Re: Lawyers, Guns and Money- [DAY 3]
Nah, I’m not really a cocky wolf, I’m more earnest, although I do try to replicate my civ meta as best I can. That’s why I told sabi yesterday they weren’t going to get me elimmed. I don’t think a single one of my ogs would genuinely consider elimming me right now. The answer is in my signature.lucy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 4:35 pmi have no doubt you're a particularly strong wolf, but i haven't played with you before so i'm mostly going in blind with youGolden wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 4:30 pm There’s best practice in dentistry.
In mafia there is no best practice. There’s just people who think their way is best and people who have seen an abundance of styles work well and realise that you can’t science the game into an algorithm.
The reason I’m on a five game win streak as a deepwolf is that too many people think like you. I can beat ‘best practice’ every time but I’m fucked if I think I can beat SVSs gut.
are you a cocky wolf btw?
and there is no best practice, no absolute best method, everything works to better or worse degrees. i figure my methodology works similarly well to the methodology and time which you come from
do you think new meta is inherently worse/better/neutral and ultimately depends on the practitioner?
And yeah I think that’s it. Different methodologies work great, but the best methodology is the one that works best for the individual. Our brains are all different.

Re: Lawyers, Guns and Money- [DAY 3]
I don’t tend to divide people into good/bad at mafia. I probably made that mistake early on in my career and didn’t recognise a broad enough range of skills. I reckon I got beaten by some people I underestimated.
I trust your self-reads ie I believe you when you say you have good records at cold reading and hunting.

I think you're a strong player. It would certainly take more than 1/2 a game for me to get a feel for your overall style. I like that you're active, it makes the game more fun.

I think it would have played out mostly the same. I don’t think we gained a lot from a Wilgy elimination.Seanzie wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 4:22 pmHow do you think D2 would have played out if we had a no-elim D1?fingersplints wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 2:24 pm I mean I get that info is better, but I don’t think I’d ever choose “info for the thread” over “me”
It isn't just info. Also keeping the game moving forward.

100 thousand million percent lol.
Lucy and I are very alike, I think. The good thing is I think I’ll tend to have a good solving relationship with Lucy. The bad news is she’ll be able to pocket me like a certain Futurama robot.

Because regardless of your alignment you are trying and actively participating. I don't think one can accurately get a feel for a person's playstyle or personality in just a few short days od gameplay.

I don't understand a lot of the things you've said and if I had to answer right now I'd say wolf but it's very much close to neutral honestly, I agree and disagree with a lot of your posts. So you're kinda 'I've got my eye on you, but carry on' for me.

If that would stop me from getting about 2 jury summons a season from my hometown that I don’t currently reside in, I’m in support of this initiativeGolden wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 4:07 pmI’m a public lawyer, currently in the child protection sector, previously in the justice sector. But now im also a manager with portfolio responsibilities and no time to do actual research (I still do some).
I know a decent amount about jury reform and, yes, this is my idea but the problem is abolition of juries is quite unpopular lol.

I feel like Lucy shouldn’t need reminding as she spent a majority of her time on D1 pressing your family on that point, and she has a photographic memory to boot
I do question what these questions are hoping to accomplish for her solve however

People, in general, make the thread more fun and the game more solvable by being strong actively players. I haven't played with you long enough to really categorize you, if that's what you're asking.
I'd like to be done with this topic now, k?

Except I don’t know you are v. “Stronger player” is subjective and changes from game to game. I don’t have a ton of opinion on peoples play from games I mod. I am paying attention to those for problems.

Re: Lawyers, Guns and Money- [DAY 3]
Awesome, last night I was irritated, and decided to walk away and go shopping today instead. On a Sunday, a few weeks before Christmas. On Long Island, home of entitled assholes who all have road rage. Except in December, when they have even more road rage and a pair of stuffed antlers on their grille.
And after reading back some, maybe I made the right decision. Maybe Sabi is haunting me with the ghost of saltiness and irritation past. I wouldn't blame them if they were.
@Golden yesterday you and I convinced ourselves that a civ was bad and miselimmed them. We convinced ourselves of that because we thought they were steering the thread. Please don't tell me who to suspect, and that "someone else" is going to take care of it. Maybe they're not. Maybe Bea is the cop. Maybe the cop checked only civs. I don't want to rely on the cop, I want to rely on me. Also, I almost feel like you kind of tried to shame me a bit for suspecting who I suspect. Please don't do that. You know I loathe being steered.
But I am going to take your words under advisement and not deal with that today. I want no part of hijacking this thread. So, for today, as far as I'm concerned that person doesn't exist and I'm not planning on engaging in that suspicion.
I have to catch up and also haven't looked at my notifications, just came in and skimmed the thread. Gotta get dinner started and will be back.
What's the case on Mata? Other than cagey and quiet? Or is that the case?
@bea I'll miss you, but also totally understand. The world of corporate training never sleeps

Re: Lawyers, Guns and Money- [DAY 3]
I want to change my vote because I'd like to let her get going (or see that she fails to do so) before we elim her but I've got nothing else right now other than sheeping and I'm not about to sheep in my first game, the first vote was embarrassing enough. My vote on her was 'she's not being as loud or perceptive as people say she should be, maybe she's wolf'.
