Awesome. I've been making "smash point" bets (that are obviously fake) all the time with Daisy IRL; it's driving her nuts. :P

Night 4
Image
Sophie said "don't kill me, I'm new!"
DisgruntledPorcupine said "Don't kill me either! I'm newer!"

Nobody cared what either of them had to say, but Sophie was the one who caught it right between the eyes.

Sophie has been lynched. She was Jeff Darrell.

THAT is a surprise, tbh, I meant to vote for Sophie, and voted myself by mistake, big fat fingers, little phone screen.

I still don't think it means DP is bad, though. Just that the baddies were howling with Glee in their chatroom. I also had a different person in mind for that role. So that is a double surprise.

How?
That wasn't the reason for my early vote-- you are conflating two unrelated topics. That's a reason why my vote isn't suspicious, not why I voted early.
You know the difference.
But you didn't give a reason for voting when you voted for Zomba. When you voted for DP last night, you said you might have a busy day the next day and you wanted to make sure you voted. When you voted for Zomba early, you just said "I voted". And then after someone called you out on the possibility of you voting a teammate first, you responded with:
Dom wrote:Also-- starting the vote on someone on your own team that early in the day?
Your Day 3 early vote lacked a complimentary RL explanation for its earliness, but that's okay, you didn't need it because Zomba was going to flip bad, and you could say afterwards that you wouldn't have started the voting on a teammate that early in the lynch. This all leads me to believe that your early vote for Zomba was a calculated move, drawn up to arrive at this exact defensive strategy.

Now you are going after DP for voting Vomps late; you are harping on the importance of vote timing, but you won't acknowledge that Zomba's teammates might have thrown her under the bus yesterday. You think it's more likely that they tried to save her, that DP specifically tried to save her. I've pointed out that Zomba didn't even vote to save herself. Why would DP put his neck on the line to try and save her, when he didn't even place the tying vote? Epi later came in and tied the vote - I don't see you going after Epi at all Dom - and it STILL wasn't enough to save Zomba.

If Zomba didn't vote to save herself, judging by her behavior yesterday, I think there's a good chance that her teammates gave up on her early. Which brings me right back to Dom's vote for Zomba.
Think carefully TH, about what you're saying. Examine the facts of the lynch, my vote, my timing.
Turnip Head wrote:Dom said he isn't looking at DP because of what the paper said, he said he's looking at DP solely because of his vote. But Dom is not suspecting, and voting for, the other late Vomps voters. Epi voted Vomps to tie the lynch, and Dom is not looking at Epi. Dom is lying. The item thing must be playing into his vote, even if he doesn't want to say it is.

I think Dom is trying to play off of what the paper says about DP, in that he wants other people to join him in voting for DP because of the item thing, but Dom doesn't want that to be his reason.
That's a nice theory, but a wrong one nonetheless.

Perhaps Epig is bad-- it could be, but I am not suspicious of him at this point.
Turnip Head wrote:Because I suspect Dom for things he has said and done, and I don't suspect DP for what he's said and done. I don't know how to make it any simpler than that. :shrug2:
how do you not see how hypocritical you're being?
You have equivocated (falsely, in my opinion) reason to vote me and reason to vote DP.
Then you say there's no reason to suspect DP, but there IS reason to suspect me. However you have EQUIVOCATED the two.
That makes zero sense.
Turnip Head wrote:Exactly. I can draw no conclusions from DP because he rarely talks. He always votes late. I don't know why he would vote so obviously if he were a baddie with Zomba, when it seems to me that Zomba's team gave up on her. So I'm not sure why I'm supposed to be suspicious of him.
For the same reason you're suspicious of me, right?
Because that's how you began this argument on me.
Epignosis wrote:Grades were due today (and the system was down Friday), so I've only read along. Home now.

Now this post doesn't match up with blindfaeth's statement. blindfaeth suggested he would inherit "a large sum of money". SVS stated that she would inherit "everything she has". SVS then confirmed that the "everything" meant items.

If SVS is on Zomba's team, this is a perfect result. SVS now has the will, and can manipulate its content to the rest of us if she wants.

If SVS is a civvie, I feel that events would have unfolded differently. Would she have voted for an "infodropper" early and before everyone else?
*cut for brevity*

would you advocate a zombi or an svs lynch first them?
Zomba. If Zomba is civ, I doubt that SVS is a baddie. But the inverse is far more likely.

Linki @TH: I find your comments this evening to be less than useful, amid some bountiful discussion.

Linki @rabbit: Agreed. Better to get the thoughts out than to take them to your grave.
The next time Dom directly references Zomb, it's here.

Now I've said multiple times before that in a two-Mafia setup, there is no civilian credit (people are welcome to continue to argue with me about that, but I'm right). But in a one-Mafia setup (such as this one), there is an advantage to making it look like you sniffed out one of your teammates.

The thing is, there was no sniffing.
Dom wrote:I think Zombs is bad.
Dom wrote:I think we should vote Zomba fwiw.
Dom wrote:And I truly believe Zombi is bad bad news.
That's everything Dom had to say about Zombarella on Day 3. No case, no push- just an early vote and three sentences that say the same thing. That's getting out of the way of the shit before it hits the fan, I say.

What do we do with politicians?

We vote for them. :llama:
Yup, you're right. I came out against my teammate almost immediately on Day 3 when there was no consensus at all against them.
Good job! you've figured me out-- carry me away in handcuffs.

Or you could think more critically and realize how freaking wrong you are. But hey-- you're the only one paying attention, so if we're aiming for critical thinking and THIS is the gold standard, then I guess we're screwed.

This post feels very accusatory to no one in particular.

Is there a pattern regarding certain players that brings you to this conclusion? If so, I am definitely interested to hear about what you're seeing.

The answer: all of them, if you are a marmot.

I'm just trying to figure things out. The lynch of Sophie just felt very off to me.

Why? Even she admitted she was not playing her civvie game. Pretty much everyone who had a history with her agreed. Most telling, IMO, was that someone who had missed the vote, and me, who misvoted, both said they would have voted her AFTER the lynch post revealed her a civ.

I could have easily avoided accountability via that self vote and being silenced; but I was gonna vote for Sophie cause I believed she was bad.

Looking at the win con's, it would make no sense for the Celestials to intentionally side with the baddies.

Lynching celestials is a terrible idea. Literally the only people who would benefit from that are baddies, who can't win with them if all 5 are alive. Because almost everyone was wrong doesn't mean they aren't trying to help the civvie cause.

There were 11 votes for Sophie - so it is even impossible for just mafia and neutrals to have voted her.

Equivocate is an intransitive verb meaning "to use ambiguous language to conceal the truth or avoid committing oneself."

You have equivocated (falsely, in my opinion) reason to vote me and reason to vote DP.
Then you say there's no reason to suspect DP, but there IS reason to suspect me. However you have EQUIVOCATED the two.
That makes zero sense.

And Dom is saying that TH is drawing a similarity between his reasons to vote Dom and his reasons to vote DP. What is the word he meant to use?

Why would either team all vote the same people? That would make it too obvious who they all are. I've never been on a team where all members consciously chose to vote together, in fact it's usually the exact opposite. That's not even getting into how dumb the Celestials would be to work with the baddies. I can see them putting their own team first, it's what I'd do, but they literally can't win with the baddies and are basically an extension of the civs.
