us are used to.
Explanation forthcoming: In first statement you quoted Roxy I said, "I would..., but" about Sorsha. What I meant was that normally I would be more suspicious of someone like Sorsha coming in and advocating too hard to be picked, but reading through all the posts it felt like a silly fun and entertaining way to go about Day 0, not super serious strategizing. The way SVS responded to "puppies!" felt the same. Like they were two people having fun in a game (this is a game right?). That was my initial read on the situation, so the two comments I made were consisten in my feelings.
To this:

Uh Roxy this is bothering me so I'm just going to point it out -- you took that first Boogs quote entirely out of context. Did you even read the whole sentence?:
And I don't really understand what you're trying to say about him anyway. His posts that you quoted all look really consistent. They all say in some form or another that he had a feeling Sorsha was civ. I don't see much contradiction at all, except when he said Sorsha's self vote was odd.
I'm curious to hear more from Hedge and SVS today. I thought DH's point about Hedge saying the kill was a "strange choice" was worth noting, but I could see her posting that as innocent speculation as well. Also, I do remember something about her "top posters theory" from the Occult game. So I'd like to hear more from her on that. I'm feeling better about SVS since her latest post but I will still pay some attention to her.
Doesn't look to me like he's saying it's his opinion that SVS was in cahoots with Sorsha, rather that he was commenting on other people possibly thinking that. Re: Misfits Mafia (Day 2)
I would like to hear from Made and Keterman. Keterman told me I owed an explanation to the town, and I had already given it. If there is anything I have not explained to his satisfaction, I would like to hear about it so I can explain that, as well.
As for Made, he was asking if voting for me again would be double targeting, although, again, I thought I explained myself pretty well. I would like to hear from him why he thinks I am so heinous, other than voting for a civvie to possibly get a benefit on Day Zero, and thinking he made a baddie slip thus leading me to suspect him.
I want to reread yesterdays thread tonight, I want to see who pushed the Sorsha=bad thing the most.

Re: Misfits Mafia (Day 2)
Roxy where you quoted me saying SVS and Sorsha were in cahoots, I was saying the forum to me was suggesting that and I was defending her by saying, the same could have been said for DH as a comparison to say she isn't necessarily the best choice. I was intrigued by her posts all Day until she got very defensive and angry. And I can relate to that because I get that way in games too. I knew how she was feeling and could relate, so I knew at that point I personally felt she wasn't bad and a frustrated civ. I got off work and go on my phone to see if I could vote when I got home with corsair, and I saw we literally had less than 10 mins so I voted fast to try to keep Sorsha from being lynched and voted SVS in order to do so. I think I've been consistent whether or not you agree, Roxy.

Actually my point is he was posting their names together by making that comment and linking that to DH and his voters like there was something nefarious between the votes but does not go into the detail he did tonight. Still my main point stands that post was also not a "helping" post to Sorsha during the lynch.nutella wrote:Uh Roxy this is bothering me so I'm just going to point it out -- you took that first Boogs quote entirely out of context. So you think his post about Sorshas self vote and non defense was consisent? Then our definitions of consistent and helping are polar opposite.
