Re: RED vs. BLUE: Endgame
Civilians win more in my games than mafia do.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:I think the main reason I usually prefer simpler games is that I can be more confident that they're balanced. I tend to play Mafia so dang hard that it's ideal to feel like it's worthwhile, and that all that effort has at least a decent chance of helping my team win the game.
I think that generally speaking the more complex a game is, the less balanced it is. There are exceptions of course. I think complexity tends to work against town though and in role madness games (open or closed setups) I always have less faith that what I am doing really matters that much.
I also probably just have a general preference for the core investigation/deception concept of Mafia over games more reliant upon night actions and such. To each their own.

Re: RED vs. BLUE: Day 4
I was trying to defend reywaS precisely so that the serial killer would leave me alone.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:I am content to act on the assumption that the serial killer killed Epignosis with the intention of removing a townie. Credit to Epignosis to looking the part (perhaps a little too well). With this in mind, I think the kill would be less likely to come from someone who was in good standing with Epi. This would be a decent look for Golden 2.0 -- he and Epi had their disagreements, but it never took the form of Epi suspecting Golden. I might even say that from the perspective of a SK Golden, he'd have had Epi pocketed. I don't believe Epi ever cast meaningful suspicion upon Sloonei either -- just an isolated
about his Day 1 CFDing.
I can't remember off-hand what Epi's take was on MM and Becquin. I'll have to look.

That wasn't my intention. I wanted to spar with Scotty some and vote for him for a while, and I never expected his lynch to take off the way that it did. But he flat out contradicted himself, and I didn't feel like making up a reason to vote somebody else. His goofing up, like thinking the day had ended when there was another 24 hours, also didn't help.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:Good then. So much for "I don't bus team mates".
But it was good fun preemptively pissing on process of elimination.

See how far that policy gets you.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:Note to self: when Epignosis can't let it go even when he has to make absurd arguments, lynch him.

It's just- honestly, epi, the idea that you 'win' by losing the game but calling out Jay's methods are stupid.
Are you going to change Jay's methods? No.
If Jay's methods were right, would it change your mind about it? No, you'd just say Jay was lucky.
Your suspicion of Jay is literally about nothing but your own ego. But at least Jay is evaluating everyone in the game. From my perspective, Jay being wrong about people while actually trying to win the game is a far superior effort to you being wrong about Jay and doing literally nothing else.
If Jay is bad, you get all the congrats from me. If Jay is not bad, should I call it a win that I can call out how wrong you are? I don't think so. I don't get any satisfaction out of bragging about you being wrong. There is no win there...
I fucking caught Mafia DAY ONE. How often does that happen?
What did he do? Wave his hands and ask us to lynch someone else.
