Re: [DAY 1] Courage the Cowardly Dog Mafia
Vomps' post about civs not knowing things is pretty on point if only a little obvious.
Not sure how I feel about Vomps discussing scumhunting theory.

In a well-balanced game randomization is almost always the best strategy, especially on day one.Lunalee wrote: ↑Tue Jun 19, 2018 11:02 am...so you're saying I should just vote for myself? No.

Well up until this post yeah, now I gotta stop so its not a scum tell.Long Con wrote: ↑Tue Jun 19, 2018 11:05 amHow did you come to believe #1? I suggested day 1 we look at the people who posted about their scary experience a bit closer for two reasons.
1. Mafia tend to read the rules more imo
2. If just one mafia member read the rules they'd post it in BTSC and the teammates would do it.
Nobody else seemed to think it was a good idea, so I'm keeping it in my back pocket until we get more flips and see if I'm right.![]()
Thanks for pointing it out though!

The idea behind it is that I'm more tactical as scum and wanna look civvie so I read the rules since I care more about looking high speed/sup town.
Now Ik not everyone is like that and some civs read the rules but I've not read the rules as a civ since like my first few games here.

Re: [DAY 1] Courage the Cowardly Dog Mafia
Which fun fact I was actually mafia my first game here and read the rules. :rip

Re: [DAY 1] Courage the Cowardly Dog Mafia
I'll take everyone's word on it, since it appears people seem to be in agreement that it's NAI and just hope I'm right end game so i can brag. If I'm wrong though we'll pretend this never happened.

Hm, I've not thought of that before, but it does make sense. I don't think anyone can have a good read on day 1. Re: [DAY 1] Courage the Cowardly Dog Mafia
Thanks. I usually focus on building a towncircle i believe in and try to PoE (Process of Elimination) my way to victory and work together with my townreads. Obviously I try my best to not have any easy to find differences between my town and scum game, but in the past I've been more likely to lose steam in the later stages of a game when I'm scum even if it can happen as town aswell depending on the type of game/irl cirscumstances.

Thoughts on Sig: I thought his comment early d1 saying "OKAY no more shit posting time to get serious!" struck me as a little awkward considering how the thread looked at the time. And if he actually thought there was something more productive to do than shitposting, why not just go do it instead of announcing "hey guys im gonna go be towny and solve now". Seemed like it might've been for show.
But then i think the way he seemed disappointed about no one picking up on his first-post-strategy felt like he genuinely thought he was onto something good and then felt a bit let down when people didn't believe in it. This would be faked emotion if he was scum and knew all alignments and I don't feel like it was fake. So I think that part is far more towny than the suspicious thing is scummy so Sig is my first townread.
my only tiny suspicion so far is Colin.

Also, to add onto this. I'd guess the same people who might not read the rules are probably the same kind of people that might not check into BTSC until later.Dragon D. Luffy wrote: ↑Tue Jun 19, 2018 11:02 amI don't have a problem with the fact it's punishing people who read rules but there is a big chance mafia didn't bother to mention this in the chat. Some mafias don't even fully join BTSC before Day 0 ends. So it's not really concusive.
Re: [DAY 1] Courage the Cowardly Dog Mafia
Okay, assuming you have something going here sig, the only two people who didn't post a story on day 0 was lapluie and Marmot. And lapluie hasn't even posted in game yet. So you're only town-firming two people by making your assumption.

I don't approve random voting d1 at all. Where people push and for what reasons are one of the top things we can use the coming days. We'll have less info day 2, and less intresting conversations, which will lead to less info d3 etc etc.
Let's just make reads the best we can imo.
I see the points of it, but i don't think the info-loss coming days is worth the slight increase of chance to lynch scum today but randomizing.

Re: [DAY 1] Courage the Cowardly Dog Mafia
Well, I felt that sig’s idea was not that good and it could have been an attempt at making a “supertown” move. Your assessment of him in the 2nd graf there persuaded me though. I suppose I wanted to see if my suspicions held up; as in, if others agreed or disagreed with good logic.Fractal wrote: ↑Tue Jun 19, 2018 12:11 pmCan you go into a bit which kinds of answer from people would make you think Sig's thing was scummy and which answers would make you think it was not?ColinIsCool wrote: ↑Tue Jun 19, 2018 12:01 pmVery incisive. I did want to see what other people thought of sig’s thing but mostly because I couldn’t decide whether it made him look scummy or not for the exact reasons you outline. Good stuff.Fractal wrote: ↑Tue Jun 19, 2018 11:45 am Thoughts on Sig: I thought his comment early d1 saying "OKAY no more shit posting time to get serious!" struck me as a little awkward considering how the thread looked at the time.
This question i could see as him prodding around and seeing what others stances on sig's theory was before he gave his own so he could adapt his own stance based on what would benefit him. It's really thin though.ColinIsCool wrote: ↑Tue Jun 19, 2018 8:39 am Sig has been probably the most vocal player in the thread so far. What do people think of his ideas?

Let's just wait and see if I actually want to though. Kind of a whimsical impulse but who knows
