Ok so Enders role mechanically doesnt make sense to be mafia Golden because

1) its incredibly pro town

What we know is:

He gave a gun to scotty, scotty killed Dennis. PoE kill yes, but the whole PoE was town.

He specifically made sure Scotty knew where it came from/got a signpost that he could claim to down in the thread. Scotty got to use the gun

He gave a gun to Wilgy, Wilgy killed Radishes in a PoE that was stacked with wolves
He gave a suicide vest to Michelle, killing Michelle and no one else in a PoE that was ??? re wolves.
He gave Porscha a non-kill power.

All in all, the outcome of Ender's ability has been pro town, but.

What we don't know is

Is Ender honest about not knowing what he's giving? (t!Ender is being honest. w!Ender is lying).
What Ender's role actually IS (especially given Ender's claim that he doesn't know what he's giving).

Let's imagine a world where Ender is wolf and knows exactly what he's giving, humour me.

1) First gun, he gives to someone who he trusts is likely to shoot into a PoE full of town. And Dennis dies, but Ender is able to begin a campaign for town cred with "hey Scotty, what did I give you?"
2) Second gun, he gives to someone who is known for his unpredictable play, and who could easily and did go for the hero shot. There's a world where that shot takes out Mac or me or something like that.
3) Third gun, he gives to someone else who is known for his unpredictable play, and who could easily go for the hero shot. Wilgy, instead, plays it safe.
4) So Ender goes instead for suicide vest, giving it to a townie who then dies wearing it.
5) And then he gives something that isn't kill power.

Also btw I guess the kills must be used the same night since the guns operated on nights one two and three, but (4) and (5) waited until the next day.

In a world where Ender is wolf, he can choose what he gives, and he's chosen to give guns to people he thinks will shoot town, maybe even towncore. It's a risk, but it's a very high percentage risk to take for town cred.

But as the numbers shift, the gifts become more conservative.

The ability could easily also be used to give a gun to a teammate (he didn't, and that's clean play as wolf or town, but there's inherently that ability involved) - enabling wolves to claim they are hero-shooting and shoot outside PoE without a tonne of risk to Ender himself.

I don't think the role is *inherently* pro town in the event Ender is wolf, particularly because I think in that scenario he knows more.

I saw your town core post. nut and mich are fine candidates. Urist's insistence that Rondo is Rask's partner if Rask flips scum didn't vibe with me but the rest of his posting has been fine - I historically have scumread Urist's posting regardless of alignment so it's probably a good sign that I've found him unobjectionable apart from that since it means he's townier than usual.

I would add lucy to the town core. Rask is fine but not towncore worthy. Cape is kinda sus but only a couple people seem interested at all in looking at him so I might vote there in a bit.

I think Party Crasher has been townie on play but I kinda think their role is more likely to be mafia given the context. I am awful at hostreading though so they're probably just town

I browsed some of Dennis's ISO.

Dennis doesn't feel like Dennis from Cartomancy (his only scum game), where I think he did play with a lot of snark and confidence, but often strayed towards posts that didn't offer much content.

He is making reads (NAI), but he's also engaging in extended interactions and offering some clarity in his thought process which I think is rand!v. Golden mentioned in P#2084 that he finds players who excuse themselves from solving early in this game due to the volume to be mildly scummy, but even though Dennis made that excuse, he isn't even doing that, and that was true as of the time Golden made that comment.

It is possible that w!Dennis realizes that the way he played in Cartomancy would be hard to replicate again given it would just be hard to get away with relying purely on snark again, but I don't think this is it.

I have decided to trust Marmot d1 this game and this is a good post, he has done the work and linked some posts. So I will agree with Marmot for now. Plus its starting to feel like Dennis is a sacraficial 'I dunno fuck it vote him' lamb for today. it feels like No one is showing their work just saying dennis bad and voting (Apart from a few people)

There seems to be no really coherent strategy to this day. The top posters are all players who aren't post count polarised so I can't base any read on that. The only empirical thing is probably that Porscha 2 posting is >rand mafia for her. Seanzie and Rondo not tilting me already might be indicative of them not being town maybe I guess? Lily and Neon seem okay? On the little I've read I would guess Sabi is more likely in their wolf meta? Lots of the scum solving going on just rings hollow or rand at best and I don't really have the energy to figure out much.

Lots of people claim their roles early when they feel under pressure which Kate clearly did. Vanilla is a role that is not easily disproven in the way that a role with a more active component might be. But beyond that it's just an unlikely role to exist in the game, as previous GOCs have been role madness and nanook is not a host that is likely to make a game more mountainous.

When deciding who yo give stuff each night, who else did you consider and why’d you decide against them?

Uh. N1 I tossed up between Dennis/Scotty/I forget who my third was but they died early too. Might've been IAWY? I didn't note it down anywhere.

Anyway I picked Scotty cause less likely to have been hit by other affects.

N2 I picked Wilgy because strongest townread that was least likely to be killed, and if my ability changed then Wilgy was the one most POE'd of my towncore so would help town re-eval. There was never any doubt about this choice.

N3 I tossed up a few things. Dizzy was in contention but I wasn't confident he was town and my ability to believe Dizzy town was draining away so I picked Michelle who I was 99.9% sure was town and who generally has a strong game read, because I believed I was giving guns. I also thought about giving it to Mac but I was pretty sure he was dead or dying soon.

N4 I went through most players. I had Rondo in selection for a while but decided to go for Porscha as I felt it more relevant to my worldview.

D2 part way through you swapped to lock townreading me because "Wolf Ender doesn't get himself in this position."

Either you've got a tenuous grasp on events of this game that YOU WERE INVOLVED IN or you're just trying to twist things to make me feel/seem bad knowing that most people aren't going to care enough to comb through 1k posts to find what you're talking about.

ahhh thats when it happened. Its been over a week since then and over 1000 posts (of my own) so you cant expect me to keep them straight when I dont really care at this point. as I said Golden / Wilgy / Sloonie have this I am a supporting cast member now

Can anyone give me a compelling argument for why the answer here is not just guillo?

Yeah I dont wanna find the quotes but when mac claimed his role, guillo immediately gunned for him and said "you're lying cuz that's my role" but then when we all realized there were multiples of some of the roles in the game, guillo backed off. That's the only thing really giving him a pro on my pros and cons list, but I guess I do give him some points for playing relatively casually with less agenda than his normal self which I assume would be more likely if he was town

Would w!guillo, assuming the same ability, be likely to think Mac was anti-town and willing to Thunderdome?
