Thoughts on Foxy?

I have complex thoughts on Foxy, I want to reread them today when I have time at work. They made that one post about, "Oh we know who the king is?" and while *I KNOW* that slips barely happen, "barely" isn't never. I tend to distrust people who try (or seem to try) to steer a thread, and I tend to push back against them and find that sus. Thats a me thing, not a Foxy thing. I'm ambivalent, it could also be they are at a new site and want to jump in with both feet. This is why I generally make it my policy not to vote new people day 1, so they can get their feet under them, and I can get past human nature; "Different = bad!!!!"
Other than that I have no thoughts at all on any topic.

I agree that that lottery aspect is lame. I've never been one of the "winning is everything" peopleEpignosis wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 11:26 pm I'm off work and caught up.
I read the wiki page previously and have thought about it.
"However, it still allows the town a distinct advantage and turns the game into little more than a lottery."
There's no distinct advantage about "little more than a lottery." I'm a gambler, and I don't do lottery.![]()
Nevertheless, the presence of two assassins (instead of one) changes the dynamic and provides a little more to work with than blind chance.
It's a little more like finding the damn Destroyer in Battleship.
But, on my part, I plan on sticking with "no info" in the form of no opinions a day or two, even if workarounds are super obvious to everyone but me. If someone asks me a direct question, I won't ignore it, but i don't plan on asking anyone much of anything myself until I get the feel for how this works, or volunteering opinions on all you lovely people.
No nights is gonna be hard, that's usually my catch up time.
And yes! As soon as i saw it I realized that

So to pivot, I decided i can sleep through anything. Last night there was a stabbing at the 7-11 around the corner. I am in NY, but I'm in the suburbs in what was recently voted "the second snootiest neighborhood on Long Island" (which is impossible and only tells me that the people who voted in this poll were unable to get past the gates in the actual 2nd snootiest neighborhood), and this is not a common thing. Apparently there were cops trolling the neighborhood "blooping" their sirens, there were *helicopters* (my landlord texted me about all of this, and I slept through the texts and didn't see then till this AM) low flying with searchlights, and I slept through the whole thing.

This game is pretty different from mafia. In mafia you want to give a lot of info and in AITP you want to give as little info as possible.
If everyone talks a lot and gives read lists it will be super easy for the assassins to deduce who the king is just by looking at who nobody wants to kill.
But if don't talk and just collectively vote off the first person to get run up with votes each day, the assassins don't have much info to work with and can't make accurate shots. There is no night phase so we have guards to spare and losing a guard isn't a big deal.Hi Miss, may I kindly ask, are you mafia?
I appreciate a direct approach, this technique could be a game changer

Re: Assassins in the Palace [Day 0]
Nah, the only reason people played lotto in that game is because there was only 1 scum so there was no reason not to. Here, scum are MUCH more easy to influence opinion as they are the only legit team here. On the other hand, they will have to do usual scum tactics as well, whether they want to or not. It's actually quite simple. This is a game of who is better at hiding your partner. 10 town or 2 scum. I veto random voting and if you guys hate it, just vote me out. I have other projects I have to deal with anyway so I don't mind.S~V~S wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 8:20 pmThat's all i plan to talk about from here on out. Fun stuff. Just feels like there's more granduer, ya know?
That aside, sir, your contribution to the game has been very limited to the flavor(<-- Love this one, too).
If, though, a compelling reason comes up to do otherwise, I'll be open to it. As of now, though, I think putting as little info out into the universe as possible seems wise.
Instead I'll post some haiku about silence.
The silence speaks well,
how time passes seamlessly...
moment to moment!
And from yesterday,
to the day called tomorrow...
we'll live out our lives!...

No hard feelings, this isn’t the first time people have disagreed with the way I play and it’s not the first time people have scumread me for it. In response to one of your questions no, I’m not mafia.
And I’m actually trying to figure out the answers to some of your earlier questions because while my strategy is a good idea for 6 player AITP I kind of want to see how it translates to 13 player AITP and if it’s any different.
It looks like about a 70% chance town is able to kill both assassins before they reach parity if we eliminate by random (because I’m a nerd and felt like making a script for it). We can use the info we already have and any new info to increase that chance, but we’re already in a pretty good spot for eliminating both assassins. The assassins aren’t in such a good spot from the start, they have to get more info to be able to make good shots.
And Avalon does have a ranking system and sometimes tournaments but I’ve never played one.
1. What makes you believe that eliminations will be random?
2. Can you show me the process behind the calculations?
3. Oh nice, I might check out the game.
1. I don't but it can be an okay baseline to get an idea of town's chances.
2. Open up Python and ask ChatGPT to write some code. My understanding is that it recursively computes probabilities until all the mafia are eliminated or mafia reach parity. Kind of similar to these calculations but not the same since this game has no night kills. https://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?ti ... EV_Project

Any king angle related solving seems like it's gonna backfire either like 1) catch a guard pretending he doesn't know who the king is or 2) make it clear who the king is.

Any king angle related solving seems like it's gonna backfire either like 1) catch a guard pretending he doesn't know who the king is or 2) make it clear who the king is.

Yeah, 12 vs 3 was the standard when I first started many centuries ago so 11 vs 2 does seem pretty townsided.

I'll also add that being an outed guard isn't that much better than being dead in this setup. If the assassins know not to shoot you, that's one person they can eliminate from their pool for the rest of the game. I think it's a little better than being dead because you can still help town with your vote and the assassins can still tinfoil you, but it sure isn't good.
