Anyone Interested in a Quick Game?

Metalmarsh is looking to host a quick game, a game that lasts less than a real time day. Less than 10 players, hour long days, 15 minute nights, something along those lines.

It could be set up on a Holiday, or on any given Sunday. If it works out, we can set up other "pick up" games in the future.

If this would interest enough people, we can then start discussing a date for it.

Daisy and I intend on utilizing this concept in a similar fashion real time during our wedding so that those here on TS can interact with those at the wedding by participating in a "quick" mafia game over a period of a few hours or so. More details on that later, but thought it was worth dropping a reference.

I'm super intrested, but I agree, it would get chaotic very quickly in a board format. I could see the chaos being kind of fun tho.

As a suggestion, maybe it could be a hybrid game of chatroom and board??

I don't think it would be that chaotic if it was a small number of players, like 12 or 14. A game of 30 players would definitely be too much.

That can be determined. When I played a game like this it was on a chatboard, and yeah, the linkitis function could make it hard to follow in a board setting.

Hopefully we can get the kinks out in time for the wedding, so it runs even more smoothly

Linki, for the time frame we have 10 or less would be best, but linki still might be a problem in a real time environment.

DH hosted one of these I played years ago and it was loads of fun. I would be interested in trying one again, but like has been noted with enough advance notice and an early start time since we have different time zones.
We also used to play mafia on irc and that was fun. The sexy losties!

There would be no problem setting up an irc channel just for this game. I know how to set up the basic irc channel - it just takes a very few minutes so could help with that if needed. Sounds like the game would be a lot of fun, just a matter of what day it's on for me.

I think the theme for the ultra-speed game should be really fast things. Roles include: Speedy Gonzales, Roadrunner, The Flash, Light, and A Speeding Bullet.

When they were played on RM I don't remember linkitis being a big prob. However I do have trouble going to irc - so if it is held on irc count me out.

Some people have issues with chat, and I have played a game like this in thread, and it was annoying iirc. But we will work it out. If only some people can play in one format, we can have more than one game. That might be a good idea anyhow, so we can see what works best.

Actually, we can try several games in all formats, see what works best~ at the ASOIAF wiki, they have informal pick up games often, although they play in an IM thread format. Which required downloading, etc. Not optimum.

MM & I were thinking of making the first one onsite, and seeing how that works.

When I irc from my phone I lose connection a lot, so thread based even with linki is a lot easy than irc for me as well. Or would just have to make sure i am able to play on computer that day.
My husband would probably love an irc mafia.

I'm not certain how, but I can try and help if you like. I'm sure you know, but it'd be ideal to turn it off in only the micro-mafia subforum if possible.

I didn't start playing full games until Quick Mafia died and I couldn't get my fix anywhere Yeah, those games were great. They were also shorter than what's being proposed iirc, but can't remember exactly. I'm all for it, whether it's here or on IRC.
