Re: The Elder Scrolls [DAY 1]
The Daedra aren't evil. Mostly they don't give a damn. In the sense of "destruction clears a place for something new, so it isn't good or evil, just happens." Mehrunes Dagon doesn't want to destroy everything out of some evil intent, it's just what he does. Generally though his followers will be asking him for "hey destroy my enemies first" type favors so most people are gonna get a bad feeling towards him.Alison wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 7:40 pmI don't think all Daedra are evil. Meridia and Azura are arguably good. Hircine is more of a force of nature than something that falls into the spectrum of good and evil. Sheogorath is mostly harmless.Timsup2nothin wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 7:37 pm They are Daedra shrines...they are almost all some degree of "bad." According to the game materials it appears we all (town and maf) have a number of shrines to choose from and those shrines will give various abilities. I take that to mean that no players in particular are special and that the typical "PR" stuff will be handed out of the shrines to whoever. Presumably the maf will use those powers against the town and the town will try to use those powers against the maf...but the shrines/daedra themselves are best looked at as just neutral.
Anyway, in most ES settings I just try to steer clear of Daedra, but I'll go shrining along with everyone else at night and try to get something useful for the town.

Seems okay. Response to Mac and you with the out of the blue tunnel maybe a little too calm, but they seem to have experience with Mac so maybe they just expect that kind of thing. The lack of experience with ES games seems honest to me, for whatever that proves to be worth.

Re: The Elder Scrolls [DAY 1]
Being uncomfortable with strong early reads is either scum nervous about how quick town are launching into solving or a site culture issue where they come from a community whose site meta is to dick around D1. However Scotty has experience with MacDougall and doesn't seem to be a first-time Syndicator so I am doubting the latter explanation.

Re: The Elder Scrolls [DAY 1]
Well, presuming that you are town getting bumrushed by tunnelers before the day even gets started is definitely bad for your victory conditions (if you really get hard tunneled that will give the wolves every opportunity to just luff through day one), where a poor town read probably won't hurt you for several days at least.Scotty wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 7:57 pmIt’s far more dangerous to town lock someone early than it is to sus. >rand townTimsup2nothin wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 7:21 pm So, historically this is where I make the one word post; "first" and then dip for several hours. I have always found that amusing, since I am never actually first. However, I have been putting off a change in playstyle for several games due to an unfortunate series of rands and the opportunity has finally arrived. No one word humor driven first post. No threadsitting fluff posting. No obnoxiously refusing to give reads. I'm just here to town it up and if the wolves NK me for it that's fine.
I wanted to do this in GoC but that vig rand; I had to play it to stay alive. I have read through all the rules and such in the OP and my own role, and I think all the good power type actions are going to be available to all town players based on shrine visits so I am just one of many and eating the early NK will be fine.
I do have a pretty strong amount of experience with Elder Scrolls games, though I think Sloonei is writing a new story here and that knowledge is background at best. If anyone has questions I will try to help though. Ping me.
As a first cut, Azura is generally the most inclined to help mortals among the Daedra...and Mehrunes Dagon should really translate as "run the other way as fast as you can" so I am most likely not visiting that shrine ever.

I really don't believe that Scotty genuinely thinks that me saying I want to form a town circle with Mac and Tim is going to lead to us throwing the endgame because we held onto that one post from page 1 throughout the entire game.

I agree to do this until Tim invariably pings me late on day 1 and I proceed to tinfoil him for the next 3-4 days until he gets mischopped on day 4 and blames exclusively me for it.

Let me lead by example then: I’m going to scumread tim right now.Timsup2nothin wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 7:41 pmIf you have detailed info on what powers you get from various shrines you are way ahead of me, but I'm pretty deeply in the "yeah typical NPC type character" pool, so sure. My reading is that each character accesses different powers from different shrines. So as an example. Altmer Noble may be able to access shrines A, B, C, D and E. Argonian Mage may be able to access shrines C, D, E, F and G. Both can access shrine C but they get different powers from accessing shrine C based on the flavor of C as well as their own character's flavor.
One of the powers I can access from a shrine is confirmable and I think pretty pro-town.
Maybe I am off base here, but I know exactly what the shrines I can access do, and I am town.
Could it be that some town roles don’t see that into? Maybe.
But I’m currently getting non commital vibes that don’t ring town in tim

No no I didn’t say anything about being unaffiliated with daedra, I said that you not knowing what at least one shrine does from your role card is suspicious.Timsup2nothin wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 8:22 pmI am just a humble merchant and don't know squat from what Daedric shrines do. If you seriously think "unaffiliated with Daedra" is gonna be a wolf tell in this setup, then...sure, go get it tiger. I think that's a really bad assumption.Scotty wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 8:15 pmLet me lead by example then: I’m going to scumread tim right now.Timsup2nothin wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 7:41 pmIf you have detailed info on what powers you get from various shrines you are way ahead of me, but I'm pretty deeply in the "yeah typical NPC type character" pool, so sure. Thanks for clarifying because I was mostly thinking this was your fairly typical early game claim and not really aligning well with the set-up, but it does make sense enough now.Alison wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 7:34 pmOne of us is misunderstanding the setup I think.Timsup2nothin wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 7:31 pmThis seems unlikely from Sloonei's opening material posts, but no one is likely to be in a hurry to kill you, so sure...demonstrate.
Let's check the flip side...Alison says that like you she has info on what the shrines do for her...does that make her a lock town in your opinion?
And that’s based on literally an assumption you not matching my info is a scumtell. But I also acknowledge that this could be a dart throw
As to Alison being a town lock- not until I see something happen in thread that tells me she is town.
Though fwiw I think she is performing as a down to business town. Like Barbara from shark tank
