Day 6: In the Cage

No one has been killed.
The Old Man chanted again:

“Am F#m Em C#m
These all turn to MAJ.
That poor lizard, now alone,
Died trapped in its CAGE”
It is now Day 6. You have 24 hours to lynch someone.

If that was the answer I didn't get it either. I was hoping lizard was a loose interpretation for snake and that along with wizard and minor made me think Harry Potter. Voldemorts snake was killed with Gryffindors sword so that was my answer. Epic fail. So me putting it out there wouldn't have helped.

We've already had the snake questions though. And a lizard isn't snake however loosely interpreted.

I could of gotten the chords but wouldn't of gotten the MAJ part.
Guess that'll teach me to finally stop solely playing piano by ear. Noone has died yet in relation to the triforce of courage so Iunno

I currently want to vote MM, Russ, or MR.

MM and Russ because they both went for the piece of courage and if they're mafia with the key they have significant amounts of bank. Then....

MM has seemed really insincere in his post related to the triforce of courage

MR seemed to pop in out of nowhere to grab the power pinged me hella hard.

As I said earlier I can't read Dom at all. Admittedly, I have yet to read the page before the lynch, but if I were to find him suspicious, it would be because of his one word answers and lack of being rational. While I've come to expect that from civvie Epig, for example, I'm off put. Can a few people please further discribe his usual play style. I don't think I've ever played with civvie Dom.

I will vote after I see timing and landing of other's votes.

I also think my mind has been changed on Russ. I think he is civ.

Made, if you view take my urge to go after the piece personally, I apologize. However, if you truly view it as sudden, I urge you to look back where I explained why I was going after it. I couldn't keep up with the early stages of the game, nor was I all that invested. That's a poor thing for a player to say and I own up to it. I have a vendetta now and I'll either settle it or die trying. Given my track records in games here and civ track records as a whole, likely the latter.

I also strongly urge others to rethink the Russ push, or any vote for me for that matter. :srsnod:

Interesting that you haven't backed off of hounding me even though your primary reason for suspecting me was thinking that I had suddenly suspected Russ (when that never happened).

Liz did something similar earlier in the game with Made, but I corrected her after and the matter was dropped, I think.

Also of note to me: Yesterday was the 2nd day that Eloh and Snow Dog had not voted the same option, also the closest vote yet (in that it was tied, haha). The day before, they also voted differently, in the most unanimous lynch yet. Not immediately telling, but it has stuck in my mind.

Why didn't you bring that up before I directed my attention to you? I'm pretty sure you didn't want the attention, and thought I might forget about it.

You corrected yourself, iirc. This is the first you've said anything since that self-correction. Now it seems you're suspected me for my defense of Russ, vs. your incorrect assumption that I was pursuing him.

Anyway, my thoughts on this post.

I reread MR, partly because I had planned on it, but additionally because you said he pinged you to hell and back Made, and this post sticks out to me. It doesn't fit the vibe of the game at the time at all. My view on Russ has changed, and I think that is defense of Russ is correct, but calculated. There is the hypothesis that Russ is bad in that post, and if he is, he has teammates that are not taking any heat (nor is anyone). Looking back at that time, that's not true at all. Dom had been taking a lot of heat. I was starting to. SD and Elo had been mentioned for their inconsistent voting. Even llama had been looked at. How can someone claim that an unknown baddie team is not taking heat, when they are in fact unknown?

Except if you'd really been rereading me, you could also have pointed out that I'd been defending Russ vehemently well before that post.

Talk about sh*t for case making...

Image

Additionally, nobody else was taking noticeable heat, and I was not the only one to posit that thought (Russ did as well). There were suspicions, but nobody can deny the train-esque pattern of mob mentality that was going on with the important things: votes. I've only stepped up to the plate here because it started to get too ridiculous with the Sabie lynch, and lo and behold, I'm taking heat for speaking my mind.

Mister Rearranger wrote: Russ is all over the place this time, so I'll need to take a detailed look at him as well. He could certainly be a certain baddie role, I suppose. But I think the "I'm bad so I'll vehemently defend a civvie that everyone else suspects" is an incredibly ballsy and unnecessary move when none of the baddies had drawn any heat.
In fact, the points in my post were so calculated and opportunistic that I posted them a full day before!

I'm just that good, I guess.

I defend lost causes all the time, regardless of allignment if I feel it's obvious someone is bad/good. However, that does cater to the kinda of game play. I'd argue it helps Russ...
wait I'm lost. the "He's bad, none of his team is taking heat," Part. I'm not sure that I believe that baddies haven't come close to getting lynched.

Lol, sorry Made. :D

Up until yesterday though, I don't believe any baddies have come close to getting lynched. The lynches have been by comfortable enough margins, imo.

The closest two before that were Llama 2 votes behind Hedge on D2 and yourself 2 votes behind Boogs on D3.

Do you believe either of you are bad then?

You have? Well here's this post.

Mister Rearranger wrote:Russ is all over the place this time, so I'll need to take a detailed look at him as well. He could certainly be a certain baddie role, I suppose. But I think the "I'm bad so I'll vehemently defend a civvie that everyone else suspects" is an incredibly ballsy and unnecessary move when none of the baddies had drawn any heat.
There were three posts in between that post and this post. (the one I mentioned)
Mister Rearranger wrote:Nobody is offering an explanation as to why Russ would do what everyone thinks he's done?

Like, it seriously doesn't make sense to me from a gameplay angle. He's bad, none of his team is taking heat (nobody else was taking heat at all, really, save his and my thoughts about Splints), but he goes out of his way to solely defend the civvie who is bound to be lynched anyways? I've known Russ to be a shifty baddie before, but not a foolish one.
In those three posts, there was zero mention of Russti. I don't see this 'vehement' defense of Russti before that first post as you've suggested. I even looked before the supposition that he could be bad, but there was no defense made there either.

Btw, what did you mean by "he could certainly be a certain baddie role"? I'm pretty sure that's on Epi's list of 'baddie behaviors'.

So since I'm out of town, no time for a case. However, I think Elo needs to be given a much closer look. Mainly because of her really really bad voting record. If anyone cares to look into that I appreciate it, and it's where my vote is going for today.

Also MM, thanks for reconsidering on me

I had a quick back-and-forth with Russ early on, but I think that was when I felt more comfortable with him. It's possible I didn't bring it up then in the thread, of course. You make 3 posts sounds like a short gap when, as I already noted, that was within a calendar day. I've already exceeded that this evening, so naturally this will seem a bit disproportionate to anyone joining this pursuit in progress. If you want to keep playing semantics, feel free to go down that route, as fruitless as it is. Were SVS still here, I think she could attest to lynching a civ me based on a combination of my hyperbole and her stubbornness before. :p

Certainly not Hedge...

Made, I had pegged as civ. I think I still do. This is just based on my experience in chat with him during a previous game. I think he might be throwing game theories out there in the thread because he has no outlet to do so in chat? Admittedly, a very weak read of him.

Llama, I haven't heard much from recently. He gunned for Sabie unrelentingly, but that has no indication of alignment to me.

Llama is typically one of the highest volume posters, but has dropped off the table. He did say he is busy during voting season, maybe that's why? Otherwise, his vote for Dom for his peculiar playstyle is no longer justifiable.

I think ninja blooper typically plays like this. Posts infrequently, but does so in big walls of text.

I know I have a bad voting record. I was just thinking (at the end of the last day) that I need to stop listening to the "crowd" but it is difficult when I still feel like everyone is playing so civ-like. I have not been in a game where its Day 6 and still I have no great suspicions. It is odd. My biggest suspicion is Russ, but still not crazy convinced.

It's still distracting from the pursuit of actual baddies. I didn't say you're distracting! :hugs:

I don't know. I do feel this came out of nowhere and it makes me wonder whether the suspicion was truly provoked by my Russ posts or if I was onto something else by pushing against a Russ lynch. All that teasing back-and-forth with zeek (Dom too, I think) on D0/1 gave me pause too. It's the kind of thing I would do to build a favorable and trusting rapport early on, or at least confuse some people.

I...did not get that for the riddle answer. But I did have a music theory answer :D (don't get too excited - I got frustrated and sent something ridiculous when I ran out of time earlier). You win some, you lose some. I feel inadequate as a musician and a human being, though.

No offense taken, good sir! I post like I like to converse in real life (more listening, longer conversation, little to no small talk). However, like you, I do not criticize others for posting in short spurts or long bits of terse pieces (and they're often easier to read, I hate to admit :P). To each his/her own.

I can't believe I've stayed up this late without a nap. Time to sleep. I'll think/read/talk more in the morning.

Elections are over, so I can't really se that as an excuse anymore. :)

There are a couple of reasons why my posts have dropped off.
1. November is National Novel Writing Month. When I get home from work, I pretty much write and fall asleep. I am tired.
2. I am discouraged. I have been wrong about everyone this game, and I am losing confidence in my ability to read people. I thought I would back off a little and see what other people have to say.

Tomorrow is Saturday. I will be more active then.

I think we need to lynch Russ, Llama and you.

This is the problem I am having. I don't know anyone and I can't read anyone. I actually had time to go back and read through the thread tonight and had every intention of making a case but it seemed like suspicions I would have on one page would be reversed by a page or two later. I know I'm as flip-floppy as I've accused others of being and I hate that.

I had made some notes on someone as suspish, but I'm not even confident in that enough to name them because I don't want to keep throwing a different name out every day which it seems is all I've been doing. :(
