Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
That's everything updated correctly now. I had to update more then half the extensions we use, so if you notice any acting in ways they didn't used to, let me know. I kept backups of all the previous versions, so if it's especially bad I'll just revert, if not, I'll look at fixes in the newer version.

Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
Besides the mention tags? More up-to-date versions of: header banner, post numbers, who posted that, and... one more I can't recall off the top of my head. I can't imagine any of those resulted in any changes that should be overly noticeable, it's mostly just future-proofing so they'll still work when the phpbb version is updated.Sloonei wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 8:49 pmWhat else did you clean up today?boo wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 7:26 pm That's everything updated correctly now. Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
As... someone who's recently come out, I'm realizing that perhaps our gender / pronouns options here while at least better than they could be are... certainly less than ideal.
Would it be possible to change the gender section to something open-ended, or perhaps provide a much more exhaustive list of options similar to the ones available on MU? One thing that might be particularly helpful is a combination option, like she/her + they/them.
Thanks!

I can look into that. I believe making it so those are blanks people can enter their own answers into rather than a drop-down selection should be doable.

That's been changed, so it's a textbox that lets people put in what they want rather then having presets to choose from. It did require deleting what was there, so everyone will need to go into their profile and change it.

Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
I feel like a big whiner every time I ask for an improvement because Boo has done such a great job fixing everything lately. It's really appreciated.
So with the announcement of the preferred pronoun stuff, I just wanted to point out that it isn't showing on mobile.
Basically all of this is missing on mobile to keep things looking cleaner/smaller.

I'd suggest the "isolate posts by" link and the preferred pronouns be added to the mobile interface. Depending on how the coding is, it might not even increase the size of the post headers since there's currently a bit of blank space to the right of the username on mobile.
Thanks!

Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
My mobile display has had all of that for the last few weeks, but boo did not take credit for that fix. It seems to have just happened on its own. I wish I knew what caused some of us to have it and some us to not have it. But I do not.

Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
Yea, it's just because phpbb styles are all required to be responsive now. The exact nature of how that will display on mobile/tablet will depend on the device, and can change based on updates they get. If I remove the coding that makes the style responsive, it would break the extensions that are used, as those all rely on being part of a responsive style. So no great way I can think of to change it.

The only slight difference between mobile and desktop for me now is that every once in a while on mobile the top/bottom arrows will be displayed too low on the page so that they’re inaccessible. It is not a big enough deal to require a solution.

MU has a toy that I’m jealous of: bookmarks. You can mark posts in thread and leave notes for yourself, add color coded highlights, etc.
Would that be an easy addition?

I have sincerely dreamed about being a teacher and having my students play mafia as an exercise of some sort. Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
Ok, I've got one. When I use the new multiquote feature, it works like a dream, BUT, after I hit "Quote (5)" or whatever, and make my long post, the "Reply with selected quotes" popup still appears. Ideally, it should disappear after the button is pushed, right? I have to press the trash can icon to get rid of it.
And another "out there" idea that may have been discussed before already... a simple Like button for posts?

Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
I've been looking since I saw that on MU, but nothing so far. There are site-wide notes available (top menu drop down, above board index), but that just isn't the same.
It should, yea. Just a weird current quirk of the extension. It isn't a finished one though, and AFAIK, the author is going to make that change themself, so I'm waiting for it instead of digging into looking to do that myself.Long Con wrote: ↑Sat Jun 20, 2020 12:44 am Ok, I've got one. I haven't seen anyone discuss wanting a like button before, but yes, that I can do. The one I've seen and would add currently doesn't have a functioning link to access the download, but there's a few others that might work, so I'll add one now and we can test it out.

Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
I'd advocate against having "Like" buttons enabled during actual mafia games. Like it's a silly detail that shouldn't be part of the game. MU has a "Thank" button on posts on the forum in general but it is disabled in games.

Re: Features & Improvements Suggestion Box
It's sort of hard to not make them part of the game because people will read into anything lol. But if people really want a like button, I suppose game moderators could set their own rules for that kinda stuff if they wanted, right?
Personally I don't think dead players especially in a game should be allowed to like posts as they have likely been spoiled, but that's just my 2 cents

I think we'd need to consider the notion of Likes as a staff, because they add an element to games that some won't care for. It depends upon how easy it is to turn them off in certain forums/at certain times.

I only didn't say something earlier because I thought it was obvious that a "Like" style button would be disruptive. but in case it needs to be said, a "Like" button would be disruptive. I mean, if that's what we're going for I'd be totally down, but yeah.

Just a heads up, the we_universal style may conflict with (at least) multiquotes in some browsers. I'll leave it turned on for now, but if you prefer a lighter style over the default black, prosilver or prosilver SE should both have the same functionality as dark with the various extensions, so may be a better choice for a stable experience with the site

I have been thinking about that annotated post thing, and it would be so delicious. Even just... annotating every post with a green or red word spot decision of how you feel about it, then going back after days and tallying... wow. And that's, like, only the simplest way to use it.

Is there something out there that could be added to the polls, that produces a thread-friendly summary of the poll? Right now, we usually just copy and paste the poll in the thread, which is never all that good-looking.
