Re: The Elder Scrolls [DAY 8]
honestly, if it is tim then I'm going to realize my soul read thing on him is real. like, I legit was so frustrated how I didn't get my "oh, yeah tim is town" read on him.
plus now I will know how he is as scum.
but if it isn't him then idk. I think it's just tim though.
like how he literally stopped scum hunting and just been afk. how most of the people tim has been voting has been wrong.
the fact that tim just sheeped into the Radishes vote. town!tim doesn't do that. he was like oh we are piling on Radishes? okay I will just vote there too.

Re: The Elder Scrolls [DAY 8]
One thing I would like to note is that Tim claimed he can go to any Shrine any night, and can repeat the same Shrine multiple nights in a row.
My own power works the same way, I went to namira last night and I am allowed to go there tonight, I just asked the host.
That doesn't preclude Tim from being an independent role, it just lends credibility to some of his claim at least.

Re: The Elder Scrolls [GAME OVER]
Since so many of you could not resist the allure of "Chaos", I'll explain how that worked:
There were several possible outcomes of visiting Sheogorath's shrine. All of the options were assigned a range of numbers between 1-100, and when someone visited the shrine we'd RNG a result. 1-55 was "posting curse". 55-100 featured, in uneven intervals, several much more useful things like "1-shot investigative ability", "double vote", "remove self from the poll", etc.
But the best option, which just barely missed being landed on Night 1 (by TSP) was the Wabbajack. There was 3 or 4% chance that a player visiting Sheogorath's shrine could receive the Wabbajack, a new Artifact, and become Sheogorath's Champion. The Wabbajack would grant the player a nightly redirection ability. I was rooting for it every time one of you went for chaos.

My heart broke when Tim killed Kyle. He can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Tim did that with every intention of hitting a civilian. That completely changed the complexion of the endgame. Before that, I thought Kyle was going to win, or Kyle and Tim were going to win together.

Re: The Elder Scrolls [GAME OVER]
After Radiohead, I wanted to make a game where the mafia team had a shared pool of abilities, rather than everyone being assigned their own ability. I'd also just kind of always wanted to run a general Elder Scrolls themed game, and the idea for shrines jumped out naturally to me as a thematic fit for that mechanic. And I liked it so much that I decided it worked for the whole game.
I wanted to make it another game that blended the old school syndicate style of playing without relying on claims with the newer trends centered around playing with claims. There were both direct and indirect claim deterrents. The Razor was obviously a direct deterrent. Indirectly, there were so many abilities out there, and so many of them only incidentally useful, that the potential benefit of claiming was relatively limited unless the information was very pertinent. Players would be receiving some information on their own, but it would not really be useful enough to necessitate sharing on its own. And then there were also a lot of abilities repeated across both alignments, just to muddy the waters a little bit more. The game was a bit convoluted by design.
Syn's role was the only one that I felt could have been exploited to be more powerful than it was intended, but that was nullified some because he was killed the instant he claimed it, so maybe it really wasn't all that powerful in the end.
I felt like the game played out well and everyone had a fair shot at winning. I welcome feedback.

Re: The Elder Scrolls [GAME OVER]
I had actually ruled in private that that would not be the case. I realize his rolecard says that, but I wasn't going to allow a shared victory in those circumstances. The "Three kills and retire from the game" win condition was put there with the idea that he'd hit the target without the game being otherwise resolved.DaisyCloud wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 7:35 pm oh dang. tim could have won if we let him kill 1 more time.

There were a couple roles similar to yours! Bo had no night action at all. Stupid Sexy Moghedien and Syn were other “visit any shrine and get a result” type roles.Long Con wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 7:51 pmThat's exactly what I said a few pages ago... no way Tim intended to help us like that. Re: The Elder Scrolls [GAME OVER]
this is why I liked the game so much. I dislike claiming with a passion. personal reasons mostly. I'm nad at it and 99.99% of the time I mess it up. I loved that claiming in this game would be negative in some ways.Sloonei wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 7:35 pm After Radiohead, I wanted to make a game where the mafia team had a shared pool of abilities, rather than everyone being assigned their own ability. there is tons of reasonable why I enjoyed this game. I can't list them all.
any negative aspects of the game has 0 to do with the set up or your hosting.
I think you made a really balanced game. the game could have went in so many different ways. I like how the mechanics of the game and the randomness of strangers playing this all together was balanced. I hope you host more games like this.

Re: The Elder Scrolls [GAME OVER]
It's hard to say so in hindsight, but do you think I'm still yeeted when I was if Gavial didn't accidentally get a track on where I went (or rather where I didn't go)? I think I at least survive another day, which also would've increased our chances of winning.
Good game town! It's probably karma that a 3P finally accidentally assisted in a town win rather than stealing it from them
