Re: 1984 Mafia
I only know that because I read 1984 a couple of months ago for the first time.
Esooa says there is a Traitor in the game, is that real?

Re: 1984 Mafia
I know the rules, I know it's Schrödinger's Traitor and that we could all be in for a repeat of G-Man's "everyone's Town ha-ha! Ha!" game. I'm saying Esooa sounds like she's 100% on a Traitor being present.falcon45ca wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 10:47 am50/50 chance

Re: 1984 Mafia
Yeah, I saw the post I think you're talking about. I dunno, I took it as just early town bravado. If she's the Traitor, she has no incentive to make that post IMOLong Con wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 11:03 amI know the rules, I know it's Schrödinger's Traitor and that we could all be in for a repeat of G-Man's "everyone's Town ha-ha! I don't really understand how to approach this game, I feel like I'll flip a coin on Day 3 and hope for the best. I

Re: 1984 Mafia
So we might all be Town, and if there's a wolf then there will never be any teammate interaction analysis because they're alone. Do we yeet based on personality??
I guess everyone has to try and make accusations, and then we see who gets killed for a couple of nights, and say "oh! Jim was killed and he suspected Jane and Keith, so one of them must be the Traitor!" But then the Traitor will kill someone who doesn't suspect them, of course. If there's a Traitor.
Has this style of game been played before? If so, how did it go?

Re: 1984 Mafia
we should be voting the most suspicious players d1 and d2 even if we decide there is no traitor on d3
Re: 1984 Mafia
If we try to lynch traitor D1 and D2 and just vote sleep D3, our chances to win are:
1/2 x (1 - 10/11 x 8/9) + 1/2 = 59.6%
If we choose to not ever vote sleep, our chances are:
1/2 x (1 - 10/11 x 8/9 x 6/7 x 4/5) = 22.3%
Re: 1984 Mafia
So it's probably more optimal to always vote sleep D3 and try to find traitor D1 or D2 incase there is one.
Re: 1984 Mafia
Wished another mafia game started. It's kind of boring when I only have a game in which half the players aren't even playing.

Re: 1984 Mafia
Maybe the trick is is to determine what optimal baddie strats are and make that play as hard as possible. I don't think it makes sense to town lead here from scum perspective. What should scum be doing right now?

Re: 1984 Mafia
A traitor would be more cautious that town, so conservative players should be who we target, not necessarily quiet players, but players who aren't risking it all. I feel like the lack of familiarity with the format would make traitor more risk adverse.

Re: 1984 Mafia
Like... blending? Tryharding? Should we cut the lowest posters? If you just look at this page of posts, who is the wolfiest?
Risking what all though??

Re: 1984 Mafia
I suppose. The point is we try to townread each other and eliminate the two most likely candidates for traitor if there is one. If none of them are traitor, then it's most optimal to sleep D3.
Re: 1984 Mafia
Hence we should treat D1 and D2 as if those are our only days to find the traitor.
Re: 1984 Mafia
Though, we can gamble on a lynch D3 and if game doesn't end there we'll know there's a traitor.
Re: 1984 Mafia
Yeah, D3 will be pretty much a coinflip. Though one flip will win us the game and other not necessarily.
Re: 1984 Mafia
I would rather we try to find each other town. It's way easier to find town this game and we really need to narrow down he traitor pool.

Re: 1984 Mafia
Wondering if we should risk a lynch D3 and if we're wrong at least none of us wins here lol

For some reason this game has been put into the "active mafia games" section of the forum, but I call shenanigans!

Apparently so. One person hasn't shown up yet, and many others just aren't posting. I'm a chronic low poster, and I am flabbergasted that I have the second highest post count right now.

It's also surprising I'm one of the top three posters so far.
I think I can count the number of games I was top poster on one hand.

I honestly don't remember Marl ever correctly town reading me at the start of game when I'm town.
That happens when Marl is town as well.

Re: 1984 Mafia
Two games where Marl tunnels townies when they are town.
Unimeko and Things Joy Flavor.
Both of these games are on my home site.
https://forum.throneoflies.com/t/thing- ... wins/86704
https://forum.throneoflies.com/t/uminek ... /86554/294
So if the pattern is correct. Marl can't be our traitor.
Plusgood feelings.
