I hate that I feel like one of the players generating lots of discussion or at least contributing to solving must be a wolf
I don't think someone actively contributing HAS to be a wolf every single time
I just have an unsettling feeling that this is the case, with no grounds to back that take
And no, it's not me.

And with that, I've reached my thinking quota for now

Re: Severance [Evening One]
But to answer the question on why I feel like there must be a fairly active wolf in the thread, it's pretty rare I see games in which the entire wolf team is in the lowposters with no real content.
I saw it happen once a couple years ago and the entire wolf team endgamed and won because town tore itself apart, and I saw it happen recently in Rondo's flipless game because two wolves got modkilled for going completely afk and only one was left trying to pick up all the pieces, and even he lost a lot of drive because his team essentially yeeted itself.

Here’s the situation: not all is right. We’re about to limp into the stupidest looking bereft chop I’ve ever seen. It’s probably rand and there are somewhat good reasons not to do that. So then, who’s in this game who should know better? I promise I didn’t just immediately jump to the two voters on Bereft for the record, I think that looks slightly towny. Leetic seems to have lost a bit of the edge, can’t tell why. WWA is posting a lot but has no thread control nor have they attempted to wrest it. I won’t vote for Mac or dizzy day 1. Ted seems alright. Mac’s defending Gira. I won’t vote Rondo D1 for opposite reasons. Ran and Robyn are self resolving.

wwa never has thread influence really unless they find a literal smoking gun, which won't be found anywhere, what they have correctly deduced is that the wolves in game are active and posting well
we're not limping into the bereft chop and i'm taking responsibility for it, i can lead a wolf team to glory, i can also lead a d1 chop to glory. besides who knows if that's what i'll do, or not do, or do again, or something

as long as you’re masoning in a game this size with players that strong wolves are gonna have to deal with that sooner rrather than later and Ran is self resolving anyways for prior reasons and yes not every player in the game can be self resolving

A. I feel like I've explained this, at least to the extent I want to, in terms lo signal to noise ratio, posting to seem present but not having many thoughts that come across as solving. posts since they started being pushed haven't moved the needle for me. I know that's probably vague, I don't feel like casing because I would not say that this is an especially confident read still, just the one I feel best about pushing at the moment.Ranmilia wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 7:39 pm @Gira A. y u scumread robyn? But mac and you are both going at them hard and neither of you are really saying why that I can see, so... someone is big wrong here.
B. What is your philosophy on the act of voting (in mafia)?
B. votes are a tool. they create pressure, and pressure is one of the best ways to discern someone's alignment. in the environment I learned the game, voting early was customary, usually in an RVS stage, where i'd often try to go after someone for reactions early because i didn't like their opener, although that early attack approach backfired on me enough times that have abandoned it. in early games i'll move my vote around a lot as i pressure payers and then change my mind, late in games i think i tend to hold on to it more. I'm not someone who particularly cares about accuracy, sometimes the reaction you get from voting someone is the best way to find them as town. It's probably true that I tend to hold on to my vote more as scum, because I get cautious about who I'm pushing and don't want to do things that are potentially bad optics.

hum, i thought i'd made that clear as well - because the way you were making that vote felt disproportionate to how you had reacted earlier and it stuck me as possible you were scum responding in an overly defensive manner to an accusation. i asked you about your thought process to get you to elaborate. Re: Severance [Evening One]
Certainly, but I made that vote literally when the voting opened, and given dizzy's sole contribution at that point was a driveby accusation of me I would think it should be self evident why. I'm not sure like... what you were expecting, overnight I was thinking about Gira scum worlds and wondering if you were serving me up a "have you stopped beating your wife yet" kind of deal trying to will into existence a stronger read than I actually had. This is pretty relevant in dizzy town worlds. But now you have dizzy and I both town which goes against that.Gira wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 8:28 pm
hum, i thought i'd made that clear as well - because the way you were making that vote felt disproportionate to how you had reacted earlier and it stuck me as possible you were scum responding in an overly defensive manner to an accusation. i asked you about your thought process to get you to elaborate. You provided an explanation I found satisfactory and quelled any paranoia on my part.
i think questioning someone's reasoning on a vote is entirely valid for scumhunting, yeah?
Obviously I am not going to get you to examine worlds where yourself is scum so I'm not actually sure where I'm ending up with this. But perhaps the process will be helpful for process reader people.
