if the assumption in this post is correct (that gavial's read on me was totally serious), then wouldn't you say that it's pretty unconventional/strange for him to have a confident scumread based on the first couple of posts on page 1? how would you say that those reads are "orthodox" or "sane"?

something might be getting lost in translation w/your read on gavial, because the only frame of reference i have for him is fargo mafia, where he was fairly normal (iirc)

I don't even remember what Gavial was like in Fargo Mafia to be honest, that game feels like it happened in the Dark Ages.

When I say Gavial plays in a strange way I mean he randomly picks someone to be scum, gives really weird reasons if he gives reasons at all, and then preflips the entire mafia team based off associations with them.

It's hard to explain unless you've seen him in full bloom for yourself but basically his town meta involves making people want to policy him.

[VOTE: Dyslexicon] aubergine

Agree 100%
probs one wolf in here
why's that?
random naked vote on someone who hasn't posted, sheeped by someone else.
I've seen it happen where an early wagon gets started, even via meme votes, and that person never escapes poe even if the wagon completely dies that day
how else do you get out of the fluff stage of the game if wagons never start? this is strange to me. would you have essentially said this about any wagon that picked up 2 votes?

Was Gavial the guy who fakeclaimed a chef?

If so then that kinda supports my meta doesn't it, since he was scum in Fargo and "relatively normal"

I don't think it was that premature a read and it was certainly better than sitting around letting the thread rot.

Personally I think the fact that Bluey seems to be such a beloved show is actually anti town because it encourages people to drop some NAI post about the flavor and peace out. If there was no flavor we would probably be talking more about who is mafia.

Yo Marmot.
Why you sheeping?
Does Marmot not sheep? Does it mean anything to you
Well clearly he does because he’s doing it.
I’m just asking why.
this still doesn't make much sense to me because there's no reasoning attached to my vote so he's not really sheeping anything at all so to look into at all doesn't make sense.

UNLESS IT'S A REACTION TEST.

those are fun

is it a reaction test? does me asking about it ruin it?

Yo Marmot.
Why you sheeping?
First one pretty clearly calls SPF scum. I don't think it's a joke vote either, this is how he phrases actual scumreads. Second one is clearly meant to shade Marmot and express suspicion of him.
Nah Fam this is a reach.
I’m with HC here.
It is a clear joke vote as its SoD1 aka Meme Phase.
I don’t Phraze actual scum reads with “GG EZ Game” nice try, that’s clearly a joke.
Am I clearly meant to shade marmot and be sus of a simple sheep during SoD? I’m just curious as to why he choose to do it when he did and what inspired him to do so.

my apologies, i ask a lot of questions;

why is it that her accusation caused you to react like this? you agreed with hallow(i think that was their username) about there being scum on the dizzy wagon immediately, but here you've backtracked as much as one can back track in saying that it doesn't mean much because it's the meme stage of the game. which is it, do you think there's scum on the dizzy wagon or are you just curious about his intentions. it can't be both.

SPF can have a slight town read.

alison having strong conclusions early is pretty typical for her as either alignment. i got pinged by her read initially because it had a train of thought that didn't seem totally fluid to me (ie: describing gavial's reads as "conventional" when his play up until that point had been anything but conventional), but i think it's fine in the context of alison having highly specific meta about gavial's playstyle, and in the context of her trying to provide content to a game that was almost entirely dead

alison having strong conclusions early is pretty typical for her as either alignment. i got pinged by her read initially because it had a train of thought that didn't seem totally fluid to me (ie: describing gavial's reads as "conventional" when his play up until that point had been anything but conventional), but i think it's fine in the context of alison having highly specific meta about gavial's playstyle, and in the context of her trying to provide content to a game that was almost entirely dead

i see, fair enough. you make nothing of it tho, correct?

what do you think about him backtracking in regards to the suspicion he showed on marmot and I? when i say backtracking i dont mean in that read itself, but he seemed to switch from taking things seriously to saying everything was essentially non-serious after alison attacked him?

does anyone stand out as particularly scummy to you?

Dizzy did not play in that game. Sorry I've played with dizzy for like 2-3 years now, it's just marmot and nook that are new to me. If you'd like I could still summarize his meta, but I'll refrain from giving away anything in regards to how I differentiate his alignment obviously as he hasn't posted yet and that's kind of needless!

I'll give a light townread to Invictius if he knows Dizzy since I don't think anyone who knows Dizzy would be inclined to choose him as the random bandwagon Day 1 target.

Well, at least not in a game this size. In larger games maybe, since he'd be more inclined to slank early, but Dizzy is good at projecting town in smaller games.

It feels like it's ages since I played mafia, but in reality it's probably just one month or something.

But I'm like really good at it. Super duper.

I've seen it happen where an early wagon gets started, even via meme votes, and that person never escapes poe even if the wagon completely dies that day
So in that scenario I would always be town?

This is super flawed thinking anyhow in so many ways. I don't think it's very meaningful in itself for any of the people involved.

Alison wrote: Wed May 12, 2021 12:45 am The point is that Gavial is infamous for having insane troll logic and I think this is because he simply views the game in a very twisty and strange way that is far removed from everyone else's when he is town. His play this game seems much more orthodox and I believe this is a symptom of him trying to mimic "normal" townies.
I actually found him awkward. Asking Marmot "why sheep" is probably "logical/ok" on a surface level, but it's also like ...marmot sheeps cause marmot sheeps cause marmot sheeps who cares.

Anyway, I don't know him and I don't know his play. But this is certainly interesting information. But you didn't vote him for the reason I thought.

Alison wrote: Wed May 12, 2021 1:07 am I don't even remember what Gavial was like in Fargo Mafia to be honest, that game feels like it happened in the Dark Ages.

I would prefer to just let Gavial play before taking this information in.
