Ted Lasso Mafia - game over!
Hosted by fingersplints and Sloonei
Town
Ted Lasso - He is overly optimistic, and loves to take care of everyone around him. But he suffers from panic attacks and it sometimes affects his performance. Protector - 50 % chance of being effective.
Coach Beard - He knows all. Checks a player once in a blue moon. (odd nights)
Rebecca Walton - She wants nothing more than revenge on Rupert for cheating and publicly humiliating her. If she finds him, she drains all his money. (She will not be told she found Rupert.)
Roy Kent - Anger may be his superpower, but he is really just looking for love. Searches odd nights to find Keeley - btsc once found.
Keeley Jones - She’s sort of famous for being almost famous. Searches even nights to find Roy - btsc once found.[/b][/u]
Jamie Tartt - Jamie Tartt, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo. Once completely self absorbed, he has learned to case about others. Searches for Keeley. If he finds out who she is he is safe from 1 night kill. If he doesn’t he will die in her place.
Leslie Higgins - He is one of the original Diamond Dogs and close confidant of Rebecca’s; He always knows everyone’s business and loves to talk. Sends a message to another player once a night.
Trent Crimm - The Independent. Is able to post a message in the host post every night.
Sam Obisanya - Kind and caring. He loves his home country of Nigeria and wants to stop Cerithium Oil from turning it into a hellish swamp. Blocks on even nights.
Isaac Macadoo - The new captain of the Greyhounds is known for his strength. Forces one player every night to vote how he votes the following day.
Colin Hughes - Spends most of the series hiding who he really is from his teammates. Hides behind another player once a night.
Dani Rojas - Football is Life! But football is also death. May night kill once in the game.
Mafia
Rupert Mannion - He is the former owner of AFC Richmond and ex-husband of Rebecca. He is known for using his wealth to get what he wants. Each night he’s alive he gains £1. 5 million. The store is only open at night.
- £1 million - kill
- £2.5 million elim save
- £500k protect
- £500k investigate to find out role (3 available)
(In the event of Rupert’s death, his team will be livid and seek revenge. Then they can kill without money)
Nathan Shelley - Nate the Great or “The Wonder Kid” Can’t be red checked.
Trio of fans -
Baz - The loudest and angriest of the group of friends. Curses another player once in the game. If the target fails to meet the curse requirements, they lose their vote for that day.
Jeremy - Less angry than Baz, but not as nice as Paul. The perfect middleman. Blocks once in the game.
Paul - Always polite. Protects once in the game.
Edwin Akufo - He is a petulant billionaire known to throw tantrums when he doesn’t get his way. He has a petty vendetta against Sam for refusing to join his super league. Each night he searches for Sam. If he finds him, he will bully Sam into voting with him the next day.

Please, please, please be mindful of these rules, gang. This is not a typical heist, and sometimes anti-claiming rules give people trouble if they aren’t used to them.fingersplints wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 3:33 pm Rules:

The long-timers around here know the drill. If you’re not used to this, however, read and absorb. Please and thank you. I say this as someone who has had problems in the past as a host.

I have never seen this show, but since i just got Apple to watch Severance, it's on the list.
The video was cute.
I hope I'm not here when Jay starts eating people.

Additional suggestion:
Avoid roleplay in this game unless you are very diverse about which characters you represent. Or that’s an implicit rule violation.
And yes this is a good show. I might say it’s Apple’s second best? Either this or Silo IMO.

Hey y'all! Hope everyone is doing well; i'll be frank: not super familiar with games that restrict role claiming or dropping hints about their role, so looking forward to using this as an opportunity to learn. Anyone care to provide a previous game here that was similar, pretty please? In the meantime, gonna continue catching up w/ Ted Lasso (the show, lol).

This used to be the norm around here years ago. It is much less common these days. The most recent example, to my knowledge, was the first game of our 10-year anniversary bit.DarlingMonroe wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 6:35 pm Hey y'all! Trust my instinct/gut more. I played a little too passively; perhaps it would have been more useful to town if I had contributed more, perhaps not.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 6:45 pmHappy to be of service. Re: Ted Lasso Mafia - Day 1
Some setup notes to be aware of moving forward:
The numbers ratio established in the OP is 12 vs. 4. This is a difficult but not unmanageable arrangement for town, particularly without the benefit of public role reveals.
If the game proceeds at a normal pace (one day elimination and one night kill per cycle), town only gets three mistakes before they reach an endgame phase. Town also boasts one kill (through the Dani Rojas role), but that kill alone would not change this number. It's still three mistakes maximum, and the mafia have two manners of kill protection available to them anyway.
The only way that number changes is with multiple night kill protections and/or a protection plus a kill (I think that works out).
With that in mind, we should just operate under the assumption at present that we are only allowed to make three mistakes. That is not very many. So we are going to have to play hard as a town team to overcome that. It can be done, but it will require concerted desire from everyone to make it so. So let's do that. The best weapon town possesses in a game like this is its ability to talk during the day phase, and so talk we must. Inactivity is more damaging in this setup than it would be in other setups. Mafia already boast a considerable voting block, and we must avoid helping them by unnecessarily splitting our votes or by leaving our votes off the board. These things routinely lose games, and they are unforced errors. We can avoid them if we are conscious of it and communicate effectively.
"Stop telling me how to play, Jay."
I appreciate everyone's right to do their thing, and I hope that's exactly what you do. Play however you like! I just want to emphasize that we begin this game in a difficult position, and that will not change for the better unless we cooperate.

Be aware that votes might not be changeable.
I don't actually know, and we'll see. But I suggest everyone refrain from clicking the poll frivolously until we know for sure they aren't auto-locked. That's another old school tradition that often accompanied no-claims rules.

@DarlingMonroe back in the day, if we had info, we took it and used it as a starting point to build a case, not unlike a murder mystery. Building the case isn't hard once you know a person is bad, it's easy to find the bread crumbs. What's hard is getting other people to listen to you.

Re: Ted Lasso Mafia - Day 1
I think that's a fair takeaway! I would always urge some amount of healthy skepticism about one's own gut (because intuition is biased), but you should still absolutely voice whatever your gut is telling you. Post it right here in this thread, and then we can all engage the dialogue. Indeed, if your gut is right, it might be that conversation that convinces other people of what you are feeling. So to play "actively" is probably best reflected in being willing to play with your cards face up. Just share any thoughts as you have them, no matter how much doubt you might have. It never hurts to say what's on your mind. It usually helps.DarlingMonroe wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 6:58 pm Trust my instinct/gut more. Oh yes, let it be clear that I still possess all of the self-assurance I once did, and that I will likely look the same as ever before in this game. I just enjoy the aesthetic of describing myself an ancient being of lost lore.S~V~S wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 7:06 pmYou kicked towns ass in Epis Don't Starve game, so I would think there's probably some life left in those bones yet.

Is it because it's more dramatic to come out of retirement and become the champ you once were?JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 7:09 pmOh yes, let it be clear that I still possess all of the self-assurance I once did, and that I will likely look the same as ever before in this game. I just enjoy the aesthetic of describing myself an ancient being of lost lore.S~V~S wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 7:06 pmYou kicked towns ass in Epis Don't Starve game, so I would think there's probably some life left in those bones yet.
@DarlingMonroe back in the day, if we had info, we took it and used it as a starting point to build a case, not unlike a murder mystery. Building the case isn't hard once you know a person is bad, it's easy to find the bread crumbs. What's hard is getting other people to listen to you.
Linki @Jay, see you're looking pretty alive to me.
I might steal that one.

Exactly. Why just be "JaggedJimmyJay playing Mafia" when I can be "The Old Wyrm, Great Dragon of Ancient Syndica, J'agg Jimm'jei, Returned by Prophecy to Reclaim the Empire"?

My first BG3 guardian had it too. So you've played it multiple times? I finished it once and it was great, then I started a couple more attempts but fizzled out.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 7:22 pmHi Thunal! Your avatar has the same tattoo as my first BG3 guardian.

I completed about 1.9 playthroughs and also fizzled out, at least temporarily. That's a Larian staple in my experience (I had similar experiences with Divinity OS2).Thunal33 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 7:24 pmMy first BG3 guardian had it too. So you've played it multiple times? Yeah, I wanted to try an evil playthrough but I didn't have the same investment.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 7:26 pmI completed about 1.9 playthroughs and also fizzled out, at least temporarily. The closest thing I have to a read so far:
DarlingMonroe
The soft shade of green is deliberate. Town is my initial impression, and I acknowledge that it's not based on strong data.

Holy cow! Playing with JJJ not in a champs game is pretty sweetJaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 7:04 pm Be aware that votes might not be changeable.
I don't actually know, and we'll see. But I suggest everyone refrain from clicking the poll frivolously until we know for sure they aren't auto-locked. That's another old school tradition that often accompanied no-claims rules.
Also, I can confirm votes are changeable, as I already clicked on the ‘view without voting’ which always locks me out if votes aren’t changeable

I’m gonna roleplay as the soccer ball.JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 6:19 pm Additional suggestion:
Avoid roleplay in this game unless you are very diverse about which characters you represent. Or that’s an implicit rule violation.
And yes this is a good show. I might say it’s Apple’s second best? Either this or Silo IMO.
Kick me. I dare ya
