Re: Talking Heads Mafia (RYM #90)
Hey folks, let's not forget these:
I realize there has been a situation that has prompted a discussion, and nothing has firmly crossed the line, but we've had recent discussion that is increasingly tiptoeing that line, so I wanted to remind everyone. Don't forget that regardless of whether the information being dumped or role outed is true or not, the perception of such is just as bad.
MovingPictures07 wrote: 4. No role outing of yourself or anyone else. This includes all statements of fact that any player may see and thereafter deduct your or someone else's role, such as "I am Making Flippy Floppy", "Sloonei is Psycho Killer", etc. This game is open setup and incompatible with role outing, thus making it not fun when players engage in it. Absolutely don't do it.
5. No dumping information you received from the Host (whether role-related or not) into the thread. This includes statements that more often are seen as implications, rather than statements of fact (role outing). An example would be declaring that "I have reasons to believe Sloonei is Psycho Killer" without elaborating. If you suspect someone to be a certain role or alignment, use in-thread reasons to back up your assertion or speculation, even if your reasons are sourced from information you gained outside of the thread. If you are unsure if what you are about to say constitutes info dumping, please PM the hosts first before making the post. If you fail to do this and your post does violate information dumping, then you and your faction will be punished.

Re: [DAY 4] Talking Heads Mafia (RYM #90)
No probs bullz. I know it's annoying when people say you 'ignored' something you just didn't see. Even though I think you are bad, it would not be fair to you (or anyone else in the same situation) if a gambit was used to 'accidentally' lynch you. I would be incredibly suspicious of anyone who claimed to vote you for reasons other than suspecting you and then didn't change their vote.
@MP - for clarification. If people are speculating as to a person's role (correctly or incorrectly) based on things that have happened in the thread in the game, that is completely legitimate, yes?
@floyd - some people suspect you because they think you voting makes you look like you know more than you are letting on. I happen not to agree, though.

I think you'll find that many players will always find it suspicious when someone is not posting very much while voting on time each day. That indicates that you are at least staying attentive to the game's existence without involving yourself in the discussions that generate pressure. I know this is your first Mafia game though, and it has taken off at a torrent pace that must be difficult to keep up with.
Please understand that we all need to have a way to read what your alignment is. At the moment you're sort of a coin flip, there's just not enough information to make any fair judgments about you. You're doing better today though, and if you keep that up then that'd be awesome.

For me, his suspicion is his massive amount of filler content, of the ~40 posts he has maybe ten with actual content, and nothing that is overly useful for making a read. Not until most recently with this post did I really find anything useful. This analysis is really in depth.RadicalFuzz wrote:bcornett, I know you're finishing your post right now, but I have a question after you're completed. Why do you have Wilgy as "possibly scum?"
I also disagree with you on your suspicion of J3, at least regarding post count. Having more posts to analyze is always a good thing. It can definitely be tricky because there's so much information, yes, but you have that player's opinions and analyses on essentially everything.
Spoiler: show
I will also say I understand how difficult it is to catch up, this thread is massive and has so much content, and it keeps generating more. A lot to remember, and even more to comprehend.
As I previously stated what I gave earlier was mostly gut reads, working on analysis, diiny is up next.
With regard to JJJ:
I agree, having more posts is generally better, but this is not to say that it could not be potentially used to dissuade reads. I am not saying that JJJ is doing this, I am saying that it is possible that he could be. Strategically speaking, it is a great idea, have so many posts that nobody wants to analyze it. I mean he has 7 pages of 50 posts, this is almost 300 posts and it is only day 4.

Re: [DAY 4] Talking Heads Mafia (RYM #90)
I think we really have to lynch sorsha. I feel like it's the key to breaking the game open today. She either flips scum and leaves behind a tasty breadcrumb trail, or flips town and leaves behind a tasty breadcrumb trail. Trusting Golden again seems like a nice way to get another townie killed. We've got a scum dead inside the first four days in a large game. We can afford a tactical lynch. Sorsha is a good lynch candidate for up front scum play as well as being the best possible lynch from a tactical perspective. Short of someone saying "I am scum" my vote won't be changing today.
Sorsha's play being scum is well documented, you only have to look at her recent posts to get a sense of posting nervously as scum playing poorly with a lynch on them tend to do.
DrWilgy... Are you tunneling me because I said you were scum in that Jimmy's game? Oh my God, u suck brah.

Re: [DAY 4] Talking Heads Mafia (RYM #90)
His quirks in posting don't invalidate his other points. Do you legitimately have a problem with 7/8ths of his contribution just because the other 1/8ths is silly?bcornett24 wrote:
There are like 5 comments were gives people hugs. I tend to have an issue with seeing 1/8th of a persons content being "/hug". I think it makes him suspicious and would probably place him on the lighter side of orange in a revised rainbow.
That relies on our laziness, and especially in such a large game, is an extremely risky gambit. I'm not saying that posting frequently makes him look good, just that it doesn't make him look bad. Strategically speaking it's a horrible idea, giving the opposing team more evidence to work with when information is our greatest asset.

Simply because I saw his name on this very page of Mafia, I want to take a closer look at the marmot.

Not tunneling, just asking and pointing out things of importance. Luv ya bruh <3
Ok then, lets set up a chain of events, based on Sorsha crumbs.
When Sorsha flips baddie, who would you vote the following day?
When Sorsha flips civ, who would you vote the following day?
Generating rainbow lists for both if Sorsha is bad or civ would be a good thing as well... Maybe abit much to ask for though.
Bcornett are you bad?

That's what I'm asking him. What knowledge does he think he is going to be graced with when I flip town?bcornett24 wrote:How does flipping town help? I should have been more specific, 1/8th is hugs while another 3-4/8th if not more appears to be filler content in my opinion. I see a lot of off handed comments that don't really contribute in anyway.RadicalFuzz wrote:His quirks in posting don't invalidate his other points. I quite well understand this, and I doubt jay would be so careless, I've played all 5 games thus far with jay I don't think he has failed to break 200 posts in any of those threads. I remember that several were 500+ posts. I do agree with you though, more info is of course an asset. I just think in specific context to jay the amount of posts will need to be gone through and it will take considerable effort to do so. Whenever I see people latching on quickly to his statements, I become worried as he often appears to be one of the towniest players. I will also state that I have never played with scum jay. Because of the neutral-esque tone of his posts I assume it would be rather difficult to tell the difference.
@JJJ - What do you think Jay, how accurate is this?
I am more worried about people contributing only barely what they need to, even though they may be frequenting the thread such as RDW. His normal strategy is to go balls to the wall at several people to watch them squirm and then see what happens, his out of element behavior is bothersome. Or people I think are providing filler content. It is also harder to assess behavior compared to norms as I do not know well a bit over half of the players participating.
