But mafia is a game about consensus building. This is why you lose games for towns, short of just when you're a wolf I guess, because trying to assume decision-making for the entire town doesn't work. It's open to manipulation from every angle by scum, even when the self-appointed townleader IS town, and you're neutering one of the town's biggest weapons which is the wisdom of crowds.

You lost a mafia game for the entire town
Which hey, it happens, but you're the one that wanted to bring up my track record in that game so it seems fair to examine it
Yes you didI didn't blame shit.
lmao what is this? No I wasn't. I don't even have a mic.You were the one in dvc hanging shit on people. You still were as recently as 2 weeks ago over a game that ended 2 years ago.
Yes you did, you complained you weren't at the top of the picks.I didn't bitch at all about voting.
I don't like you. I was prepared to let it lie at just disliking your playstyle, which I do, but since you wanted to start shit then hey, you are and were also just unpleasant to play with on a personal level. What the fuck is wrong with you?

If I’m cleared, I’m out of my comfort zone and the only way people continue to interact with me is to ask me to solve the game for them.
I don’t want to be hard cleared unless I get a couple townie players tunneling me and it’s getting near lylo.
Being read as town is your single most important job as town wtaf
Here I thought the most important part of being a townie is to catch wolves.
Trying to yeet people for having a different idea of how to play the game than you net you a lot of wolves? Historically, I mean?

I dispute your characterisation and I have won more town games than I've lost and I've played a lot dude. You are casting a lot of judgement for a person who read a single game of mine. It would be discerning to withhold judgement pending some statistically viable data.IBA wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 12:09 amRight so this is the problem with townleaders, you think it is not only reasonable but optimal for you to dictate what other people think, and anyone who opposes this is either scum or a noob.MacDougall wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 12:05 am IBA is not the person to be having discussions about views on the game. I am not someone who approaches games with the same mentality every time. I also have changed a great deal as a player since then. I'd appreciate if you would give me the benefit of the doubt on this otherwise this game will be a suckfest.

Vocal drift is a universal phenomenon- you hear other people pronounce a word or use it a certain way and you are likely to do the same instinctively. This is how accents, dialects, and languages form and change in the first place, it's not a conscious endeavor. In fact great effort has to be made to check this growth, hence the modern (from a grand perspective) proliferation of dictionaries, writers' guides, and other institutions to formalize language. Hence the Devil's Dictionary's entry for same:
At any rate, this is to say that while scum might do this too, it suggests a pretty relaxed posture that is >null town, as tells go.DICTIONARY, n. A malevolent literary device for cramping the growth of a language and making it hard and inelastic. This dictionary, however, is a most useful work.

Pride is not the opposite of shame, but it’s source. True humility is the only antidote to shame.

It was really hard to keep finding my copy of last month's letters. My draw got so full.

Yeah that's fair. I'll try to keep an open mind and have at least gotten it out of my system. Those cards on the table, though, regardless of personality, I feel and will act generally on my belief that deferring to any real or perceived "leader" or authority as town is a bad strategy and bad gameplay, just as a simple matter of decision-making, and this is just as a strategy and nonwithstanding my RL position as an anarcho-communist, which may or may not be a factor in that.MacDougall wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 12:19 amI dispute your characterisation and I have won more town games than I've lost and I've played a lot dude. He has obtuse ones and will defend them as though they are empirical. Anyone who engages him on this who knows him is probably looking for reasons to upset the gamestate.
I am not someone who approaches games with the same mentality every time. I also have changed a great deal as a player since then. I'd appreciate if you would give me the benefit of the doubt on this otherwise this game will be a suckfest.
I apologise for being callous in my reaction.
Long story short I'm up for trying to be more productive etc. but I'm not gonna play ball with the idea that anyone should be deferring to anyone else's judgments per se.
