Even if it is just a 2 person core from what I've seen of the thread so far and trying to exclude my own bias. Other potential core members who are being read as town potentially include Boc, you, maybe Alison. It is early but I see it developing.

I'm not sure how to read this other than like, resigned and disappointed that a towncore is forming.

I feel like thread state-wise, Rando is rand>town. Aside from being funny, I feel like they have made some tonally townie posts. Example: the one where they talk about AtE, not wanting to omgus Alison, then votes Alison. I am not sure at all how Rando approaches the game, but I don't think a scum player there would break the "lmao this is so funny that you're tunnelling me" spiel so quickly. I think these are things scum are more interested in keeping consistent.

I don't have any experience with Rondo's scum game in specific, but I don't get the sense that he'd be particularly interested in keeping things consistent as scum; he seems like a bit of a troll and someone who intentionally does random things for fun, and those seem like part of his personality and would be expressed as either alignment.

Am I misreading your post? It sounds like you're townreading Rondo for being inconsistent, when I think he'd be inconsistent as either alignment.

I think his "AtE" post thing is inconsistent, yeah, but not like troll inconsistent. I think that post opened up a window to Rando's actual thoughts and I don't see why he, as scum, would feel the need to do that or even slip up so quickly with it tbh.

Another reason to make an unpopular town read/town reading a fellow "weirdo" is that it causes waves in the thread tbh!

If Rando is town, I am potentially stealing a misyeet from scum. If Rando is scum, I might make him sweet up to me, lower his guard, and it can prompt other town to figure him out!

I saw it as him throwing out a line of unverifiable bullshit about how he felt when I attacked him coupled by a lack of convincing emotional followup to that claim, nestled in genuine trolling/chaos generation. I also saw that sequence as opening a window to his actual thoughts, but in a way that looked bad for him.

I'll admit I'm not the best Rondo reader in the world, but I struggle to see how talking nonsense followed by contradicting yourself is something that we should townread someone for. I am setting Rondo aside for now though in deference to Mac's (and yours, I guess) read.

Creature has several strings of posts next to each other containing game related stuff. I am still peeved by him ignoring my question, but I have learned the hard way that someone ignoring you doesn't make them scum.

I lean him town because of the post strings (on phone rn so can't quote them).

I had early misgivings on Falcon due to his change of tone from the quali, but I decided to not push there but read what else he'd produce, since it is a weak thing to scum read someone for. The fact that Falcon got pushed by a few peeps made me think that Falcon could be a set-up for D1 misyeet but I haven't really felt any townie vibes from Falcon so..

Marmot is the player has the most scum equity. He isn't taking part of much discussion, is basically just there trying to stay relevant. However now when I know that he has been away because of allergies, it does feel like my conclusion is made on wrong premises. Again, I am comparing qualis, but I wolf read Marmot that game and he was town. He also contributed a lot to discussion. Now I have felt some of Marmot's posts surface townie but lacking in content. Another thing is Marmot complaining about us posting a lot, when he was a high poster in his quali.

I have questions about the authenticity of some of falcon's play. A few examples:

~ I already mentioned his initial reception of Seanzie and I. I don't see a thread of logic that connects our early town leans to a "difference check", and the dichotomy presumed by a difference check is not one I care for.

~ When prompted to talk about his own reads, it's memes and gifs. That's fine in moderation, but I don't think it's being done in moderation. This might relate to the observation Nate made first about the awkward mix of gaming and shitposting.

~ Some gotcha moments that just look fake. I didn't like falcon's motion against Creature, just grabbing four posts Creature made in succession, voting, and doing a gif. On this page his treatment of Mac gives a similar impression. "Why vote out of order in your POE list of four players" -- even if the order was truly misinterpreted, the implication that Mac has to honor some precise order of operations is kinda bunk.

This is a strong moment from Alison. The assertion about falcon's handling of Mac is valid enough, I think, but what I appreciate is that the observation happened at all. There's an inherent layer of solve-mindedness necessary to derive this observation in real time. It's not merely that falcon is defending himself, but also that falcon is doing so with a negative impression of Mac (whether implied or overt) that doesn't seem to have direction. I can understand that perspective, and I think it relates to my previous notion of a "gotcha".
