Re: U-Pick Mafia Vol 1 - Day 6

Okay, quick question. So, the Absolute Units aren't a scum team? Are they an indie team? Should we try to be lynching them? Should we analyze Dunya's posts to figure out who they are?

I have no idea how to feel about them, and I feel like I missed some key discussion that everyone else is aware of.

juliets wrote: Wed May 30, 2018 1:51 pm @insertnamehere what are you thinking about who is bad? Also @Kites, same question.
Based on catching up, my top three suspects are Sloonei, motel room, and Coliniscool.

Colin is the weakest sus of the three, mainly gut and Dunya-related quibbles. I highly doubt that he "framed" as juliets suggested.

Motel Room. Who is he? What are his opinions? I realize that me chiding someone for being AWOL is highly hypocritical, but for some reason Kites and I have been placed in this perceived zone of lazy activity while Motel Room and Sloonei slide on by without doing anything. Sure, I'm inactive, but at least I'm properly shameful about it.

Sloonei. Another actually inactive player who is still not seen as inactive by the thread at large. Sloonei, the hyper-inquisitive vagabond of GOC and games past is gone, and in his place is a heavily-RP'ing clueless stranger.

Out of the three, the one I'd want to lynch today would be Sloonei, due to how much he just doesn't fit with my past knowledge of Sloonei-esque behavior.

@insertnamehere Can you explain your votes?

Do you have a specific quibble with the reasonings I gave for my votes, or is it just that you think context makes them look bad? I already explained my votes, and I'm happy to detail my reasoning further, but if people think that the context of the game trumps and inherent value my reasoning might have, there's not a lot I can say.

Three people had a bunch of votes on Day 2: Lilfer, Kyle, and Sprit. I thought Kyle seemed genuine, and I didn't really have strong feelings about the other two, so I randomized and got Sprit.

For Day 4, I thought Stumpignosis' case against Lapluie made sense.

Welp, I read the last four or so pages of this thread, and I was slightly pinged by Colin's wanting to go after inactives, (some of us are just nice people hosting time-intensive forum games AND DOING THE BEST WE CAN, OKAY?) I also didn't understand the whole Zeph wagon at all, and thought that Stumpignosis' post about Lapluie could possibly be how he would treat a mafia teammate. Also, I have no better ideas.

jackofhearts: jack reminds me of Mortal Kombat Jack, and i can't pinpoint exactly why. he spent the early game of that one doing meme posts with emotes, cus he was tired of... idk something. i think it was being misread? but ultimately he still contributed. this game seems to be leaning a little more towards roleplay than activity. though he has leaned towards the other way recently. he seems to be taking the meme aspect of this game in stride. he could be bad, gth i don't think he is.

ddl: my read on ddl is directly related to whether or not his role/alignment claim is correct or false, he claims sig will return to us at the end of the day so i think it's worth waiting to see if he's telling the truth. even if sig does return it doesn't gaurantee the rest of what he said is true, but it's a start, and a datapoint. the possibility that ddl has a role that can both vanish and unvanish people is a real possibility that shouldn't be ignored or forgotten but idk. that's something to deal with later. his emotional response to being poked at today seemed genuine, and also if this were some weird baddie gambit, it's one he's going to have to commit to, and this is going to be a long game. so i guess we'll see.

coliniscool: lots of genuine seeming content and work towards solving the game. he seems... feisty? bouncing around picking at peoples scabs. je doesnt' seem afraid to ruffle feathers and i like that. i still dislike his switch to dunya to tie the day 1 lynch up in a way which excluded eloh. i still need to review that section to see if things were as i remembered

kyle: so good, smells like raspberries, but real ones not the synthetic kind, hey do you think i should dye my hair again? i think maybe i should dye my hair again. like i know this isn't really the venue for this sort of discussion but wouldn't my hair look pretty good in like a raspberry color? or maybe mossy green again. like mossy streaks. or maybe.... blue??? idk. let me know what you think.

lunalee: her recent posts have felt more civ than her early posts were, there's a very genuine feel to her posts i think.

sprityo: his content hasn't had much content involved in it, i don't really know what to make of his personal attack comment and his leaving especially when it seemed clear that jay was cursed and his barrel comment wasn't really a personal attack, i wonder if he misunderstood what jay said? idk. he didn't seem to give many reads before he gave his list of who he would and wouldn't lynch today in order, so many of those reads seem out of left field as a result, i'd like if he'd come back and explain his reads more

jay: i think jay is town, he seems to be putting forth an authentic effort towards solving the game i trust him
Okay...so I have been reading a lot. And If I really get my head in this game now, I will have to say that this is the pingiest post of those who are eligible for a vote. Knowing he could be voted off, Kyle writes a post that lists his thoughts on all the other players -a cut and dry, formality-type post rather than really trying to convince us we ought not vote him.
Doing a half-assed catch up, and I got the exact opposite vibe from Kyle's posts that Elo apparantly received. Dude has seemed genuine to me the whole game, despite his so-called fluff.

The other two seem like AWOL players. Gotta vote now, so I'mma flip a coin.

Re: U-Pick Mafia Vol 1 - Night 1

Excited for supatown Stumpignosis.

Out of the poll options, I'd suggest #1 or #6. More votes means that more people have to put forth their opinions, encouraging discussion. More deaths means a higher chance of killing a baddie and kicking things into high gear. Plus, if people start dying the thread'll become actually manageable.

OK, now I'm "caught up" on whatever this game is. As I said earlier, Daisy seems genuine to me, and the case against her feels weeeak. Elo is someone who I find damn hard to read, and I'm not sure whether I should trust the people who say she's betraying her town meta or the people who say she's fitting into her town meta. Prolly not gonna vote for her. I might just help Marmot or Epi fulfill their dreams of being lynched. It's nice to try and help someone with a vote instead of hurting them.

Dunno. I utterly suck at early-game read divination, so I plan on following people I think seem like gen-u-ine townies. I've been getting good vibes from you, JJJ, and Dys. Someone not checking their role PM before posting would draw my ire if it was anyone other than Scotty.
Evil INH has shown a willingness to hand out easy civilian reads to highly active players in the earliest stages -- something I don't recall seeing much of from his civilian self.
Eh, it varies from game to game. Certain things pique my townie-meter, and certain things don't. As you said, I didn't townread anyone early on in the GOC. However, I was more or less present for the entirety of that game, while I was AWOL for a large chunk of Ass Class, and the townreads were a way of deflecting possible attention.

TBH, I feel like the inability to really townread people is a weakness of my civ game, so I'm trying to shake things up a little.

In the spirit of that, here are some people who seem alright to me:

I explained this in Ass Class, and I'll explain it again in here. The Genius is the most time-intensive forum game I've ever hosted. Unfortunately, I'm going to prioritize it over any other game I'm playing. To be blunt, I'd say 70% of my time and concentration is on The Genius and 30% is on this game. this reminds me of the Golden-hosted GOC where I was sweet old Tina Wesson in a scum team. If I had to guess, I'd say that the roles and alignments were randomized the same way.

Although, I don't see how even a randomizer could make Tommy Wiseau into some sort of evil presence.

I just finished a game where we tried lynching the low posters and we (civs) got creamed. Funny thing was it turned out the one we DIDN'T lynch, the one who barely showed up to the game until we were 3/4 of the way through, turned out to be bad. So in the end, it was the right thing to do we just picked the wrong ones to do it to.
