Neglecting? I think he is making bullshit arguments. I don't know if that counts as neglect. I have a hard time believing 3J is believing the stuff he is writing.Quin wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2018 4:38 amI understand, but if her low activity isn't suspicious, there's still something in disappearing off the face of the earth that's inherently noteworthy. She did say that she wasn't here because of moving and getting internet set up, so I no longer think it's a worthwhile argument to be made, but that's in hindsight. I don't blame anyone for making the point. Earlier I said that lapluie is using her struggle to get involved in the game as a crutch. What do you think about that?Epignosis wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2018 4:39 pm Dear Quin,
I commented on lapluie already, that MK had a substantially lower rate of posts than this one, and that she had civilian BTSC in MK, which, in my experience, encourages activity.
I understand that lazy cases can be right. When I say lazy, I mean that there was little thought put into the accusation. For example, this game will eclipse Mortal Kombat's post count by Day 3. It shouldn't take much to consider that keeping up with 424 posts per phase is easier than keeping up with 1,160 posts per phase.
So when I say 3J is being "lazy," I mean it looks like he's putting a lot of effort into suspecting people, but so many of his points can be dismissed with easy counterarguments. And he's gunning for what I consider to be lynches hardly anybody is going to argue against. I find that problematic.
I'll ask again too, do you think 3J is neglecting to make thoughtful arguments?

Objectively foolish? On what grounds?JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2018 5:54 pmThe problem with your mindset is here.
I understand it; I don't fault you for it; it's okay.
I didn't see a single juicy case on Days 1 or 2. The juiciest case I felt existed was my own case on Dr. White, until it was no longer juicy. I maintain that Day 2 was barely better than an extension of Day 2. No lynches are garbage unless they provide conclusive alignment intelligence on the player who didn't die. Y'all can exchange your juicy cases as much as you like, but I think they've been crap. I am now being subject to one of them.
Civilians are bad at this.
This game has been, until recently as I have faded to the background and dunya was replaced, a hurricane. Mafia members can't keep up as easily with a hurricane as civilians. So lynch a slacker. I say it every game these days when they move anywhere near this quickly. Nobody listens to me. I've nearly always been right. Mortal Kombat was an arguable exception, though the civilians were blind in the end of that one to some obvious tells anyway. Because they're bad at this.
Easy targets? You're damned right. That means nothing about alignment. Lynching me instead is objectively foolish under these conditions when such a long game is ahead of us for various other possibilities to show themselves (I manage to clear myself as I often seem to, the mafia kill me for you, or a mafia flip qualifies reads on me beyond terrible meta reads which have no bearing on reality). If I had more fire, I might argue it harder. I don't.
Later in the phase I'll give more useful reads. I'm letting this day phase develop mostly without me.
Why are you objectively preferable for getting the civilians the win than anybody else? What does the long game have to do with it?
Why can't I judge you on the basis of what you have done?
Your cases are weak.
Your cases are against easy-to-lynch people.
Your case against me was half-hearted and looked like a pointless exercise.
Your criticism of my exercise was not genuine (you said it had more than one potential uses, and yet you, on your own, never talked about those- instead you criticized mine).
Also, I am not interested in a single emotional plea you have made. Not one.

- This makes me suspicious of Epi. He was one of the main instigators of this. He switched a lot. And he had some sort of theory on DDL and Dr. White but then not really sticking to it.
- JJJ was also constantly switching around to low hanging fruit, people who have few posts which can be related to anything (such as this thread having 85 pages now )
- nutella remains her opportunistic self and follows whatever vote seems fashionable.
My theory on DDL and who now?

On Day 1, which is where we still are essentially, I don't object to lynching someone with a lack of civilian credit. A lot of people who have said suspicious things have also said things I think look good.
The more posts you have, the more opportunities you have to say something that someone else won't like. Oh well.
Unless someone is a glaring, awful look, I am not inclined to lynch an active player if I can see any civilian light when there's a less active player (especially in a busy-ass game where I'd expect mafia to fall behind more than civilians) who can be lynched instead. Is it easy? Sure. Is it safe? Sure. Is it a valid philosophy which I have lived by in many civilian games throughout my long Mafia life? Yeah.
We are not at Day 1. You keep saying that. We're at Day 2 and every civilian in this game got the chance to use a power. Every single one. I made sure that happened.
So you can talk about how there's no objective information if you want to. Every civilian got a shot.
That you should call this Day 1 Part 2 is bogus. It's Day 2. Mafia killed. Civilians got their actions in.

JJJ is going for easy lynches- people who haven't been around, people like lapuie who he said was active MK (even though she had civilian BTSC and the game wasn't 81 pages by Day 2). I do not get the sense he's digging. He's going for easy lynches.

I think mafia tried to fake some truthfulness.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 1:30 amI got close to nothing out of it. It wasn't my thing. If it had been my thing and something I was personally invested in overseeing, I may have prodded specific people about their specific reads as they pertained to their don choices -- similar to the general question you asked, but pointed at specific names, incessantly, and constantly. I don't think the relationship need exist that you imply (I think you imply?), but it's a question which can still produce interesting answers.
As you portrayed it, whether you intended it or not, the result was a waning of the trust enjoyed by dunya and I, and essentially no effect to people who had civilian reads on us. If the latter are the point of contention, then the former shouldn't have become the focus of the discussion.
To be frank, I think the value of the exercise was best seen during it, and the "results" were about as meaningful as gun-to-head reads exercise results would be on Day 0.

JJJ's pets so far:
Quin
Iron Dwarf
Dr. White
lapluie
Somebody tell me he isn't going for easy, early lynches.

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Day 2]
I mean, JJJ was in Mortal Kombat, eventually found out that lapluie had civilian BTSC, this game is on page 81 on Day 2, and he suspects her for not keeping up?
What the hell?

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Day 2]
I also want to fuck up JJJ's case on lapluie (who also, wasn't mentioned by anyone other than Marmot):
lapluie had civilian BTSC in Mortal Kombat. It is much easier to stay invested in a game when you have BTSC.
In addition, Mortal Kombat had 106 pages of posts in NINE phases including endgame discussion.
This is at 81 pages on Day 2.
Lapluie is behind, and I think this is another case of JJJ gunning for an easy lynch.

I voted for JJJ after a moment of intensity, and rundontwalk thinks I completely abandoned my entire theory, and that he is forcing me to go back to my theory.
Unreal. Amusing, but unreal.

ffsJaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 1:13 amVery little. I said I would draft dunya and I didn't suspect her at all. I said I would draft you, Mr. 3rd Place, and until now I haven't asked significant questions.Epignosis wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 1:11 am I asked a question that nobody has answered.
You and dunya got the top two draft picks.
Other than me, nobody has expressed a lick of suspicion of either of you (except Dr Wilgy).
What does that tell you about the people who said they would draft you or dunya?
Draft choices and thread-borne suspicions do need to be related. Why should they be?
You said my exercise had applications. What did you get out of it?

Re: Fire Emblem Draft Mafia [Day 2]
That's a poor summary of what my exercise did, and does not accurately summarize what I drew from it.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 1:02 am I'll build a basic case on Epignosis:
His exercise had potential, but in the end was not used to its potential. The primary message still ended up surrounding the players who were named the most frequently. This is meaningless given the conditions of the choices are very different for X civilian responding to Epignosis in the game thread and Y mafia don responding to Jack behind the scenes. His own picks were fake. dunya said hers probably weren't representative of what she'd really do. I doubt my picks are either. With more time to think about it -- clearly as would be possible and prudent in the real scenario -- the choices are more strategic and nuanced. I suspect this applies to numerous civilians.
The don, whoever it is, could have chosen literally anyone. There's no good reason to clear people based on this premise, and there's no good reason to suspect people based on this premise. He didn't follow up much at all on the angle that had potential -- demanding reasons for civilians on drafted players from the drafters.
His role ability was to prevent a lynch. I believe this. He said himself that he thought he was threatened and used it early given that he might not have time to use it later. This leaves room for him to have saved himself, at least by intention, as a mafioso. The civilian possibility is as real as the mafia possibility, but it's a bad reason to give him credit.
He is now shitting in my Corn Flakes for going after "easy targets" all the while casting suspicion upon the guy who says whatever the hell he wants in every post. RDW makes himself an easy target by design, and it wouldn't be the first time I've seen a mafioso try to capitalize on that. It was a common mistake in RYM games. Anyone who wants to cast suspicion on RDW wouldn't struggle to find ways of doing so in his posts, because his posts are all over the place. They are always all over the place.
Additionally, some people keep talking like my exercise is over simply because I extracted some things from it they don't like. It's not.
