Martha looked around, and saw no one.

There was a small whirr of some machine coming from the room next door. As Susan looked up a sinister blue light appeared under the doorway. She glanced at Martha nervously.

Just then, a Nurse in a starched uniform, hat & face walked over and said to Martha, "Time to leave now, your sister is in good hands".

Martha turned to her sister, "Do or die time, stay or go?"

Susan stood up, and as the tears in her eyes spilled over, she turned and started walking towards the door.

A tiny smile started in the corner of Martha's quivering mouth.

She took her sisters hand, and, turning around towards the startled, starched nurse, said, "See ya, Psychos!!" and reached for the doorknob.

Susan thought the sun's golden rays had never shone more beautifully than in that moment as she stood before the open door.

She was actually surprised by the hand that closed around her right wrist, less so by the one that gripped her left a second later.

"Who wears a flower pinky ring?" she thought as the grip tightened around her wrist.

She felt a mixture of shock, sadness and resignation swirl through her as the hands, her sisters hands, pulled her back from the door leading to the street, and towards the door leading to the sterile bowels of this place.

She looked down to see who was helping her sister lead her away from the clinic; she saw for a moment, the sun's rays hit against the little girls ring and her shiny blond hair and then she was gone, "I think I'm having a daughter."

"I am so confused" she shouted to no one in particular.
"Why are we going downstairs? I thought we were leaving! Where are you taking me?"

The door slammed shut on her screams as her sister walked out the front door and into the sunshine.

Martha turned abruptly and started pounding on the door, "let me in!!!"

She turned to her right and saw a basement window.

There were bars on it; defeated, she slowly turned around.

With a renewed sense of conviction, she walked around the side of the building determined to find a way in to her sister.

Then she stopped, a smirk twisting her pretty face, that had until that moment been identical to her sisters; she had always had the hots for Susans boyfriend, Alphonso, and had wanted to see if she could pass as Susan with him.

(I can just see the outraged smile on kates face as she reads this, trying not to laugh, while simultaneously being annoyed~ this is fun

It was such a shame that he died in that car accident this summer, she shook off the thought and went back to searching for her sister.

She walked around the building for several minutes, and seeing the bars on all the windows, realized her sister was better off in such a place, hailed a cab, got in, and went home.
