M Plus 7 - i can feel the wind from his tail wagging so hard the way over here, eee. While i think he'd be excitable as scum, too, i think the direction that's gone in this particular game is just oozing with how happy he is to get to be playing for the first time with certain people, and in that, the emphasis is clearly on him being excited that those certain people could actually be town like he clearly wants them to be. Serious read, and unexpected--i thought i was gonna be terrified in a but oh god what if he's scum sorta way coming in, but damn if i don't feel like he's probably just town already, AND i'm comfortable with the feeling

JaggedJimmyJay - came in equally comfortable with joking around and with getting down to brass tacks solving (and doing both concurrently), not a bit of it feels forced, i feel like he's seeking out potential paths to sniff his way down without it feeling like he's reaching for minutiae

Kylemii - i do like the way he engaged me, i would've liked it better if he'd actually told me something about himself in his reply (tho i laughed), i'm most interested right now in seeing what he does or doesn't do with the replies he recieves there
Yay, you are town, aren't you? :yay:

It can be a bit finicky.

My advice is... whenever you want to tag someone, just hit the @ symbol, then the first few letters of their username, then pause a second, and then it will pop up. Then just either select it or hit enter. Then it should appear with [ mention ] [ / mention ] without the spaces, and then you'll know it will work.

JaggedJimmyJay wrote: Mon Aug 13, 2018 1:44 am MP, in your wild card game you and abyssum seemed to connect as civilian reads quickly (perhaps more in the case of your read of abyssum than the reverse). Can you briefly describe what inspired that -- no need to get deep into matters only relevant to that game. Things that can be applied to this new game are preferred, if they exist.
Yeah, sure. I'll try to explain it but apparently it was very difficult to effectively do so during the WC1 game, lol.

Basically... my read of aby in that game is one of the strongest soul/gut reads I've ever had. It was like they just BLED town spark consistently to me, via displaying:

- a genuine lack of information as noticeable by unconventional lines of interrogation and reassessment of players against thread consensus (as well as interactions with dead scum which seemed to indicate a lack of agenda to me anyway)

- a very loose sense of posting, like whether it was off-topic humor (which was fucking hilarious), an on-topic observational read, whatever, I felt like aby just very organically came up with posts in real time when I was interacting with them in a manner that just struck me as very difficult to fake so consistently

- genuine mindmelding at various points throughout the game, and it was almost like either I could literally steal the thoughts from their brain or they were stealing them from mine, and it definitely went both ways

There was probably more that I'm not effectively communicating, but hopefully that gives an idea.
Hue, i think you may get the "creepily" soulreading town!aby as town thing as well as i do
I just might, haha. Guess time will tell!

She was one of the easiest reads I've ever made, and I was constantly paranoid and reassessing like every post too, but she just kept SCREAMING town to me. I'm not even sure I can fully explain it.

Tsaiah

Kylemii

And that's it I think. I'm still trying to sort through the other posters... and we have a decent amount of players who (understandably) haven't posted yet.

Nope. Just some people that I'm trying to get to know, and some people that I'm watching to see what they do next, with some overlap between the two. :smoky:

I'm a townhunter, on d1 I'm primarily looking for other town (while simultaneously trying to not put any scum in my townreads). My end-of-first day reads have been historically pretty accurate (like if i have ~6 or 7 decently strong townreads, there may be that one inevitable scum hiding among them. Occasionally none, and then that one game that i'm still pissed about, there were two xD)

The WIM is taking overrrrr :feb:

But yeah, incidentally, I will be really busy this coming week, so... don't expect me to play like this pretty much due to lack of time, certainly not due to lack of desire.

1) read my "some early thots" post re:you again ;3

2) if you are, you're doing a damn good job of not looking like you're trying to

3) my read on you isn't based on your read on me

4) that giant meta-thoughts post was made in an environment where multiple people could most likely call you out if it was misleading, and thus boxes in everyone on it into a tighter, potentially more difficult to play in as scum space, including your scummates if you had them

5) i have a pretty good degree of confidence in my stronger first-day reads

6) i'm pretty sure you're just town xD

3) my read on you isn't based on your read on me

4) that giant meta-thoughts post was made in an environment where multiple people could most likely call you out if it was misleading, and thus boxes in everyone on it into a tighter, potentially more difficult to play in as scum space, including your scummates if you had them

5) i have a pretty good degree of confidence in my stronger first-day reads

6) i'm pretty sure you're just town xD
Makes sense, thank you! Here, have a dancey guy.

Agree. I hope everyone can really step it up. This is basically a 96-hour Day 1 if we play our cards right.

Well, that's it from me; I'm out of steam for mafia. For tonight anyway. Lol.

I'll do everything I can later in D0 and going into D1, but most likely you all will be getting a significant breather from me to at least some extent. No way can I keep this up by any means, especially now in CA and with new job looming over me, which was partially why I wanted to commit time to it tonight (and I was/am soooo excited!). Anyway, again despite the fact that I'll be gone due to lack of time and not lack of desire, I believe it's probably better anyway to let the thread simmer and give you all a chance to do your thing.

Thanks for interacting with me so far, folks, especially Jay and Tsaiah. I really want to continue doing so with aby, and I need to substantively with Colin, DH, Kyle, and Mac for sure. As for everyone else... I would apologize for such a dense thread already, but fuck that, because I would never apologize for advancing the game forward. Lol. Seriously, I look forward to hearing from and interacting with everyone else as well.

We will destroy this game. I will do everything in my power to ensure it. But we can only do that if all of you that are town do the same. I know we all have our own restrictions, but just do literally anything you can with what time you have. You all rock. I've seen it myself. This is a solid player list. We can and will bury the scum via hard work and aggressive reassessment. I wish you all the best of luck in your early game endeavors.

Until another time! :offtobed:

What makes you assess his poo flinging so far as fake? As you and I both know, it's in character as either alignment. What should I be looking for re: Mac this early? Give me all of your thoughts, Jay.
Poo flinging is great. We should all do it. It should also bear some kind of capacity for response, or at least be traceable to some tangible inspiration. Mac's poo is randomized. I have no idea why those posts he highlighted suggested the alignments he tacked onto them.
Sorry Jay I was unaware that you had evolved your requirements of my basic day 1 101 gameplay to introduce this new attribute that now gives you justification to make meta reads that you never have before. Allow me to update my core programming to give no fucks.

DharmaHelper and Colin are probs bad. Jay is bad at Mafia. The rest of you have a hall pass for now. Those who haven't checked in should be lynched randomly and consecutively starting right now and we probably win the game really easily. But instead we will probably lynch those that are posting as is the weakness of the civilians in every game.

Multigender: the feeling of having more than one simultaneous or fluctuating gender; simultaneous with multigenderand omnigender

Nanogender: feeling a small part of one gender with the rest being something else

Neutrois: the feeling of having a neutral gender; sometimes a lack of gender that leads to feeling neutral

Nonbinary: originally an umbrella term for any gender outside the binary of cisgenders; may be used as an individual identity; occasionally used alongside of genderqueer

Omnigender: the feeling of having more than one simultaneous or fluctuating gender; simultaneous with multigenderand polygender

Oneirogender: coined by anonymous, “being agender, but having recurring fantasies or daydreams of being a certain gender without the dysphoria or desire to actually be that gender day-to-day”

Pangender: the feeling of having every gender; this is considered problematic by some communities and thus has been used as the concept of relating in some way to all genders as opposed to containing every gender identity; only applies to genders within one’s own culture

Paragender: the feeling very near one gender and partially something else which keeps you from feeling fully that gender

Perigender: identifying with a gender but not as a gender

Polygender: the feeling of having more than one simultaneous or fluctuating gender; simultaneous with multigenderand omnigender

Proxvir: a masculine gender similar to boy, but on a separate plane and off to itself

Quoigender: feeling as if the concept of gender is inapplicable or nonsensical to one’s self

Subgender: mostly agender with a bit of another gender

Surgender: having a gender that is 100% one gender but with more of another gender added on top of that

Systemgender: a gender that is the sum of all the genders within a multiple or median system

Tragender: a gender that stretches over the whole spectrum of genders

Transgender: any gender identity that transcends or does not align with your assigned gender or society’s idea of gender; the feeling of being any gender that does not match your assigned gender

Transneutral: A term used to describe transgender people who were assigned male or female at birth, but identify with neutral gendered feelings to a greater extent than with femininity or masculinity. It is used the same way as “transfeminine” or “transmasculine”, but for neutral feelings. It can be used to describe gendered feelings, or as a gender itself.

Trigender: the feeling of having three simultaneous or fluctuating genders

Vapogender: a gender that sort of feels like smoke; can be seen on a shallow level but once you go deeper, it disappears and you are left with no gender and only tiny wisps of what you thought it was

Venngender: when two genders overlap creating an entirely new gender; like a venn diagram

Verangender: a gender that seems to shift/change the moment it is identified

Vibragender: a gender that is usually one stable gender but will occasionally changes or fluctuate before stabilizing again

Vocigender: a gender that is weak or hollow
Oh wow Mac. That was informative. TIL I'm Juxera: a feminine gender similar to girl, but on a separate plane and off to itself.

Kylemii - i do like the way he engaged me, i would've liked it better if he'd actually told me something about himself in his reply (tho i laughed), i'm most interested right now in seeing what he does or doesn't do with the replies he recieves there
Haha, that is so like MP in person I'm laughing.

Spoiler: show
abyssum -- (homesite: Flight Rising) -- Played with them in the recently completed WC1 Champs game; we were both town. Based on my experience with aby, they're incredibly adept at insightful and sometimes unconventional lines of interrogation when town, especially as the game progresses. Definitely cares about thread health. Not afraid to go against consensus. In our game they consistently reassessed and engaged with me in a manner that really displayed a genuine town spark that I think would be very difficult to fake. Very good sense of humor. An absolute pleasure regardless.

ColinIsCool -- (homesite: RateYourMusic) -- This old-time RYMer relatively recently has made a comeback here on TS and he's fucking awesome. My most memorable moment with Colin is him as scum in Easter when I was town. I think in that game he did a very good job of fake scumhunting, but his tone always seemed off to me, and he also seemed a bit hedgey and consensus-y. I don't really have much experience with him otherwise yet but I hope to!

DharmaHelper -- (homesite: Lostpedia/The Piano/SpoilerTV) -- Oh great, this fucking guy. Sarcastic, hates rainbow lists, what's to like about him? He even started playing before me. But seriously, DH is one of my all-time favorite people. He's hilarious and a really great guy. In terms of his play, he can really chug out the WIM when he wants to, especially as town, and I've seen him really clamp down and solve the fuck out of games. I've also seen him roll over town as scum as well, so watch out. Unfortunately he doesn't play that often anymore (which I give him shit for because why not) and I'm not sure how hardcore to expect him to play anymore. I think the way to catch this guy in town v. scum is an agenda. When he's town he will relentlessly pursue someone. When he's scum maybe he's a bit more cautious. I am beyond excited to finally be playing with him again.

Infected_alien8_ -- (homesite: Escape Restart) -- Played with Alien during my qualifier Champs game; we were both town. Played with him again in the recently completed WC1 Champs game; I was town but he was scum. I love this guy. Very pleasant regardless of alignment. Asks A TON of questions. I think... having played with him in recent memory as both alignments, he had a harder time replicating very insightful, relentless interrogations as scum that he was just so good at when town. He definitely tried though. Tone can be faked quite well (he fooled me with it off and on). I think the key to solving him is really engaging him as much as possible on his lines of interrogation and trying to parse out what's really going on there. He's fucking good either way though.

JaggedJimmyJay -- (homesite: RateYourMusic) -- The King of Fuck Mountain. Needs no introduction. Jay is... a fucking machine. He's a robot. Probably the quickest ISO maker I've ever seen too. Relentlessly analytical. Likes to use POE, rainbow lists, and all the other fun techniques that I love as well. Hands down one of the most talented players I've ever had the pleasure of playing with, I think he's taught me a lot over the last few years, and I'd hope he's at least learned something from me. I expect to work with him when he's town. Can cheerlead well, but also can rip through players when he thinks he's onto something. He's fearless. He can be difficult to catch as scum. Look for an agenda. Look for posts that may not be attempts to solve the game, and/or if he even gets slightly complacent or consensusy/agenday... then he's probably scum.

Kylemii -- (homesite: Lostpedia/RevolutionMafia) -- Kyle! He's an old-timer from Lostpedia and related sites, and I didn't have the pleasure of interacting with him too much way back when, so it's been great to interact with him early on here at TS and then again in the past year or so. I think Kyle is one of the players that most oozes genuine tone as town, but what do I know, lol. He's good at like... stream-of-consciousness unconventional lines of interrogation when town that I'm not convinced he can fake when scum. I think he's concerned with thread health, but I'm not sure that's AI. I'd say he definitely gets pretty good in the mid-to-late stage of the game, and before then he can be a bit turbulent as town. I haven't even probably played with him enough, so maybe I don't have as much to say here unfortunately. Either way, Kyle is always pleasant and hilarious.

Lunalee -- (homesite: The Syndicate) -- Luna is without a doubt one of the sweetest people ever; it's a wonder she even likes this game. :p I think when she's town she actually has some low-hanging fruit potential, because she comes across as... loose, for lack of a better term. Usually her opinions stand out and it can be tough for me to get inside of her head; I think we just think differently. Personally I always think she looks scummier when she's town and townier when she's scum. Lol.

MacDougall -- (homesite: RateYourMusic) -- One of the most aggressive players I've ever known generally, but his range is immense. I've seen him post a ton, barely any, and everywhere in between, and his tone can exhibit the range as well. When he's town, his early game gut is INSANE. When he's scum, master of manipulation. I always fear going up against him when either alignment, but he's a really really great player to team with if you're both town.

Marmot -- (homesite: The Syndicate) -- The harbinger of chaos! Lol. Just kidding, sort of. Marmot is a really great guy. He's a very intriguing combination of styles -- Jekyll and Hyde almost. On the one hand, he can be super WIFOMy, random, chaotic, pokey, etc. On the other, he can be an analytical dynamite. And anywhere in between. Better at the game than he thinks he is, especially late in the game he can become clutch once he has data to analyze. Good sense of humor as well.

M Plus 7 -- Yours truly, the master of WIM, the Sockian slayer of scum, the relentless chearleader. Yeah. I'm town this game. That's all you need to know. We will win this game. :yay:

RobotNerd277 -- (homesite: MIT Mafia) -- Played with Robot during my qualifier Champs game; we were both town. They were really great! I think in that game Robot seemed both analytical but also very willing to consider new avenues of suspicion or reasons to town read players with ease in a way that initially struck me as rather organic. It was like... reassessy and against thread consensus often in a way that I think many other players can't quite capture. I'm not exactly sure how they would play as scum.

Russtifinko -- (homesite: The Syndicate) -- IRL friend of mine from high school! I sadly haven't played online mafia with him in forever, but as such I am sooo excited to be playing with him again here! Just played IRL mafia with him recently though! He is definitely insightful and analytical, but not in the sense that someone like Jay is methodically chugging out ISOs. Instead Russtifinko probably tends to be a lower post-count player, but in no means does it mean he won't bring some high-quality reads if he is town and engaged. Rather he tends to throw in the occasional wall sort of post with some unconventional reads on as many players as possible. I think... man, it's just been so long, but as town v. scum... I would say the main difference in his alignment is his tone combined with voting patterns maybe. Again look for an agenda here too. A very nice guy regardless of alignment, but maybe even nicer as scum!

sprityo -- (homesite: Chocolate Pi) -- I love this guy. I'd say he's unfortunately the most low-hanging fruit potential out of anyone here if he's town, because he has such a unique way of thinking, can be a lower poster depending on how much available time he has, and it can take him a little while to get grounded. But his contributions are definitely solid. Similarly to Luna, maybe apply a 'if they seem scummy they just might be LHF town' perspective here. I expect him to be more loose and reassessy as town, while he's more analytical as scum maybe.

Tsaiah -- (homesite: Flight Rising) -- This is you! (Since I'm making this post at your request.) :p I'll still say stuff though so other people can read it! Lol. Funnily enough, despite how well I feel I know Tsaiah, we technically haven't played a full game together; the hydra game and the game on DLP both came at a bad time for both of us, but especially her. She and I have talked a ton about game strategy; she relentlessly spectated both of my qualifier and WC1 Champs games. Our minds work very similarly. I expect to mindmeld with her and be able to genuinely understand where she's coming from as town. A good mix of light-hearted and fluffy, insightful/analytical, and gut-based reader I would say. If she's scum, she might more so struggle to genuinely scumhunt and become too fluffy, so watch out for that.

Turnip Head -- (homesite: Lostpedia/The Piano) -- This guy started at Lostpedia about a year before me, and he was whether he knows or not, actually my first like "mafia idol". I just loved the way this guy plays the game. He's smart, funny, and insightful. He has a really incredible range as well; I'd actually say I've seen this guy play a larger range of playstyles than... maybe anyone I've ever known. Back then when I first started playing mafia he tended to play more analytically and was generally a thread leader of content. Nowadays he plays a lot more loose and gut-based with more shitposting, but still will throw out questions and observations when he feels they're warranted. I think sometimes he plays his cards really close to his chest; I'm tempted to say this is a slight towntell but I really am not sure. If he's town, he's really good at finding other town in his soul that everyone else is scumreading, I feel. Definitely a candidate for best sense of humor among this playerlist, which says a lot. Watch out, aby.

@Tsaiah, this is for you. Anyone else who wants it too can gladly have it. But take it as the random musings of a madman. Madsock. Whatever. :p

I hope none of you get offended at what I did or didn't say. This also by no means is intended to be comprehensive. Rather I tried to keep it rather succinct! Lol. I really do love you guys, and I could not be more excited to be playing this game with every one of you. :D
Thanks MP! This is pretty helpful to know!
