Only to notice that two desks and two chairs were missing, which would have ended up with two students not having a place to sit during the exam. And/or frantic re-arrangement of stuff in a hurry directly before the exam was supposed to take place.
...I obviously took care of that immediately. Damn, what a lucky break for us, this could have gotten nasty otherwise.

Re: Fallout New Vegas: A Post-Nuclear Mafia Game [DAY 1]
I'm on page 7 now. Catchup has been slow because my wife put on The Marvels and I had not seen it yet.
Dunnstral seems like the best townread I have so far. I like the way they approach other players' reads, probably because I've seen things the same way. Lime Coke seemed suspicious for a few pages, but page 6 seemed to make me feel better about him. Manny and Chelsea, I didn't really like their back-and-forth about who's carrying who, I haven't picked up any alignment vibes about them yet, and their talk cluttered up the thread for me. Like "ok, I want to get through this to something more AI". Probably me not knowing them is a factor there, maybe there's rich AI in their conversation that I don't see.
Abby can get a townread because I like her frustration with people misinterpreting her reasons for townreading with her statement that the active players are town.
I've also run out of time for tonight. I'll continue tomorrow. Hopefully it will be a shorter workday and I can get some good afternoon time here.

Yes, because you said that mafia were not posting, but you weren't closely reading posts. So how could you say that without having read? That's why it seems fake to me.MacDougall wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 10:18 pmMe not noticing certain posts feels fake?Dunnstral wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 6:59 pmWell I talked about both.Michelle wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 1:06 pmWhat's scummy about them?Dunnstral wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 12:52 pmTowny:

The rest I'm either in the middle or have no opinion on.
Manny's posts are vibe posts and they are not explaining their stances
Macdougall commented on wolves being low activity players without responding to earlier comments that were against that, so that feels fake.

Scotty's catchup is fine, it's really against the grain almost to such a point that it feels deliberate in a bad way but to act on this would be way too much ego for Day 1 for me. So I'll disregard that for now and trust Lime's read on the matter.

Yes, that leads to another "why" but right now I don't feel like elaborating further helps me.

Manny and unfortunate wolf rand don't belong in the same sentence for me. I noticed he really enjoyed himself as a wolf.MacDougall wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 5:04 pm Fwiw I am pre-emptively not applying usually Manny town meta looks to my mental model of Manny because I am very conscious that Manny gets overwhelmed when he lets himself get carried away in games and would be trying to hedge against that instinct in ways that might result in unusual looks.
The fact that he's actually posting with a pulse at all given the above might be strongly indicative he didn't cop an unfortunate wolf rand in this game tbh.

From my experience in other games gimmick posters often (not always, but more than 50% of the time) turned out to be wolves hiding behind the gimmick so... I'll keep my eyes on you.
Re: Fallout New Vegas: A Post-Nuclear Mafia Game [DAY 1]
I know this looks like it is addressed to you more directly but it's rather me trying to explain to others why I think that you are town and to have others follow my read. In my opinion the exchange best exemplified what I townread about your play.Scotty wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 4:45 pmButtering me up, eh?LanMisa wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 4:35 pmThat's fair. It was late for her in the starting parts of this phase since she lives on the moon and her time zone is 84 hours ahead. There’s a bevy of options up there that really are situational to the game. In the before times, us old farts didn’t use to post off topic without using the OT button. Sarcastic orange to imply sarcasm, pedantic to imply pedantic-ism (w/e the noun of that is). Nowadays, we just…post. Be free.
Dead players used to be able to post off topic in dead red. That’s still a host preference. We don’t customarily do that much anymore
Oh, that YouTubeHD code button doesn’t work. YouTube videos can just be posted and they’ll appear as normal
Back to the regular game, is there some player or interaction that you felt needs to be looked into a bit further? I saw you having a negative opinion of Michelle so far which I don't have so maybe this is something you want to get back to me about at some point?
Michelle is probably more of a towncore *because* of how wrong I am in comparison to others tbh
I also just in general like HOW you come around with your reads and make adjustments. Like, not the fact that you do it, but the how and the why. I'm very solid on you being town now.
Just so you know, I’m generally more suspicious of those that townread me more than scum read me. I’ll let you pocket me for now. But I might want to put you in the 3p more firmly than town atm lol
(Maybe it feels silly to you to drop a townread on someone who's not in immediate contention but from experience these kinds of reads come more in handy in the long run, especially if games get tough and the former towncore starts to crumble away.)

Re: Fallout New Vegas: A Post-Nuclear Mafia Game [DAY 1]
Okay, I did some catch-up with the night posts, here are my thoughts:
- Mac is... giving me mixed vibes. Similar to Scotty and Chelsea he came in with a strong push/approach, but... it feels a bit different. More aggressive and destructive instead of productive? I'm not sure if this is just a tonal thing since he did come around changing stances on Manny as far as I can tell AND he also looked in more than one way (like at Scotty and me, not just at Manny), but... I dunno, I will have to let it simmer for a bit longer.
- I did read Mac's post on this type of play apparently being Epi's regular M.O. and I will take your word for it, especially since Scotty also backed it up. I do hope to see more explanation for reads on the billboards as well and... well, I said what I had to say about gimmicks.
- Not sure if Seanzie had given a reason as for why they can't play more but them not coming back after what I consider a very meh opening is a bad look in my eyes.
[VOTE: Seanzie ] aubergine
- Sig had a weird entrance and I need to reread it a bit later with more clarity in mind. Long Con jumping immediately on these posts for readbuilding instead of all the other pages with more meaningful interactions has been noted. Long Con, would you say that you prefer real-time interactions over backreading, or what else made you focus on these things especially?
- I see Dunnstral posting but the posts still don't stick in my mind and I wonder if that's a me thing. Definitely on the reread pile.
- Abigail quoting my earlier impression post of hers but not my townread(s) on her is making me sad.
Since Chelsea asked: I don't know how to read either Dunn or Jack, only played with Jack in mashes from what I remember and I left figuring out my fellow SMT enjoyer to the crowd, usually.

If you want to discuss a few things right now let me know, otherwise I'll go do some work for school. Promised my students to prepare a...well, basically a document detailing the most important functionalities of their calculators in preparation for the big exams coming up.

I mean, it's early morning in Europe, the Americans are asleep and we have quite a few low-posters, including a non-poster.
Any thoughts on the game that differ a lot from your earlier reads list? Something you want to discuss? Or do you have something to help me figure out the players I am unsure of as of now?

[VOTE:
MacDougall] aubergine
I think it is better to vote for somebody who is suspicious and active rather than somebody who is meh and not fully in the game yet.

Chelsea brought up that Manny/Macdougall are not both mafia in some capacity and I agree with that

Not really, try to expand on it pls.
That means also that I forgot overnight what you posted about him and I couldn't yet reread anything being at work, so say it again anyway.

Why is this post worded like you are not sure about it but you want to post something anyway?

If you want to ask anything, just do it, otherwise a silent thread it's not a bad one per se.

Re: Fallout New Vegas: A Post-Nuclear Mafia Game [DAY 1]
Macdougall made a post saying that it looks like the mafia had not posted yet.
I pointed out that there was already discussion of this topic that they are not referencing.
They responded implying they had missed a few posts.
My issue is that if they haven't read the thread that closely, how can they tell that mafia haven't been posting yet? How can they have townreads on everyone who has posted? So I think their initial post reads as fake.

Re: Fallout New Vegas: A Post-Nuclear Mafia Game [DAY 1]
You are misreading it.
In some capacity, Chelsea brought that point up by saying one of the two were mafia. Not sure if she explicitly said that they weren't mafia together, but that is what I got from that.

I apologize for point blank not showing up after I got home but I tired myself out coaching my practice and I didn't have the energy to read through everything and get a solve going.
I will try to get things down but don't expect much for the rest of the day phase I flat out am sorry about that.

It was probably better off I just read the game as I had time throughout the day but instead I decided to try to read it all at once when I got home but fuuuucking hell.

And yes I know the irony in that after I complained about no activity when I initially showed up at SOD.
This was why.

@Chelsea @Michelle
I see you two voting Manny kinda wanna know why.
Also do you have anything else to add read wise?
I promise to make up for my lack of effort later if I'm still in the game.

While I do understand the statement....what do you think the issue is, here? Are the wolves the low-/no-posting players? Are wolves in the middle and just content with the status quo? Are the wolves top-posters who run out of stuff to say due to the higher number of barely-shows?
I personally don't think that this game is in danger yet due to the heavy emphasis on mechanics, as far as I can tell; I've also been in games where too many posts ended up drowning out the really important discussions and nobody backread the clusterfuck of pages which ALSO heavily helped wolves. I'd personally love to see a few more interactions from the low-posters but... many other players feel rather readable already. But maybe that's just me.

Re: Fallout New Vegas: A Post-Nuclear Mafia Game [DAY 1]
Manny feels deflated in a wolfy way, sheeping consensus reads and sharing self meta.
Also he made some twtbaw posts but he is self conscious about his posting style, so that looks to be on purpose.
I hope you can catch up and share reads before Eod

This forum has a massive activity problem that leads to easy wolf wins you can not convince me otherwise and it is one of the reasons I'm convinced town win rates on the syndicate are an atrocity latelyLanMisa wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 8:07 amOr the ones of us who are busy with life as well and only got time to glance a look on occasion!☆Princess Abigail☆ wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 7:07 amA silent thread benefits only wolfsMichelle wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 5:43 amNot really, let the players to catch up, the post cap is a real blessing for busy players.☆Princess Abigail☆ wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2024 5:32 am I dunno what to do to generate discussion but I do think it's necessary here
